I Hate This Purse!

Genuine Leather Cross Body Bag - Super Soft & Durable Crossbody Bags For Women & Men - Classic Bronze Hardware With Adjustable Strap (Red): Handbags: Amazon.com

I really dislike this purse I am carrying. See the three red tassels for zipper pulls? They were at least four inches long if not longer. So, I cut over half of each tassel. It improves the look a little. The vertical pocket will barely hold a flip phone and will not hold an Android. My glasses barely fit. I doubt cigarettes would fit. I had to mash the whole purse to get the snap shut. I suppose that is a good thing if you have put something into it. But, to just close it empty, I was annoyed.

Look at the two pouches to the left, both with tassels. The larger pouch has a little pocket on the front. Well, the larger pouch has a zipper that shows the whole cloth part of the zipper. Not cool. The inside of the little pocket has lining that is already picked and has tiny holes in it. I wonder how long it will be until it just shreds.

The two buckles at each side near the top zipper makes the purse too busy for me. The top zipper on the front has a matching one on the back. Those zippered pockets are over half the length of the purse, so it seems top heavy when I put things in them.
The zipper in the top of the purse had a huge tassel, too. The zipper end of the zipper end is okay, but the other end is loose. I cannot close the zipper with one hand, so I have to hold each end of the zipper. It is such an annoyance!

Inside the purse, there are two open pouch pockets on the front and another zipper on the back inside. There are too many pockets, pouches, zippers and tassels.

The color is the only thing I like about this purse. I hate wearing it and carrying it. I realize I saw a picture, but basically, I feel like I bought it sight unseen. Plus, I put too much into it because I can. It is about 9"x10"x2", way too large. Thankfully, I only paid about $29 for it, I think. I will not toss it or just keep it. Hopefully, I can sell it or donate it.

The strap is too wide for my taste. The whole purse is made of soft, thin leather. The long strap was folded like long straps usually are folded. It has never lost the folds, so it looks cheap and not leather.

Tommy left a cheesecake on the counter for over 24 hours, okay--31 hours. I only ate a piece late Wednesday night. I noticed it was not firm and not at all even cool. When I asked where he stored it, he said on the counter. Yet, he knows to put cream cheese in the refrigerator. I told him that information about the refrigerator was on the box. He came back and said it was on the bottom. I guess he was justifying his action. He is learning. No, I did not yell at him, quite the contrary.

It is 24 hours later, and I did not suffer from eating cheesecake stored wrong. Dinner: chicken, green bean casserole for me. Tommy: chicken, potato, kidney beans, zucchini, potato and carrot. Everything was leftover, fine by us.

My 92-year-old friend is much better, no longer coughing with much congestion. But, her husband fell last Friday, so he is having physical therapy at home. I still worry for them.

I called a Master Gardener friend about the irrigation for flowers and food in pots. She at least gave me two names to add to my vocabulary when trying to say what I want. I know I do not want soaker hoses or overhead dripping onto plants. What I need has to do with tubes and emitters.

The lunch at the church with meals and musicians starts back up. We will go, sit, pack up meals to take out. We still wear masks so no eating!

Did you ever acquire a purse that was so annoying that you developed such a great dislike and unhappiness with its very existence in your life?

Do you water with the setup that includes, tubes, emitters, time and outdoor faucet connection? Anything I need to know?

Melted Snowman Sugar Cookies

This is technically not a Christmas cookie, so I am not out of bounds here, refusing to let the holiday go. With all the snow right now, these are right in season. These were the best pictures I could grab. But, the video has better visuals.

Melted Snowmen Sugar Cookies

I awoke late in the day. It was 11 am before I could sleep. I was mumbling to Tommy as I tried to clear my chair of mail. When I sat down, I was still mumbling. He was not here. He was not in the house. A note said '1 a.m. putting plants in utility room." It was after 4 pm when I found this note in my chair. So, I wondered if he were alive or dead in the yard.

The note actually said 'I am putting plants in the utility room.' He was not dead, thankfully.

He had also gone to neighbor's or the neighbor came here. Not sure. At any rate, now the wreath is cut in half to go over the mailbox next Christmas. I have plans stored in my head. Okay, It is a small wreath. Once it is fluffed, I will add other, longer pieces of greenery. There are very small decorations on this wreath. All will come off. I have 50% off plastic balls, red. I will wire those on, add greenery, add bow that is here. Then, I can wire it on the mailbox, maybe a string of lights with timer that I already own.

I was trying to figure out where I got this wreath. Maybe I did not buy this wreath? Maybe it was here? Tommy volunteered at that point that he had a wreath that he put on the door. I knew I had to bought this at a yard sale as I would never purchase such a tiny wreath. So, solved. I had his wreath cut up. He did not object or even realize it until now. But, he is not unhappy at all.

Today, Amazon delivered three purses I ordered, one black, one red, and one hot pink like the sandals I bought two years ago. The plan was to keep one and send back two. Well, these are better than expected even though they are extremely cheap for a leather purse. These are three different styles. I was going to send back the styles I did not care for. I have never heard of this brand--Krediz.

Have you?

Do you decorate your mailbox at Christmas?

I think the cute cookies could be made with store-bought cookies. Do you?

Tuesday--Free Lunch, Free Dinner, Free Snacks!

Today, J and I went to a church dinner. We got there a bit early and she painted her nails with some polish I gave her since she had none. We talked and noticed nothing around the car as we sat.

When it was time to go in, I was shocked. Not one soul or car was there. She checked her calendar and found we were there on the wrong day. I drove away and suddenly remembered another church had a lunch today. We turned around and went to the other church.

The dinner was spectacular and dinner will be, too. I brought home a go-plate. We had pork chops that were so tender and tasty. Sweet potatoes were baked in foil. I believe they were my favorite variety--Beauregard. Corn and a slice of bread with garlic butter finished the meal. They always have cookies in a snack bag for dessert. Unsweetened tea makes me happy every time.

We went to WM where I had one thing to get. Then, she went with me to Belk to bring shoes to me. I tried on lots of shoes and found nothing. Then, we went to purses where I did find something with her help, just not what I wanted. She does not have a purse at all. Since she will be helping me, I offered to buy here a $20 purse and she could work it off. I was not being mean, but that was the price of mine after several markdowns. It is not leather but looks better than my raggedy purse which was free and new a few years ago.

We came back here, sat and watched Dominique and enjoyed the warm weather with a gentle breeze. Since I had promised J Southern Living magazines, we came inside. Well, I thought the stack was 8 inches high. No, there were four stacks that were each a foot high. She only took about 1/3 of the magazines. When she is through with them, we will haul them to a food bank, a doctor's office, and various places. I only kept about 6, one of which belongs to my son. I had magazines of all sorts that I had forgotten about. They were out of sight in a closet, not cluttering my living space.

I wish I had the money I spent on magazines. Of course, they were cheaper than movies and more uplifting than going out--what friends did. By the way, I got rid of ten years of Victoria about fifteen years ago and never bought another one. This is just about the fifth time I have gotten rid of magazines. I want to keep them until a few years pass and all of a sudden, I don't want them, then I get rid of more.

Now, it is time to heat the take-out dinner and enjoy that once again. Snacks were cookies. Since I have had a banana, I will have strawberries, and an apple to round out my meal and snack later on tonight. Maybe I will have kale with the meal, too.

Dominique gave me two eggs today. Yesterday, she obviously laid one late. Then, there was today's egg.

My free things to do happened today. Two meals. Wow, and I did not mess up a dish. We had a very pleasant, low key, inexpensive girl's day out.

Your turn
Do you have too many magazines? Do you get rid of them often? Was the weather beautiful so you could sit outdoors in sandals and a short sleeve? Anyone get a free lunch today or lately?

Cute Purse to Make

cute and doable

I saw a girl in the store with an adorable purse. I would like to duplicate this. All the squares with slits are two pieces of fabric. the other squares have appliques (designs) sewn on by machine. Even a novice could make this purse, lining it and adding straps. She said it was too deep, so you could make yours any size that pleases you. This suits my sense of whimsy and parsimony.

These squares could be used for a coverlet or quilt top. The ones with the long slits like the white one near the center are just two pieces, sewed together and then with two long lines joined at the end. Cut between the two lines and the tshirt material sort of folds out. All the backing was a woven fabric and most of the front pieces are thsirt. All the edges are raw, but each block or square piece is sewn where the back has the seams, just a normal joining of seams in order not to see the part, the back where it would unravel.

In the bottom left is a labyrinth (spiral maze walking path for meditation). There is a peace sign in tie dye. There are other signs I don't recognize. I could see this done in dragons, trains, paper dolls with clothes.

By lining any size rectangle of these blocks, a lightweight throw, bedspread, coverlet could be made.

Just make sure woven fabric is used with tshirt over it.

The two-tone blue below her arm is her shirt.

Your turn
Does this strike your fancy for a project? If you make something like this, using this method, I will post a picture on my blog.
