Cold Dinner

As a matter of fact, Saturday night, I had two cold dinners. Each was equally delicious. First, we bought two boxes of Special K Original. After my nap, I had a bowlful with a whole banana sliced in it...delicious.

About 8:30, I had sliced chicken, cole slaw, and tomato. This one chicken breast is making me four meals.

Tommy ate much earlier, so not sure what he had other than chicken thigh that was flavored with the Boar's Head honey mustard that does not taste like honey mustard. He was agitated that I was going to use it on his thighs. Well, he calmed done once he squirted a bit on a finger and tasted it. He says the taste is okay on his food...lol.

I froze two of the thighs in pint freezer bag today with him admonishing me not to freeze too many. He can thaw the two thighs, one for each of two days or eat both at one meal.

I did get around to freezing most of the buns. The hamburger and hotdog buns had 16 buns each, 32 buns in all. We would take forever to eat that many buns unless we just ate them instead of bread. I froze the hamburger buns two to a package, hotdog buns were frozen three to a package.

We went to Publix during the tasting event from 11-2, but it was held at 3 pm due to not enough help. Not good. We bought strawberries, Vidalia onions. Potatoes were too expensive. We will either go to Pig or Food Giant on Sunday for those. I was too exhausted to do it on Sunday.

One package of the 1 lb strawberries was organic, one not. Both packages weighed 1.5 lbs. each. Yes, I weighed them. I wonder if they really do not have poison on them. I will see if they taste better than ones with pesticide.

I have five more pretty tomatoes. If Tommy gets the ribs out of the freezer, we will have ribs Monday along with potato salad, tomatoes, maybe baked beans. It is an easily prepared meal. If he does not get the ribs out, we will have leftovers and not worry about it.

It seems all we do is buy food, cook food, freeze cooked and raw food and give away food. There are days every effort revolves around food! Then, there are days we just get it out and eat.

The woman for whom we got food is no longer responding. So, we had three huge boxes, banana box size, full of food. About 20 lbs. was frozen meat. Lots of vegetables, pasta, bread, desserts. The first woman I asked had two preteen girls. She was happy to get it.

My neighbor could not find an electrician for two years. Then, she found one who did not complete the job and has not come back for two weeks. So, it is not me. Her son will be back from Florida vacation on Monday. So, the search continues.

Tonight, we watched Some Like it Hot, one of my favorite films. Then, The Defiant Ones was new to me and spectacular film with Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier. Now, The Boston Strangler. It has been a good night for films.

While I slept today, Tommy watched football. So, the awful season begins. I never complain or want to watch something else.

When I woke, Tommy asked me if the thunder disturbed me. I did not hear anything for the whole three hours even though he said one thunderclap sounded like it hit the house. Nothing, heard nothing even though he said it went on for an hour or more.

How do you feel about football season? Everyone has an opinion on football season!

Health Update and Breakthrough and Food

First, I skipped the brushing for three nights. One night Tommy did not want to and grumbled. It is the only thing about my health that has caused him to grumbled, so I did not mention it again.

Well, things got worse. The swelling in one leg made it so I could not bend my knee at all! The other was swollen a bit and both feet tingled and hurt. I told him how bad it was, and he could see my knee and foot. So, I disrobed and he brushed me on Tuesday night. I slept until 1:30 pm on Wednesday. My leg was almost normal size and feet did not hurt at all. Obviously, brushing is good for many things.

We had things planned for Wednesday, but it was too late. We collected the three grocery ads.
Water and Diet Caffeine-Free Cokes were cheap at The Pig, and I wanted coconut and Kraft Sandwich Spread. So, that was the only store where we shopped.

We also gave away food to a woman in the parking lot. Dinner was ready and waiting--baked chicken breast, potatoes, carrots. Lest anyone worry, I ate two small pieces of potato, and three pieces of carrot. No sodium was added. We could both eat several potatoes but don't.

Belinda gave me a link for lymphedema and lipidema. I left a message in the 'contact us' section. A woman called today from a company that makes and sells compression items. She gave me the number to call a therapist for either condition. I feel so grateful, like my life has been saved. So, I have a number to call in the morning.

I made a decision. If I do not have a turkey breast in the freezer or don't find one on sale, we will have chicken breast for our Christmas feast. The sides are the important part, anyway. Speaking of sides, I had better start making and freezing them. I have three bags of cranberries right now. Tommy does not want sweet potato casserole because--he said it just doesn't sound right...okay. But, he does want green bean casserole. I want some sort of Jello side, too, made with sugar-free Jello. Oh yes, giblet gravy.

I came back to the post and discovered there were no paragraph breaks. I never post anything this long without paragraph breaks. So, I put in a long break. It still show one long mess of text. Anyone having trouble with blogger like this?

Okay, I fixed it, I think. I had not changed one setting but figured out how to change back to paragraph breaks.

Resident Groundhog/Woodchuck, etc

Okay, I had chocolate chip cookies and milk for breakfast. I know it is not good for me, but it worked for me.

Usually at 9 am, the grass in the backyard is still wet. Today, before 9 am, it was very dry back there. So, going out to the chickens was pleasant. Today, they had not yet eaten or laid an egg. So, hopefully being fed early will eliminate the egg eating.

Before noon, it was 90 F. With the low humidity, as evidenced by early departure of dew, I can do some yard things without getting wet. The boxes I brought the chickens home in are still sitting out there. Something is dragging garbage around the yard, so I need to get that. Actually, something is dragging bags of recycling.

Instead of taking each recyclable thing out to the bin, I usually keep it inside in a grocery bag and take things out once each day. But, flies and fruit flies come to that inside. So, now I tie up bags and put them in the recycling bin. I have no idea what drags the bags all over the back yard. But, I know who gets to pick it all up. Tonight is the night to get garbage ready since the garbage man will be here by 7 am on Thursday.

Lunch--vegetable soup from Tuesday Free Lunch. I love having prepared no-brainer meals. A bit of chicken for protein, and I was satisfied. Today, the soup was much thicker, and I had more vegetables in it.

Remember I relocated a dead possum? Well, it appears I now have a woodchuck or groundhog, whichever you prefer.  I could not bend enough and handle the sensitive trigger to set the trap, so someone else set it. I was going to use strawberry caps for raccoons, but now I am not sure. I can use lettuce for the groundhog. Two baits in the trap should catch one of the other.
