Sun Tea--Safe? and Cute New Hat

Sun Tea Is Popular In The South—But Is It Safe To Drink?

I say NO. I won't even drink tea the next day.

We will never get this list done! When I finally got the list in the car, we did little. I was looking at it the next day and forgot to put it back in my purse. I was steaming mad at myself. Today, we went out with list but after 4 pm. So, I had a list on paper but only wanted to get certain items--2 packs of Dasani water, 5 lb bag of Arm and Hammer baking soda. From DT he got 2 cartons of shelf stable milk. It is good to meet goals, even small ones. DT milk was still $1.25--good deal.

These were regular items for stock up, nothing for prepping or in advance of tariff prices. But, I would hate to wait too late to get them. I use baking soda for cleaning, especially stainless-steel sink. I keep a Kraft cheese shaker of it on sink. Tommy loves it. I don't bake anymore, so rarely use it there.

My right hip is more swollen, burns, and impedes my walking ability.

For The last two months, I have seen women wearing a hat I want. Actually, these were black women, girls and babies. I figure the hats are from many of the boutiques here run by black owners. The hats were crocheted granny squares with a ruffled crocheted brims. So cute. And, they would hide dirty hair or gray roots. The women were too far away or had a child or children they needed to watch in traffic in the parking lot. My hat is just rows of triple crochet.

Yesterday, I saw a young woman with a cute dark, hot pink hate. I told Tommy to roll down the window and give a toot. She came over and I told her I loved her hat, where did she get it so I could get one. She pulled off the hat and stuck it in the window to Tommy. I thanked her for letting me try it on. She said, "Oh, you can have it." I objected; she insisted.

Tommy approved, "That looks cute on you!" I could see the brim when I put it on. Annoying. So, I tilt it back , and it looks even better. It sort of looks like I am wearing a night cap. Have you ever seen these on people? I could crochet these if I could crochet right now. The cap at the top is multicolor, but mine is solid.

Plans for tomorrow are to get xray, get title for car, and buy laptop.

What are your plans for the rest of this week?

Saturday Drive

Somehow, I don't think I posted on Friday. The day was nothing like I planned. We did not get the ballots mailed. I have been trying for two weeks to get a refill on Victoza. Finally, today, Saturday, we drove to Cullman.

The pharmacist in response to my asking why it was hard to find, said it was the vanity in the world....says the pretty slim young woman. It seems people misuse Victoza for weight loss.  I had no idea. I got 40 days' worth instead of the 90 days on my prescription. Some days, I am only given one pen, good for 13 days. The worry of wondering when and if I can find this stresses me.

While we were in Cullman, we went to get a fob for me. It was $130 after two discounts. Then, I had him make me a house key and bought a big ring to hold both and attached it to my phone. Now, I am set.

Tommy finally figured out how to open the car with the key instead of the fob. The keyhole is in the door handle on the driver's side. There is only one place to open the car with a key, driver's door. I hate that.

We are still working on learning what is what on this car! We still have not found a cd player.

While we were waiting for the fob, there was a woman with a table full of things to sell. I wanted nothing but the bracelets. I bought three at $3 each, Christmas gifts. It was for a house where women and children live while mothers are overcoming addiction. Then, I saw something lumpy and colorful. It was a crocheted potholder, $5. She gave me a crocheted 'prayer flower.' People pray over them and give them away. I won't be doing that as I don't have that belief. I told Tommy he better not use the potholder. I want to hang it up.

We bought Whoppers, two for $5. I went to Publix but forgot to go to the other store I like.

The weather was beautiful with no sun in my eyes. The sun was shining and bright. However, we did not go early and come home late, so the sun was not at an angle until the last 30 minutes. Riding in the Honda is a dream.

I came home and went to bed and slept for two hours, lay there resting for another hour. Now, I am making dinner. I put in two hamburgers with onion soup mix over them. We are having burgers, green beans, slaw, and a salad. Tommy had burger, green beans, and a salad, no slaw. Our burgers had no bun. I am so full.

On Thursday night we had burger on bun, slaw, tomato, twice-baked potatoes.

Does your vehicle have only a keyhole on the driver's side? Does that annoy you?

Do you have a CD player?

Upcycle an Umbrella Frame--Crochet

I found this picture on Homestead Survival.  I cannot crochet this well. And, I have no idea why the text is so large on my blog now. But, I can fix it. The post is so short, so it stays.

Instructions for acquiring the directions are on the same blog.

Your turn
Are you capable of this magnificent crochet?
