I love cole slaw. For the last few years I have bought the grated carrots and cabbage. But, it seems that it is always gone around holidays. I have learned to buy it early. If I wait until Friday, I will have to go in about 7 am Friday or Saturday to find it on the shelf. So, tonight, Thursday, I went out for one thing--coleslaw mix.
Pork chops and chicken are here. Tomatoes and corn are planned to go with my meal. I bought one tomato at WM for a salad for me. Saturday, the market will be open, so I will get more tomatoes there. Corn on the cob will be from Publix and shucked since I cannot get the shucks off anymore. Since the wreck, my wrists hurt more.
Let's put it this way, I can get things open sometimes and do hard things. But, the result is sprained wrists since the wreck, so I can barely open the car door. It's hard to decide whether to hurt myself again, or do none of the things that hurt.
Anyhow, I went out especially for that one thing that I know will disappear during the day as we count down to the holiday.
Exbf will have this for dinner on Tuesday. He will be very happy! There will be enough for me to eat several meals and eat with him Tuesday and send a meal home. But, I got the One Thing I knew would disappear!
Oh, I will make half the cole slaw mix now and the rest on Tuesday. Old cole slaw is one thing I cannot eat. I am capable of eating the whole package, but I won't.
There is always one thing that disappears during a holiday unless you plan well, which I usually do.
Have you ever been on a search for some food at the last minute for a holiday? I know that at least once in our cooking adventures and hosting holiday events, there has been one thing you forgot or that eluded you. And, I would love to hear about it!

Potato Pay
When my older daughter, second child, was about five-years-old, she hated green beans and loved macaroni and cheese. If both were on her plate, she ate her mac n cheese and begged for more even though she had not eaten one green bean. She had promised she would eat a green bean and then a bit of m n cheese.
So, we worked out a deal. I kept her mac n cheese in a bowl by me and she had to eat a green bean before I would put a bite of m n c on her plate.
Then, yesterday,I saw a commercial with the same idea. They call it 'potato pay."
I looked up the commercial to share with you. There was even a chart to help parents. I think the chart has rewards that are too large.
Exbf told me about a little girl at one of the dinners. She put a green bean in her mouth and made a face while she chewed it, an awful face that let you know she just hated the green bean. I wonder what the deal was for her.

Have you ever withheld food, bite by bite, and allowed your child to have it like in the commercial? Or, with any food the child wanted? Any other hated food stories?

Cow Crossing
Monday, way too late, I put on the ground pork in the crock pot. It hurt my hand to chop it up as it cooked. This dish took 2 cans chopped tomatoes, 1 can corn, 1 can of black beans. Opening that many cans caused more pain. I poured the rice into my hand to measure it. I used the cheese on special about six weeks ago. It was easy but hard to cook this dish. It cooked on low until Tuesday morning.
Before exbf arrived, I managed to wash three quart jars and dip the "casserole" and store it in refrigerator. By the time he left, it was cold enough to travel easily. He got one quart.
Yesterday (Monday) , I had to fill out a form and send it back. Well, there must have been ten pages, none of which I could read. I took all this to an agency that helps the elderly. The guy at the desk called a worker and said there was an "elderly woman" out front who needed help filling out some papers. I was stunned at his terminology and what it implied.
I know I am elderly! There is no dispute there. However, it implied my elderly condition brought me there and I could not fill out papers. The fact is that I cannot find my glasses. It still stings!
Tuesday, I went back to find the correct address. I was given a stamped, addressed envelope. That way, I did not have to walk into the PO.
Free lunch at the church that has guitar players playing during the meal and afterwards. Lunch: huge chicken fingers (baked and not fried), slaw, green beans. slice of bread, unsweetened tea. The green beans must have been at the boiling point. Besides, they had some sort of heat/peppers. That set off a severe allergy attack. My piece of pie was like fudge in a pie shell, very delicious.
One thing about going to these dinner is that we find out who is ailing. My friend whose cerebellum is shrinking has another problem. It is something about her marrow not being right. We were interrupted before she could explain. Lots of others have doctor appointments from toes to extended illness that she cannot shake. Do you ever go to an occasion and find out who all is ill or has a new diagnosis?
Afterwards, we drove 20 miles only to discover that KMart is gone and also the ones 40- and 25-miles from here, maybe none are open within a reasonable driving distance. Thankfully, it was a very pretty day, plus we went up hwy 31 instead of the interstate. I suppose I will order online.
We saw a sign--"Cows cross under highway 31". I sort of squealed at the sign. On the way back I saw it on the other side of the divided highway. Sooo, we turned into the farmland and mixed use land, on a road, of course. I have never seen this before. Today, I saw no cows, but they had left their hoof prints in the bare, wet soil. Have you ever seen a cow crossing that was under the highway? Where?

I get so hungry! Yard mowed! Wisteria destroyed, I hope!
I am just not up to cooking in crock pot or in the oven. I can lift to do neither, especially a pan of food into and out of the oven. So, I don't feel like I am getting the nutrition I need. Even getting a sandwich out is expensive after a couple of weeks. I need a balanced diet.
Plus, since I hurt my hands and wrists in the wreck, slicing and peeling is difficult. Even using the cane or walker causes my wrists and hands to hurt.
Well, don't ask me what came over me. Sunday, I put out four meats to thaw. The ground pork will go into the crockpot for Taco Casserole, but it comes out like soup and is delicious. I have 4 small filets of chicken breast that I think I can get into the oven and out without dropping them or burning myself. The bag of boneless center pork chops will get cooked somehow. I haven't figured that out yet. A small package of turkey lunch meat has been eaten.
Cooking on top of the stove involves too much standing! ugh!
THEN, I thawed four hotdogs and ate all four of them. I know!
This is not just about pain; it is about hunger. Two different days I just lay in bed in pain and finally ate my first bite around 5:30.
Exbf never cooked for himself. So, he is useless on this point. Although, he does take me out to eat when he is here. When he got a package of ground beef, he cooked the whole thing at once so he would not have to wash the pan more than one time. Of course, he cannot stand to do that now.
I am writing this Sunday night at 10 pm. I might boil eggs tonight. Thankfully, I love salad, so I can buy the greens for that. Although I love pbj sandwiches, I will not be the old lady who just eats sandwiches.
Saturday was an especially good day since my yard was mowed. Plus, the guy pulled up and killed with poison the wisteria. I am afraid to walk to the chickens' pen when I get them because of the tendrils of wisteria. Next year, I am going to get one of the fire things that burns the roots. I will not use it, but he can.
I know that is an excessive number of exclamation points in the title.
Has anyone used the fire thing that kills weeds and roots? Any thoughts on it?
It's Monday night and tomorrow is a church lunch. Yippee! I need to get into the kitchen and cook! Ugh! I still hurt. Have you ever felt like you had rather starve than get up and cook when you were in pain? Oui and strawberries are on the counter to eat while I cook.

Groceries August 19-25, 2018
I did not have a car until August 22.
qt. strawberries
bag of mixed greens
4 bananas
half gallon a2milk
I suppose I spent about $12 this week. It seems I bought something from the clearance rack in the front of Walmart. This last week, I have not listed things each day as I have done since I did not have a car and did not shop.
I had bought a half gallon of milk the week before in case I needed milk before I had a car. Or, did I buy it on Monday when exbf came up? It turned out that my back and hips hurt so that I have drunk less milk just because I do not want to walk..

Friday Flu Shot
Friday, about 7 pm, I had the flu shot at WM. It did not hurt one bit. I sure hope this one works after the terrible three week bout with the flu last year. Suddenly, my trust in vaccines was shattered, leaving me feeling vulnerable. But, it is the best hope I have. Maybe I will become a hermit. I could wear a mask all the time when out. ??? I will definitely keep my hands off my face.
Any other tips to avoiding the flu? Anything else I can eat, drink, or avoid? I know good nutrition is important. However, I am looking for a sure-fire bit of magic.
Friday was a day of exhaustion and pain, all stemming from Wednesday stress.
Saturday, more exhaustion and pain. I stayed in bed most of day from noon to about 10 pm, got up often to go to bathroom, ate once, and passed out in pain.
Cannot find my glasses, so no telling what I have typed.

Laughing at myself
When I had the truck, I spent lots of time pawing at the space where my old console held the gear shift. Since I had used mine on the console to shift gears for 16 years, I kept trying to still use it. Even to the last time I started the car, I still pawed at space. It was so difficult to become accustomed to finding the gear shift on the steering column.
I chuckled at myself every time!
Then, I got the Altima. The guy handed me two keys. I was so exhausted as I turned them in my hands and asked him, "Well, where are the keys?"
I had two plastic ovals (fobs, they say) with no metal key. He had to teach me how to start the car. That was a weird thing since I have known how to start a car as a child, even though I never started one until I was a teen. You first stick a key into the keyhole.
Push the brake. Push the start button. Yesterday was the first time I had started a car by pushing a button. Then, I had to ask a car hop at Sonic how to start it five minutes after my lesson! This was a stark reminder of how teens know more than I do now. Let me rephrase that--more about certain things than I do. Of course, it all boils down to just a few things they know more about. Of course, he was not in need of my vast knowledge stored in my head. Besides, after not knowing how to start a car, he would never believe I could help him with anything!.
In a few hours, I will get another car. It is ironic that I expended so much energy getting it that I do not feel like using the car I have. When I was pushing for a car yesterday, I was planning on using it yesterday, but yesterday was spend getting the car.. Now, I hurt and am exhausted so that I doubt I will use it in the next two hours except to return it. I really wanted to go to the Farmer's Market, but it is about to close for the day.
I took the car to Enterprise as directed. They knew nothing of all this. Then, the bitch said she saw I had a car and did not reserve one. I gave her a bit of mind thoughts. She seems to not do what was agreed and makes my life miserable. Had a friendly dispute with guy, too. Finally, he talked to attorney.
So, I left and went straight to free dinner.
Free dinner tonight:
grilled hamburger, cheese, and grilled onions
nice sized salad, grape tomatoes with choice of dressing
huge slice of watermelon
chocolate chip cookies, homemade
So, I had two hamburgers and suffered for having beef. No fun. I had another cookie on the way out because a little girl with a tray offered one.
There were so many condiments, but I just listed what I had.
The dinner was a pleasant end to another stressful day

Long Wednesday
I was thinking on Tuesday that the $50 bill needed to be deposited so that if the new card happened to come as promised, the deposit needed to be done before things move forward with the car rental. So, I called my friend around the block and asked him if he would help me. I made a deposit slip and put that and the $50 in a used envelop.
He knocked on the door at 9:15 this morning, and I stumbled to the door and gave it to him and thanked him. I had only a few hours sleep but turned on the tv. Less than ten minutes, there was a sharp rap. No one was there so I opened the door and found an envelope with card in it.
I did everything correctly over the phone. It could not be set up. A woman tried to do it on the phone, and it did not work. Then, I called bank and I had to go in.
The only thing to do? Call exbf and see if he would come up here and take me to bank and then to get car. He just put on clothes and headed out. He did not shave. I don't even think he combed his hair. Under the circumstances I certainly did not care.
The woman at the bank could not get her machine to work and had to use another one. He took me to get the car and the cold bitch said I should have made a reservation. There was no "let me see what I can do." Soooo, we went back to attorney and he found two parking places, making it easy to get out of traffic.
I went inside and stood or sat while the assistant called for two + hours, finally finding one in Huntsville. We left about 4 pm with the rental closing at 5:30. We stopped b y the house and I got water for us, cheese, and apples sauce. He had printed directions, none of which I needed. We got there at 5:20 after we made a wrong turn, thanks to me.
We left at about 6:45. They locked us in at 6 pm/ I was so exhausted. They gave me a gray Nissan Altima. I turn it in here, in Cullman tomorrow and pick up another one. ugh.
I ate at KFC in town. He got a blt at Sonic in Huntsville and ate in his car as he drove. Huntsville is about an hour north of here.
He did not want me to wait or show him the way out of the city. We argued. He said he would just go the wat back the way he came. WRONG! I just hung around Sonic and finally drove up beside him. H said nicely, "Do you want me to follow you?" Yes.
I knew we were half a mile from the interstate, and he was going to wind around parallel to it.
We both got home safely.
I cannot get into this car without whacking my head EVERY TIME.
noediting here and have not answere comments. I will. exhaustion

Monday from HELL
My appointment for analysis of my injuries with an orthopedist was Monday and out of town. I stopped 18 miles from here at McD to get a coke and sandwich. I took the $1 Coke. Finally after another 25 miles, lunch was served and I got something, forgot what but just a little--no beef.
I arrived at the doctor's office on time and on the wrong day. The receptionist treated me like nothing. I reported her. I was telling exbf on the cell about the fact it was the wrong day. So, he heard exactly what she said. When I verified the date and got another at an office other thank where she was located and further away, I reported her abuse.
Getting out of the parking lot, exbf ran over curb with both passenger side tires with me telling he was going to hit the curb! He will not listen to me. You just know I am going to change his whole character by noticing problems. Then, he did it again with me being louder and shriller before he clipped other curb. This was in the same parking lot and one curb over!
He had coffee at 8 am when he left his house. He always stops for coffee and a sausage and biscuit. I bring him a bottle of water to the car. But, he refused to drink any. He is diabetic. He can barely get out of the car and winces and makes lots of noise doing so. He does not drink water for hours so he does not need to go to the bathroom. That is dangerous for a diabetic. Plus, we did not eat until 2 pm. Then, he drank tea.
When we got home, he had drunk about three inches of water from the Dasani water bottle, and most of that was from the neck, so not much. I was continually having to caution him about curbs and turns. He says it is my fault. Next time, I will carry things to give him sugar and insist on using my little blood sugar tester on him. He will fight me and try to resist. I am so afraid for both of us when he drives.
I have to figure out how he can pee sitting. Or, at least not walking. But, getting in and out of the vehicle are his most painful obstacles.
On the way home, Quiznos was closed. I could have cried. We waited until we got back to Cullman and ate at Zaxby's. My salad was delicious.
I had to borrow $50 to put in the bank to get my car since Enterprise requires that. AND, it cannot be cash, or anything except a debit or credit card. I had lost mine and had it replaced. THEN, the loss of the new one still in the sealed envelope occurred about the same time as the wreck. I got the card activated, and then it was turned down at Enterprise! The card MUST be in my name. No one, not even attorney can help me.
So, I went home without a car, AGAIN! The insurance company rented it for one week only, and my orthopedist appointment is later in September. I am not sure how this is going to work. Do insurance companies just rent a car by the week?
I wanted to go to the free lunch today, so told attorney office they might have to take me. They were not thrilled with that at all. The couple who took me were in late 80s and she had had a knee replacement three weeks ago. They go to these lunches.
There are very few at this lunch that I know name, even the first name and only one couple that I know their telephone number. They are the same couple. So, I called them and they were unsure if they were going. She said they would go to lunch since I needed a ride. I offered to let them drop me off and find a ride home from someone I knew there. No, they took me and brought me home.
Lunch was wonderful--chicken fingers, mac and cheese, green beans and slice of French bread with butter, and two chocolate chip cookies and unsweetened tea. The chicken finger was more than most chicken breasts. I got a to-go box as I usually do.
The chicken in the box was twice the size of the one I ate, longer than from tip of middle finger and one inch past my wrist and onto arm. It is actually enough for two meals. It is all in the refrigerator for tonight. There is little mac and cheese and even less green beans, which is okay. I can open more beans and do not need a lot of carbs. Okay, I just ate the to-go box contents. There was plenty mac and cheese and green beans.
So, I am stuck with no car AGAIN!
But, I will not have to eat unhealthy dinner tonight as I have for the last week.
A hen ready for the crockpot spoiled, so it is in trash. I could not bend or lift it.

Making Vanilla Extract
Over a year ago (June 2017), I bought a Madagascar Vanilla Bean to make vanilla extract. Since I had sunk enough money into one vanilla bean to practically buy groceries for a week, I certainly could not afford a bottle of vodka to make the extract. I used Cruz (or Cruzan) Mango Rum that I had for making fig preserves. I cannot quite see the label on the bottle on the top shelf since it is obscured by something else.
I was buying one tiny bottle of rum every week or so. One day exbf was in the liquor store and suggested I go ahead and buy a full bottle. After that purchase about ten years ago, I never used the mango rum in baking or jelly making. Isn't that always the way?
One vanilla bean in a cup or so of rum has been sitting in the cabinet in the dark for about six months. I gave it a shake every few days or weeks at the end.
Used in any recipe with bananas, the taste of the banana is much richer. Mango Rum was not my choice, just all I had. No, the specific taste of mango does not come through. For anything else, the vanilla with mango rum enrichens and deepens the flavor.
I have taken pictures with my smart phone or Android or whatever I have. However, I get a message that something is open that should not be open and that I cannot transfer pictures.
I have kept several empty bottle from Vanilla Extract and plan to pour some of the extract into those since the bottles are dark.
Your turn
Have you ever made vanilla extract? How did it compare to commercially-made vanilla extract? What liquor did you use?

Emergency Call
Exbf and I have a set ritual on Sunday. He goes to church, comes home to eat or picks up burger, and we talk, then he naps. Well, sometimes he naps and I call him and wake him up. I hate doing that, so I suggested that he call me after he eats and before he naps. That way, I will not interrupt his meal or nap. Or disturb his meal or trip to bathroom. With a walker everything is an effort.
When he is out and out of pocket, he calls and lets me know where he is and what he is doing. The reason he keeps me informed is so I will not worry myself sick. Twice in the past he has not responded to calls, one from Friday afternoon until 2 am Sunday morning when I finally called police for welfare check. Another time, he was answering the phone but talking silly. Even when I told him I was going to call the police, he was still silly. So, I knew he knew nothing of what was happening.
Sunday, he called me at 12:15, saying he was at Pep Boys getting new tires because someone at church pointed out his bald tires. I quickly inquired about food for him. He assured me he had gone to BK and was going to eat when he got off the phone. He was letting me know so I would not panic. they finished the tires at 2 pm.
About 2:55 pm, I started worrying since he had not called me. Neither his cell or home was answered. I worried a bit and figured he was driving and would call me when he could. Actually, it was 2:58. At 3:11 pm, he called on his cell. NO, not his voice. It was a policeman. They were tending him and taking him to hospital because of blood sugar being so low.
I asked how they found me. They found his cell and found my number! He erases every call from his phone every time so that his phone is blank. He dials my number every time! He refuses to leave my number in the phone. It is not like he is trying to keep it a secret that he calls me or knows me. Of that, I am positive. His stupid, stubborn independence and fear of another person is going to kill him.
The guy said he was alert but not coherent. He had put his keys in his pocket and they were searching for them and finally called police when they realized his condition! His blood sugar was 40 and they said they gave him lots of sugar to get it to 280. That seems way too high. I think the police are following him home. I know they are following him to BK.
This all happened 30 minutes ago, and my chest is pounding, body trembling, and breathing is hard. This is going to kill me.
He listens to nothing I say. He is afraid I am trying to change him if I straighten his shirt collar. God forbid I should push down a piece of hair sticking straight up!
He just called. Okay, over three hours since he left church, over an hour since police called me. He said sitting in the sun for over 30 minutes while they looked for his keys at Pep boys is the reason for blood sugar drop. He was sitting on his keys. It could be because all he had to eat was fries!
I asked him at what point did he know he was in trouble. He didn't! He thought a drunk man in a gray shirt kept talking to him because he could not understand the guy. I had to laugh. He never knew he was in trouble. The policeman found me in his cell phone since I had just called him.
He refused to go to the hospital. So, as he says, they tested him to see if he could follow directions, knew where everything was on the dash , and could get key in ignition.
He has always refused to carry anything with him because he knows what he is doing. Since we just talked, I may have changed his mind.
My panic increased since I do not have a car to even go see him in hospital.
My heartbeat and breathing is still not right at 4:30 pm.

Groceries Aug 12-18, 2018
Four apples
five bananas
dozen eggs
1 Oui
bagged salad greens
bacon
Parm Crisps Frio Originals
I spent about $11.
The day I had to take the truck back, I bought enough bananas to last me. I might have two a day. I bought eggs last time that contained floaters. Since I kept forgetting to take them back, I got another dozen.
There is still one banana from last week, looking very dead, that I need to consume. Maybe a banana, Miracle Whip, and peanut butter in a sandwich or just leave off the bread. No, it was disgusting.
Trios Original was a snack thing, similar to Lunchables. I mistook the marked-down clearance price and paid too much. Then, it was not good. At least, it was half price. The package had three sections--almonds and pumpkin seeds, apricots and cranberries, CheeseParm Crisps. The fruits and nuts were good. The cheese crisps were not. When cheese goes beyond gooey, I dislike it.
I only purchase one Oui at a time. I would eat them all the same day f I bought more. They are that delicious.
Since I have had no car since early Tuesday morning, all the above was bought on Sunday and Monday in anticipation of being without a car..

What was in the car
Thinking about the car contents made me think about them and make a list.
walker
four-legged cane
blanket that folds into a bag with handle
backpack with items
pair of shoes
three large boxes to take to a shop and sell
13 gal. garbage bag to take to same shop to sell
long stick thing to pick up pecans
two 24-packs water in trunk
gallon antifreeze
gallon of water in antifreeze jug
two 13 gal garbage bags with two large items to return for refund
two tiny bags of car garbage, ready to discard
few groceries--I carry in two or three things at a time
sunglasses
large teacher's edition math book for sale
40 lb sand in trunk
short piece of wood I was going to use for project
wheel cover
rope
ball of twine
plastic sheet
hammer
screwdriver
shovel
red flag plastic for long load
bottom of humidifier filled with car fluids for emergencies
12-pack of half-pint Ball canning jars
old blanket in trunk
4 empty and folded tote bags for carrying groceries
bottle of hand lotion
box of Kleenex
pens in various places
coins
mail from the day
ice/frost/snow scraper for windows, padded thing to put hand inside
gallon gas can
car vac
This is all I can remember. I left sand, wood, wheel cover.
The old blanket in the trunk is for others to use. If someone has to get down on the ground to change a tire, he might be less reluctant to do so in the mud if there is something to kneel on.
I use the blanket that folds into a bag all the time in the winter. One side is vinyl so it can be put on the ground. I never use it on the ground. The other side is not fleece but something warm and textured. I put it over me when I have to be in car in winter and do not wish to run the motor. The vinyl really holds in heat so I do not have to tuck it around my neck to stay warm. I can feel my body heat rising around my face. Of course, I never sit under it for long and the weather is rarely below 20F degrees. I am quite sure I would perspire and become cold if I stayed under it for very long with it tucked in.
I keep the water in the car because I only open a bottle when I am out. The tote bags go in and out and about. The jars actually had been forgotten in the trunk.
There is always a shovel in my trunk, short one, in case I want to dig up a plant. A friend laughed and said I reminded her of an aunt who always carried a shovel and bags in the trunk to dig plants given to her.
We only need to scrape our windows a few times in the winter. Usually, there is a thick sheet of ice, maybe some frost, but keeping the scraper in the car year-round assures it is where I need it, when I need it.
The car vac runs off the cigarette lighter. It has its own zipped container. And, it works. I paid a quarter for it. It was the end of the day and the couple said they were sick of the sale. So, everything was a quarter.
It has been frustrating not having the car this week. Several times, I have wanted to go put something in the car for a return. Plus, needing to go somewhere and not having a car is stressful.
Definitely not an offsite storage area!

Shark Attack Pizza Recipe
This looked interesting. Since so many people love shark week, this looked like something to share. The video seems to have several recipes. I think the little pizzas are sharks. Recipe Maybe you can save this and find it next year for shark week. I thought there was only one recipe on the video, but there are more. And, the text has more.
Staying in bed or going to bathroom or for a sandwich in the kitchen is the sum of my activities. I guess that is all frugal. No car!
What did you do to celebrate or recognize shark week?

Hijacking and Hoarding at One Family One Income
Okay, I hijacked another blogger's blog post. That's bad. I apologize. My sewing room was never described as being a hoarder's domain. However, when I opened the drawers of the Butterick or McCall pattern cabinet, the kind you found in fabric departments, I was filled to the brim.
Four of the sections had patterns, standing, and organized. One long section corralled any kind of fastener--buttons, snaps, hook and eyes, belt hooks, and even Velcro. Another had trim like lace, mostly on bolts. Another had trim--patches, flowers, mostly embroidered things. One section held sewing tools--extra attachments for four sewing machines.
It was very easy to rummage through these small sections and even easier to straighten and organize the sections. Plus, when I bought anything, it was simple to open the drawer and drop it in. I often bought items I did not need at the moment because it was on sale or I anticipated needing the items.
Yet, if a friend asked for anything, I was met with cries or "hoarder" as they saw the drawer I opened. They were quick to condemn my actions even as they picked out what they wanted. Amazing!
Of course, the fellow blogger, a nice person got the following response, entirely unwarranted as I responded to her post. Sorry!
THIS WAS MY COMMENT:
"If it is well-organized, I can see no problem with keeping stuff. Plus, if there is a chance anyone will need it, why not keep it? I cleaned up a whole room with the addition of one of the Butterick pattern cabinets and a bookshelf and plastic shoebox type boxes, only larger.
Then, over the years, I added more to the stash of everything. The bookcase held the boxes full of thread. Since I needed 3-5 spools of the same color at one time, the dozen boxes worked to organize.
The long dividers in the pattern cabinet each held a designated item, making everything easy to find. All this was in a sewing room about 17x19, leaving room for four machines and three chairs and a cutting table. NOTHING was cluttered or junky looking, yet I kept things for years before I used it.
Since I got rid of things all the time, I did not consider it hoarding at all. Now, I do not know how he keeps his stuff or when he uses it. Maybe he is a hoarder, don't know. If he cannot get to it, maybe."
So, over at One Family One Income, I did not mean to be so harsh.

This is what happens! I turn naughty!
Since I am stuck at home, I have done something naughty. My mind starts turning to things other than going where I need to go. So, I am naughty and making something decadent. Okay, not decadent, just chocolatey, sweet, and calorie-filled.
I poured a can of cherry pie filling into the crockpot. Then, I melted a half cup of real butter and mixed it into a brownie mix. The butter and brownie mix was dumped over the cherry pie filling. It is still cooking. It will make a good dinner. I wish I had ice cream. I will drink milk.
No, really, dinner will be tuna salad, lettuce, and tomato.
My tooth needs attention and I have an appointment with orthopedist. AND, I need wheels.
Rarely do I use cherry pie filling, but I always keep a can on the shelf. I also keep a can of condensed milk here, usually using it up before the expiration date. Maybe I should check to see how long I have had crab meat here. I bought it last year on great sale and with coupon, looked at it often, and said, "Not yet." Tuna works fine and is much cheaper.
By keeping a can of something I rarely use, I can make up something special at times like this when I am needing something else (car in this case), or just want something, or have company, I am not caught short. Being so expensive keeps me from eating them regularly. I do not need to eat either of these regularly, mostly because of calories.
(okay, I started eating the chocolate-cherry concoction, but it really runny and I don't care.)
Attorney will call me when he hears back from insurance. Boo!!! (I never heard from him all day.)
Of course, I always have green beans and vegetable on hand, mundane stuff but eaten often. What do you keep on hand even though you rarely use it?

The Wreck Saga
Really, nothing happened for over a week. Finally, more than a week later, the insurance company for the guy who hit me finally responded.
Exbf took me to Ruby Tuesday for dinner because I just cannot stand long enough to slice a tomato. Yes, I could sit, but then I would have to get to the table, and then get back up and go back to the sink.
I think it has been over two years since we ate there even though it is my favorite restaurant. I became tired of a poor experience and being unhappy over service and food on special occasions. Past experiences led me to eschew visiting there again. Today, I decided to live dangerously and take a chance. The waitress was great; service was spectacular, and the food was perfect. I could not say any of that before tonight.
My favorite meal: chicken fingers and a baked potato with sour cream. I usually get cole slaw with this but tonight I ordered sautéed zucchini.
Plus, I always get a salad bar because I do not have to fear facing a cucumber in my salad: mesclun mix, baby spinach, mushrooms, black olives, shredded carrots, grated cheese, chopped apples, broccoli, tomatoes, just a bit of potato salad, and ranch dressing. This is the perfect salad.
I never can finish all this. So, two boxes were loaded up to take home. I have already finished the salad.
I would love to get one of their desserts, but I don't like dessert immediately after a heavy meal. We always drool over the dessert menu while the meals are coming, but we are too full and too cheap to get one. For my September birthday, maybe we will eat there and I will get a dessert.
I even had a coupon or three. We used the one for buy one and get second meal 1/2 price.
The car was returned this morning. I tried to return it yesterday, but I went at 4 pm, too late to have them take me home. I was told I could return it at 4 pm. There was a mixup somewhere!
While here, exbf took me places I need to go. I had him log his miles so I could turn the information in to my attorney. I had to go to the doctor who found me in the peak of health! HA!
Now, I am without a car and not loving it at all. Booo!
I wish I could go to Ruby Tuesday more often! What is your favorite place to eat? Remember, this is a small town without many choices.

Groceries August 5-11, 2018
Stove Top Stuffing 12 oz., $1.31 x 2
Betty Crocker Home Style Stuffing, 6 oz. $0.56
1 Herb Stuffing
1 Cornbread Stuffing
3 bananas
2 half-gal. milk 2 x $4.49
4 peaches given to me
12 cloves of garlic $1 (not bulbs)
3 bananas
3 apples
I spent about $15 this week.
The three packages of stuffing were on a clearance rack just inside Walmart. They are a better price than sale prices. Even if I could find them cheaper later, not having price-match would probably make them inaccessible to me as I will only drive so far. I promise I will have one helping a week of these...lol
I bought peaches last week that were yellow with a hint of red/pink. I know that variety turns very red when ripe. The person at the market said they would turn red. I asked her several times would they ripen, and she repeated they would turn red. The first one was bitter and sweet--yuck. Rock hard! So was the second-yuck again. The third gave me hope but was still not good. The fourth seemed to be more on the rotten side.
In the last two peaches, there were little white things in the red of the pit left in the peach. I cut it all out, but it looked like a fungus of some kind. Was it okay to eat this peach? Do you know what the little white things were? They looked smooth and like tiny pearls.
So, as I walked past the booth Saturday,, I mentioned in passing that the peaches last week were disappointing, NO, they do not redden or ripen. And, I kept going. As I was getting in the truck, she came to me and handed me a bag of four peaches, saying she hoped they were better even though they were not what I had last week. That was nice of her. I thanked her.
I looked at the few booths still open. A woman had about a gallon of garlic cloves in a bowl. Usually, bulbs of garlic are sold whole instead of separating them into cloves to sell. I asked her why she was selling them like that. She said the starts she bought made huge bulbs and people would not buy them. Hmmm??? She probably asked more than people wanted to pay for garlic.
I ended up buying 5 cloves for $1. I think the price is exorbitant, but at least they were not grown in Chinese soil like lots of the garlic in the grocery store. I cannot find garlic from Gilroy. Where do they sell it? That $1 was all I spent today at the market.

I Won Again...TWICE!
My ad newspaper did not arrive until Friday instead of Wednesday. I saw an event I would like to attend. So, exhausted and hurting still from the accident and things I did on Saturday, I decided not to attend. Then, I just changed my mind and went.
The first church where I ever had lunch was having an event to support the "Beans and Rice Ministry." They sold Bingo cards for one can of food or $1. I took five cans of food because that was all I could carry, more actually. The sign inside said a person could only play with five cards. Well, that worked out for me.
First, we had free dinner: hamburger or hot dog, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickle, onions. tea, and a table with condiments. I turned down the onion and pickles. Since no one ever has Miracle Whip, I did not even go there. Dry hamburger is better than condiments I don't like. Oh, a little bag of chips, too.
We played Bingo--more on that in a bit. I did give a small monetary donation.
After Bingo there were Coke floats and freshly made popcorn in those little decorated cardboard boxes that sit up. The tables were decorated in a fifties theme with a record. Women and children were dressed in poodle skirts and men had on leather jackets or jeans and t-shirt with sleeves rolled up. Smokers had a pack of cigarettes rolled in their sleeves. Not everyone was in costumes, just the ones from the church. But, I suspect there will be more costumes next month. There were balloons and other wall decorations. The room and the costumes were quite festive.
This is the church where people play guitars and sing religious songs while we eat on a Tuesday. Saturday night, there were 12 people with guitars playing songs religious and secular. They played and sang Sam the Sham's "Little Red Riding Hood." Quite a few of the guys howled! I forgot which Elvis song they sang and played. "Double Shot of My Baby's Love" was followed by "I Have Been Redeemed in the Blood of the Lamb."
One of the women I sat with asked who all the guitar players were. There was one local judge and several doctors. I think they are all members of this church.
Even the fill-in priest came in jeans and a white t-shirt and an Elvis wig and sunglasses with attached sideburns.
During an intermission from music and Bingo, two hula hoop contests happened. Only little girls and women entered. The men were yelling out "encouragement" to the women. fun, fun, fun. No, I did not enter.
The Bingo cards came from this SITE and were printed on card stock. Each place had a plastic Hefty type "glass" of pinto beans for the markers. I am going to carry a bag of chips, markers, or pennies next time. The beans are so fiddly to handle and place on the card. I kept touching the five cards and the beans rolled or scooted to another square. Or, I touched a bean somehow. Beans are a cute and cheap idea.
Since my tea was in a similar Hefty plastic "glass," I kept mistaking one for the other and--drank beans and grabbed ice when I needed more beans. As I became more tired, I made this mistake more often. Embarrassing!
Maybe I will cut card stock squares and fold them so they sit on the board like a tent, a rather short tent. That will be easier to keep in place and move to the Bingo card. Or, I could use buttons. I have plenty of those.
First, I won a t-shirt from Rumors Deli. I love to eat there but have not done so in ages, okay ten or more years. I may give this to exbf or trade it for one in my size. Either of us can use another shirt, even if just to wear at home. Then, I won a license plate that says FARM. ??? Am I allowed to use that?
This is going to be a monthly event. I had FUN!

On 8/8/18
On 8/8/18 I made a purchase of $8.18 and paid with check number 3818. I was amazed and cashiers were excited, wanting to get me to a lottery.
Another time, I wrote a check for $6.65 and the young male cashier was making the sign of the cross and also making a sign to get rid of vampires. He was so flustered he could barely do his job, hyperventilating and calling relatives, worried the .end was near and they would be separated if the Rapture occurred right then. Can you imagine if I could cause the Rapture?
I see amazing coincidences (818) not a supernatural sign. Well, on the 665, that is a near miss and counts for nothing since we are not playing horseshoes or throwing hand grenades I do think lots of people who harmlessly say they have a lucky number. Do you hold a lot of stock in numbers and their ability and meanings?
I had so much fun tonight that I can barely move, but I will tell you all about it later.

"I think you are obnoxious, arrogant, and completely self-absorbed,"
"Will you be my friend?"
This was said by Dick (John Lithgow) on Third Rock from the Sun. It sent me into spasms of laughter. And, laughter again.
Finally, I found Third Rock from the Sun on tv. It plays from 4 pm to 6 pm on Laff. The wind must be blowing right for me to get this on my outdoor antenna.
Never disturb me during this program. !!!
My friend whose house burned loved this, too. He refused to watch it even though I begged him. After three weeks of nonstop trying to convince him, I made a deal--if he would watch it just once, I would never mention it again if he did not want to watch it again. I wore him down...lol. He was hooked by the first commercial and never missed an episode.
Well, it was a fluke to get that channel, so I am sad.
Okay, I thought that was hilarious.

Nothing happening, and that is a problem
When I went out in the truck on Thursday, I started combing my hair. I never put my hair caught in my comb in the car, I just stick my fingers out the cracked window and wiggle my fingers to let it fly in the wind or drop, depending on whether I am driving 20 mph or stopped at a light. Sometimes, guys wave at me when I waggle my fingers to loosen the hair so it will drop..
On Thursday, I did the same thing in the red Silverado during a very light sprinkle. When I came out of the business, I could see the whole side of the truck with my long hair stuck to it. Just now, I told exbf and he had a good laugh. It never stuck to my car.
He put two more days on the rental since here it is Thursday evening and I have not been contacted by the other insurance company and the business does not respond to my calling.
It is after 6 pm on Thursday and E has not come. She made plans this morning to come here, and yelled at me. Then, I left to do something which was why I left without combing my hair. I rushed back home, expecting her to be here when I arrived. Nope, nothing. After rushing home today, I wash my hands of depending on her. If she shows up, she can work. If she never calls again, then we can continue.
So, I called the guy who helped unload the car to truck. He is going to help me. I have not cut her loose, but I will not call her again, asking her when she is coming. And, I will not wait here when she says she is coming here! If she comes, she can call me and I will come home. I will not be going so far I cannot be home in fifteen minutes.
This accident happened on Monday night. The insurance company knew about this when I called the business at 8 am on Tuesday morning. I am annoyed. But, I was told that it takes insurance companies four or five days to contact the person who was affected by their insured. That is not the way I remember times I have dealt with in the past.
My insurance company has had an adjustor out the day after the incident. A limb fell on my car that I could still drive. He was here almost immediately--the next day. And, I could drive the car. I cannot drive my car.
What has been your experience with insurance adjustors' timeliness?

The Wait!
It seems all I do now is wait. I informed the business their employee hit my car at 8 am Tuesday morning. I am still waiting to hear from their insurance agency. The head guy at the business said they were very good and had treated them well over the years. This morning, no one there is returning my call.
The woman who was helping me get things out of the car told here mother I would be angry if she called me early because I liked to sleep late! So, she came and started at 3:15 pm.
So, I found a guy who had a friend who would help me. It made me nervous, but we were going to the car where other people were around--the tow yard.
It took them 45 minutes to strip my car of my possessions.
Then, she took 2 hours emptying it and still has a way to go. I stayed inside and endured her ditziness. At 5 pm, I told her to stop and we could go get something for dinner. Well, after dinner and a trip to WM to get her phone working and get ice and something I needed, she decided to go wherever. I would not have bought anything to feed her if I had known she was not coming back!
I would call that same guy, but guys just want to transfer junk, not pack and listen to me. She brought in a broken Radio Flyer wheel, my hammer, and two other things. She would not put down the wheel and carried it to kitchen while she put the hammer in the tool box. ??? She carried it from room to room when she could have left it by the back door where she was standing and then put it on a shelf outside the door.
I will never go without full coverage on a car, even if it is a $300 car. Now, my company is not obligated to do anything to help me. So, I am dependent on the other insurance company.
So, that is my life right now, hurting and waiting.
How I found the guys who helped me and got paid for it. I went to DHR and found someone standing in the lobby and asked if they could help me with the task. No, but he knew someone he could ask. That guy called me within 10 minutes and met me within 15 minutes and took 45 minutes to do the job. It is 11 am and I have heard nothing. So, I will call her again.
No response and raining! She will not come saying she did not think I wanted it done in the rain!
By the way, I am paying her cash each day, so she does not have to wait on insurance.

Oh, the pain!
I could not sleep on Monday night, so at this point I have been awake for over 48 hours.
We went to the church lunch and the mayor spoke and answered questions. Everybody asked about bridges, road widening, bridges, paving, traffic lights--nothing else.
Lunch was a huge salad--Romaine, radicchio, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese, cucumber (gsve it awau), too tired to think. We each had four delicious chicken finger, and a delicious muffin. Dessert was ice cream.
Then, we went to Walmart to get things I need since I don't have a car.
We ate dinner at Cracker Barrel since I cannot cook.
Then exbf rented me a vehicle and will be reimbursed by insurance company. Wait for this. The reddest red, a pure color, 4W drive. Silverado. I grunt and groan getting in and just fall out of it!
The next time I go any where, I will have a stool to get in and out. I could hurt myself.
The only other choices were Corollas which are too small for me to get comfortable.
The Silverado drives like a dream. When exbf saw it, he said, "Are you sure you can handle that?" I assured him I could.
Tomorrow, I have two people lined up to clean out car. I just hope one shows up. E is not very dependable.
I have a headache, shakes, pains, but will survive. I did not respond to any comments, but this time I will.
All today, I warned exbf of crazy drivers. he commented that all the dangerous people were out today, the day I was afraid of everything.. My eyebrows hurt and I think I have whiplash.

After the Wreck
I was taking my turn at the 4-way stop. This street runs along behind the courthouse. To the right of me was a railroad track in a cut. There are bridges over the track so traffic will not be held up.
Well, this guy in a 15-passenger van came barreling over the bridge and right at the passenger side. He was speeding, I know! I gunned the car so I might get across. Obviously, I should have hit it a bit harder. Instead of the passenger door, he hit a back passenger tire. He said he saw my move. He put on his brakes and still hit me and spun me around. I wonder if he tried to dodge me.
It hurt lots and scared me more. I have muscle aches and a headache. Plus, my neck is hurting. Whiplash? As the car stopped turning, I was grateful my head did not hit the side window. Oh, it hurt both hands, too. In the middle of the night, my left hip, thigh, and foot started hurting.
My hands were shaking so hard and I could barely talk! Actually, my left hand and arm are still shaking this morning.
The guy came running to me, asking me if I was hurt. Then, he told me we needed to move our cars. I told him I was not moving anything! For one, it was after 10 pm and little other traffic. I was shaking so badly that I did not trust my ability to even know how to drive!
Exbf was coming today for a lunch and a visit. I called him from scene, from ER, and after I got home.
I need a rental car, but it will take two days to get one. Bummer! I do not have car rental on my policy, so I will get that next time. Maybe he can rent one for me and I can get it back from the other guy's insurance which is going to be a good policy.
I don't know his name, so I called his work, and he is going to call me. I need a car. If this car is totaled, I have no idea how I will afford another. Too bad the other guy's insurance will not buy me a car. My car is 18 years old, so it is probably totaled with the tire and body damage. I think I left his name in my car.
So, that is all I know. Okay, now neck pops when I barely move my head. I wonder how many other places will start hurting.

Long Lost Things Found
When E, the cleaner, was in the bathroom, she was cleaning out the little door under the open shelves. She asked me if I wanted to use the little things that hang in the toilet bowl. I have not used these in over 20 years, yet they were there, hiding behind things. I never get down low enough to see what is back there.
So, I am using the Scrubbing Bubbles things to turn the toilet blue and smell to high heaven. So, sue me. I will not buy more, but will use these.
Tupperware makes a handy little gadget that is one of the freebies they give. It is for hanging clothes. It has a hook on top about the side of a clothes hanger. the whole thing is about 4-5 inches long. On the bottom there are two notches to slip a sock or something into so the socks can hang to dry. I love these but had not found these two. They are great for travel.
I was so happy to get them back. I can hang a pair of panties or socks in the notches and place the hook over the towel bar or anywhere it fits, not necessitating the use of the dryer. Now, I have about five of these hooks. They can hold ten wash cloths!
Plus, She pulled at least five pair of panties and maybe ten washcloths from behind and under the tub. They all appear to be clean and smelled clean. I think these were hung on the two towel racks over the tub to dry and just fell off. Their discovery is like getting new things.
Unfortunately, each of the two days, she and I almost filled two kitchen garbage bags of things from the little cabinet and under and behind the tub. Okay, maybe it is fortunate to get up the trash, things like toilet paper rolls,
Several toothbrushes appeared and several combs. The cleaning toothbrushes went into their container and the combs need to be washed. I keep a separate container under the kitchen sink for toothbrushes to use cleaning in the kitchen.
She cleaned with a brush on her knees per my instruction. There was too much hair, dust, dental floss stuck to get all that into a mop. I have cleaned on my knees with a brush. My friend who cleaned the bathroom floor in exchange for something I gave him asked for a brush because he said that is how he cleans his floors. E did not seem averse to the idea.
With kids I always had discoveries when I pulled out the washer, dryer, refrigerator. But, this was a whole new class of found items. There is nothing more to find on the bathroom floor. Now, my job is to try to keep things off the floor!
What do you find when you move appliances or clean in hard-to-clean places?

Groceries July 20 to August 4, 2018
2 Red Delicious apples $0.99/lb.
2 bananas
* tomatoes $6
*peaches $6
2 bananas
1 can of Hormel white chicken breast $1.08 on sale/clearance
Sale/clearance pouch of herb mashed potatoes (forgot the brand) $0.57 was half price.
Mounds Bar $0.78
* items from farmer's Market
I spent about $16 this week.
I bought Red Delicious apples after 10 pm, and there were few left that I would buy. The same was true for the bananas that might. I will eat 1/2 an apple each day. These were not large apples nor tiny. Hopefully, apples at this price will be available next week. Since I have white grapes, I will make a fruit salad on Sunday--apple, banana, grape, Miracle Whip. If I had pecans, I would add pecans.
At the market I paid $6 for 5 peaches. They are huge. I may eat just half a peach each day. Since they were Elberta, the kind I love, I got them. Saturday might, I had slices of bacon along with tomato and Miracle Whip.
Exbf was down to one box of cereal from the 17 we got one day. I found huge boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios marked down to $2.73, so I got three boxes for him.
Mounds is just about my favorite candy bar. While I was in a store I rarely go into, I spotted Mounds. This is one of the few places that carries Mounds. WM does not! I wonder why.
Looking back at the list, it appears I did not eat vegetables. Not so; I have vegetables left.

Freebies in the Mail
Do you remember when I went to the Power Board Customer Appreciation Day where I won a Crock Pot? Maybe I told you, but we were invited to fill out a TVA survey and receive in the mail
energy saving products.
When Spring arrived and it had been well over six months, I gave up, wondering why I did not get my things. After that, I never expected anything.
So, imagine my surprise when I went to the mailbox in front of the house and found a huge box stuck in my mailbox. Stuffed? Yes, I struggled to even budge the box.
Inside the box were goodies from TVA--two LED bulbs, a filter whistle to alert a person when the filter to heating and ac unit needs to be changed, a refrigerator magnet, booklet about energy saving, two faucet aerators, 20 switch and outlet insulating sealers.
The sealers, 10 for outlets and 10 for switches are very useful. Have you ever put your hand against the holes in either and felt the wind or cool air coming out? I had one outlet where there was a strong wind coming out because the outlet was near the floor in a very old house. These go behind the switch plate and outlet plate covers.
All this was packed in a very heavy box with so much padding--bubble wrap and those balloon looking packets of air. The box is very reusable since in has a lid that flips up with a "hinge" area in the cardboard and a huge piece to tuck inside. This box will work for things to be kept together.
I have a place I put all bubble wrap and those balloons of air. I don't save everything, but almost. When they annoy me, I toss them. Oh, I can attach my own thing (flower or note) to the refrigerator magnet advertisement.
Do you live in an area served by TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority)? If you do, have you received this freebie? Do you use sealers for switch plate or outlet covers?

Still Not Clean
I hired someone to clean the bathroom with exbf's money. So far, $100 has been put into the effort. Yes, it was filthy. She started at the ceiling. She is by far the best cleaner I have had the last two years. She can actually talk and keep cleaning.
During the time I paid her to clean, she also took off the old commode seat, put on a commode seat. I had to show her how once she installed it and the lid would not come up. The new commode seat and lid were mangled. I bought this on clearance but was told it was fine, that the commode seat was opened and returned. Not so. So, I paid her about $20 to take off the old commode seat, put on the new commode seat, put on the new commode seat correctly, take off the new commode seat, and put on the final commode seat.
She is washing inside a small, low cabinet. It looks great. I have bookcase type metal piece that is difficult to work around. It is still not clean, very dusty. And, she will wash the window next time unless I can do it. There are four shelves next to sink and over the little, low door. I will clean those shelves.
I will wash the window curtain and the lace curtain I use at the four shelves beside the sink. I certainly manage to do that and save money by not paying her. I can do some things.
My whole bathroom is discombobulated. Some things are outside the bathroom. Since I cannot get into tub, I have used tub to store some boxes. I have to empty those. Well, I have to decide where things go. The toothbrushes and toothpaste I get for Christmas Child boxes are put in one of the boxes in the tub.
Part of her time here was lopping tree limbs. The hickory tree outside the back door has large hickory nuts that weigh down the limbs. When the tree has large nuts and is soaked with rain, the limbs hit us in the face. So, she pulled the limbs down and I lopped. It hurt me but not as much as pulling limbs down. In the front yard at the corner of the street, I noticed the Yoshino Cherry tree limbs would hit cars or bicyclists, so she lopped those limbs. Then, she dragged them to the road.
About 4:30 I was hungry and shocked to see how late it was. She took me up on a pbj sandwich. We both felt much better when we finished.
I have an oval mirror in the bathroom. the frame is plastic but looks like wicker. It needs to be carried outside to the hose. I will take out the mirror and leave it in here. Soap and water will make the dirty frame pristine.
She started on the ceiling, cleaning it, went to walls cleaning them, cleaned the trim above the faux tile. Everyone thinks I have tile on the lower part of the bathroom. No, they could work miracles with plaster and lathe boards 100 years ago. I assume they pressed something against the plaster to make it look like tile.
It took forever for her to clean under the claw foot tub. The bathroom is tiny. There is little room under the tub and even less behind the tub and at the end. Then, at the end there are pipes for the drain, hot water, and cold water.
If I ever have my way, my claw foot tub will not be put against a wall! It will be angled in a corner. If I ever get my way about installation!
The bathroom is white and just about knocks your eyes out when clean and everything like towels and pictures are removed. I use pink towels. The soft soap is always pink shampoo or body wash. The pink and a bit of blue and white "Made in China" item makes it all work. The bath tub always has pink Dove. I need to get another pink rug.
I clean with the brown, liquid Lysol, so it smells nice to me. Clorox is suffocating and Pine Sol is gross and I am allergic to it.
That was all done on a day last week and a day last week. She stayed four hours each day and did other things besides cleaning, just things I needed.
Yes, it was filthy, but I cannot do all this anymore. Hopefully, I can keep it up and only have someone clean the bathroom maybe twice a year just to get what I cannot. I am also going to sell a few things that need to go so I can afford this. I did NOT spend my gift money on this...lol.
No, I am not going to get a Medicare waiver. Do not suggest it. Will not happen. JRE is exempt because she mentioned it and I realized I should have put something in the post. So, I did.
Have you ever fought to clean behind and under a claw foot tub? Have you ever needed help to clean?

Drawing Blood
At the dermatologist Tuesday I complained about a little bump on my chest up near my collar bone. Something bit me there, I think, about four years ago. I kept scratching it and got it all inflamed. He sliced it off. "Sliced" was his word. The nurse gave me a shot to deaden the area. I never even felt the needle go in.
There was lots of red stuff. He took off quite a chunk.
Instructions were to use Vaseline or Polysporin so it would not dry out and cause scarring. I never knew keeping something from drying out would prevent scarring. Did you?
Then, on Wednesday, the allergist took a blood sample to see if I am allergic to soy. I definitely have a reaction to soy.
A nurse came in with the largest bore needle I have seen in a long time. I was alarmed but said nothing. She felt around on the crook of my elbow and finally put the needle at the skin where she chose. Not only did the needle bore alarm me, the size of the barrel thing behind the needle was strange. Then, the needle plunged into my arm at least an inch. The speed alarmed me as it went in. I really think the thing was cocked.
I was disappointed the barrel did not fill with blood. She was taping up my arm. So, I asked her where she was going to try next. In surprise, she said she had it. I was confused and asked her to show me. THEN, I could see the blood. It was smaller than the thing/barrel that was attached to the needle.
Amazingly, there is absolutely no evidence I had blood drawn. She was good, and I made sure I told her so, effusively!
Is there something that plunges the needle in the skin without the nurse having to push it in?
