Since I am stuck at home, I have done something naughty. My mind starts turning to things other than going where I need to go. So, I am naughty and making something decadent. Okay, not decadent, just chocolatey, sweet, and calorie-filled.
I poured a can of cherry pie filling into the crockpot. Then, I melted a half cup of real butter and mixed it into a brownie mix. The butter and brownie mix was dumped over the cherry pie filling. It is still cooking. It will make a good dinner. I wish I had ice cream. I will drink milk.
No, really, dinner will be tuna salad, lettuce, and tomato.
My tooth needs attention and I have an appointment with orthopedist. AND, I need wheels.
Rarely do I use cherry pie filling, but I always keep a can on the shelf. I also keep a can of condensed milk here, usually using it up before the expiration date. Maybe I should check to see how long I have had crab meat here. I bought it last year on great sale and with coupon, looked at it often, and said, "Not yet." Tuna works fine and is much cheaper.
By keeping a can of something I rarely use, I can make up something special at times like this when I am needing something else (car in this case), or just want something, or have company, I am not caught short. Being so expensive keeps me from eating them regularly. I do not need to eat either of these regularly, mostly because of calories.
(okay, I started eating the chocolate-cherry concoction, but it really runny and I don't care.)
Attorney will call me when he hears back from insurance. Boo!!! (I never heard from him all day.)
Of course, I always have green beans and vegetable on hand, mundane stuff but eaten often. What do you keep on hand even though you rarely use it?
Oooo Linda you have been reaaally bad! Lol!
ReplyDeleteT'Pol,
DeleteUgh, I know...lol.
I'm trying to use up stuff in our freezer....I had ice cream for lunch yesterday LOL
ReplyDeleteOne,
DeleteNow, that is funny! That would not travel well if you put remaining frozen stuff on ice to go the short distance to your new house. I sure wish I had some ice cream in my freezer.
I have an 8 ounce unopened block of extra sharp cheddar all the time. Before I open my existing one I buy a replacement. I always keep chocolate squares ( unsweetened and bittersweet) in the pantry. I always have nuts in the freezer as well as coconut and butter, so I can throw a dessert together at a moments notice. Additionally I keep a few frozen entree's (homemade ones) so I can easily and quickly take a meal to anyone who needs it.
ReplyDeleteAnne,
DeleteI do keep chocolate chips, butter, and nuts in the freezer. Right now, the chocolate chips are bittersweet and the nuts are pistachio. Soon, I will put fresh pecans in the freezer in pint jars. There may be coconut in the freezer, but it would be hazardous to try to get to it. Oh, I forgot I have almonds. No entrees, though.
I woke up hungry this morning! Now I'm hungrier LOL. Grandson's first going away party is Sunday and I'm thinking I'll bake some key lime bars for the dessert. I usually always have cream cheese in the fridge and a box of graham crackers in the pantry- always chocolate chips too and nuts in the freezer just in case....
ReplyDeleteNan,
DeleteI was just thinking about cream cheese, but I doubt I have any. Key lime bars would hit the spot right now.
