Is This True?

If so, why has this not been on the news. There is so much disinformation nowadays, that I am puzzled

IS THIS TRUE?

Why haven't these atrocities been publicized?

In other news, when I went to the cardiologist, the np said that the heart block was not new. The last test I had there months ago showed the same thing. The doctor had not informed me. I sat with my mouth open for a bit. I was shocked, told her so, and that he should have discussed this with me. She said nothing.

Are you familiar with the Lurlene Wallace? Her husband was George Wallace, governor of Alabama. She had breast cancer. Her husband decided he did not want to worry her, so she died of breast cancer. And, the doctor allowed information to be kept from his patient to please the husband. I was shocked at this information and cried for her 60 years after the fact.

She also said she suspected I had lymphedema. Funny thing, when I asked about this years ago, and many times since, each doctor said, no, I did not. How do they know? No one tested me. Or examined me for it.

The np practitioner at the cardiologist gave me a list of tests to come back and have at their office. "Call me at this number if you have any questions." So, I called and the people told me the stress test would only take 15 minutes, so a 30 min appointment would be sufficient. I argued with the list of tests in my hand that I was not scheduled for a stress test, that I had already had one. Well, they know better than I. Also, I had to tell them exactly what questions I had and they would ask the np. Never mind I had a half dozen questions that would probably have follow-up questions. She said, "I am going to tell the np that you refused to tell me what questions you had." So, it has been over a week and the np has not called back. I am baffled as to how to get past these minimum wage workers.

But, tonight, I figured it out. I will call and press any other button to get me somewhere else in the office and tell them that I need her to return my call. I know this won't turn out well for me, but I will try. There is always the office manager...lol.

Have you faced the initial contact who is argumentative and refused to give you an appointment to suit the tests? I can read and there is no stress test! And, a stress test is 15 min in the machine, plus, the insertion of the needle with meds, and the waiting time for the machines and people to push a person about. I was on a gurney, so it is not like they want me wandering about on my own.

Did You Ever Do Something Incredibly Stupid?

I cannot believe what I did! But, it all boils down to being a bit ill and a lot tired. I realized on Saturday that I was getting worse instead of better. The uti was not going away; it was returning!

Pills were counted. There were too many left. What had I done and HOW?

So, I called the doctor on Monday and told the nurse what I had done. I offered to give another sample, anything. I was not sure if they would give me more antibiotic.

Tuesday, I slept from 9 am until 4:30. There was no phone call from the doctor. Around 6 pm, I decided I needed another refill of a heart medication. We went down about 7:30 to get an emergency supply (3 pills) until I could figure out what happened to the prescription for the heart meds I received on the 20th. It was a surprise when the antibiotics were there, prescribed and ready.

I came home, sat down, caught my breath and reached to the left to my table. My hand was directly above the heart med, a full prescription, 90 days. I tell you I have been sick and out of it. Certainly, this is not my normal method of taking meds. I fully believe I will get better now.

Tommy sits with his day planner, mulling over something. Every time I ask, I think he is studying appointments or something. No. He is recording when college football games happen and who is playing. I am so glad I bought him a day planner.

We did nothing towards Christmas decorating. Tommy pruned lots of flowers in pots. He is getting ready to put them all in the laundry room. He also washed my underwear, towels, washcloths, and nightgowns. In the freezing weather he went two more times! He must have been freezing.

Dinner was great, all leftovers: baked chicken breast/brown rice/pimiento/broccoli, green beans, slaw. Then, I had 1/3 of the last roll Tommy was eating...lol. Plus, 6 pecans or a dozen pecan halves.

I decided I would only have two slices of bread each day. The rice was the sub for that, so no bread today. I did have four cookies. So, sue me...lol.

We have plans for tomorrow. It won't be raining.

Have you ever screwed up your medicine so royally? I still have not figured out how I thought I took it and did not. No pill I have looks like it.

I see people have snow. We are so dry, but the weather guy said we would have snow if it weren't so dry. Do you have snow?

What was your stupid med screwup? Or, someone you know?

Thanksgiving Gone, Christmas Music Here

I thought I started a new post. That must have been in my head! I had something to write about, but it has left my brain. Maybe if I ramble along, it will come back. I snoozed in my chair during the news.

All the Thanksgiving food is gone except for part of the turkey breast. I still have the thawed turkey in a pot in the refrigerator, so it will be baked tomorrow. Thankfully, Tommy is willing to take the meat off after I rip off the breast. I made such a little bit of gravy that I may make more gravy. However, coleslaw and green beans will be eaten instead of Stove Top and green bean casserole.

My goal was to get Thanksgiving/Fall put away the day of Iron Bowl, Saturday, but I wanted Tommy to help. I did it myself. It is all gone and in two orange Rubbermaid type boxes. Now, to tackle the red boxes.

I just cannot bend to dust. Sunday he used the Libman duster. It needs to be longer. When I pointed out he missed a table top, he said it was stuff stuck on. I think it was the residue that gas heat leaves along with dust. This is the dustiest place ever. So, I took a wet cloth and finally got it off.

Saturday night, I told him what to do to six-foot long bookcase that is less than three feet tall. Useless piece of furniture! Sunday, before I got up, he had cleared one end off but did not dust it...??? There is junk on the end nearest him.

Monday night late, after dark he covered up the plants outdoor with two sheets. I took the Libman duster out to shake and whack on the ramp railing. When he came in he said it scared him. I suppose I should have said something first. But, the duster is ready for him to dust the top of the bookcase which I cannot reach because of his junk in the floor!

I noticed when I put out Halloween decorations on the bookcase near the door, a little short bookcase, too, but not long, he started suddenly to sort and clean off the bookcase. So, I may put out Christmas on his two bookcases and let him clean around them.

The uti lingers. I have had an earache for a year or so, better some time than others. Okay, it has been two years. Now, it is almost unbearable! Plus, my back and kidney still ache. The fall did not help me at all. It might have contributed to the earache becoming so unbearable. I did land on the left side and barely hit my head.

Today, I found out that my primary care doctor got a wheelchair. Yay!

Tonight, we had chicken/rice/broccoli from before Thanksgiving. We added green beans. I should have had some slaw, too. This weekend I put the package of chicken breasts in the crockpot on high and they were done so I could freeze them. These were the ones for which we paid $1.99/lb. When I have baked chicken, I can take it with me in the car so I don't get hungry and eat fast food. I had Tommy tear me off a piece, I sliced cheese and he put in one of the brown and serve rolls. That beats a cheeseburger for my health and is cheaper, too, although he never minds the cost.

The next time the temp gets up to 70F, and it will, the lemon tree will spend the day outdoors. I am going to buy a grow light for the two citrus trees. Maybe I will just leave it inside and hurry to get a gro-light

Right after Halloween, Tommy found Christmas music on 96.5 FM here in Birmingham. So, I have been enjoying that on the run up to Halloween. The holidays will be gone too soon, it appears.

I broke down and bought store-packaged pecans and they are good, not all dried out. I bought South Georgia Pecans at Publix for right at $10/lb. That is actually cheap. The ones at the flea market were almost that much for a sandwich bag full. These are great for a healthy snack.  Now, I will make a pecan pie and make the pecans unhealthy. I have not made or eaten pecan pie in over five years, maybe more. I won't gobble it down and will severely restrict other carbs! As of today, I am going to more actively try to lose weight! They may have been bogo. Maybe not. I cannot find the receipt right now.

Are you on a weight-loss journey?

Have you found a station to listen to Christmas music?

Have you decorated yet for Christmas? Or, maybe started?

Thanksgiving Day, Before, During, and After

The picture above is not what I purchased, not Harry & David, but from Lowe's.

Well, it is the night before Thanksgiving, and we only have one more food to cook--green bean casserole. I always had plain green beans, but Tommy loves green bean casserole. So, I make it. We made one thing today, and I messed it up--pumpkin pie.

My back is still hurting from falling off the step on the car, so mixing it was agony. Well, the standing for mixing was the agony. I gave Tommy the recipe and asked him to get all the ingredients out. He did not get the sugar out, so I did not put any in the pie mix.

I was so disgusted since pumpkin pie is my favorite thing about Thanksgiving. I said we would just sprinkle sugar on top and mash it in. It was not half bad. We both ate the whole pie! That may be my dinner. I have done that before. No judgment! Today, I realized there were no regular Pillsbury pie crusts. I had gotten the last two packages of deep dish Publix had. So, I had Tommy go into Publix to see if they were back on the shelf and to get bananas for me. He got the last package of two pie crusts. Surprisingly, neither was chipped or broken to smithereens.

It was amazing they were not crushed, but both were sound. That is what we used for the two pumpkin pies today. The bananas were pale green, but I have one to eat over two days. So, I am okay for bananas.

When we came into the house, I saw a fire ant mound about 18" x 10" and about 8" high. There was another nearby almost that large. Soooo, I went into Lowe's to find Amdro fire ant bait. I could only find ant bait without the same two ingredients. The wind was too high to use a powder. So, Thanksgiving morning or evening I will apply.

We brought in the lemon and lime trees, put them in the back bedroom. The lemon tree is starting to shed. Maybe I waited too long to bring them in.

While at Lowe's I bought an Amaryllis that I love--Apple Blossom. It will have pale pink blooms. Then, I found a red Amaryllis that is coated in wax and needs no dirt or watering. It is covered in red wax, topped by white foamy wax (snow?) with large glitter. The only place to put them in the light where I can enjoy them is by my lamp.  I wonder how it can grow in wax and does not need watering.

Thanksgiving Day

Tommy woke me per my instructions at 8:15. I ate cereal before the Macy's Christmas Parade came on. I made it through the Ninja Turtles and took a nap. When he woke me at 3 pm, I was able to continue the parade from almost where it left off. It was wonderful even though I was not familiar with some of the balloon characters, songs or singers. It closed with Cher, Rockettes, and Santa, so I was back on familiar ground. I loved it all, the pageantry, music, and especially one fat little unicorn at the end.

We ate the other pie during the parade replay. It was better the second time. I am not a fan of hot pumpkin pie. So, the room temp pie all stirred up with sugar was better. All the pies are gone. Oh well.

Dinner took a while just to get out of the refrigerator and onto our plates. We served ourselves from the stove and counter.

Thanksgiving, I only had to assemble and heat green bean casserole. Of course, Tommy is the bringer of items to my chair. He turns on stove and does all the heating, cooking, and timing.

First, I will give the menu and then how I altered the recipe to make it healthier.

turkey breast

gravy

dressing

sweet potatoes

cranberry sauce

green bean casserole

rolls

Now, how I prepared it with less sodium and sugar:

turkey breast--baked with 1/4 tsp salt, pepper, rubbed sage

dressing--I used a box of Stove Top. The sodium was so high, I was horrified. I used a small colander in a bowl, poured the ST into the colander and sort of shook the colander to get the salt out.  There must have been 3 T of powder in the bottom of the bowl. I took half the powder from the area with herbs and used that and tossed the rest of the seasoning. I added more ground sage to the dressing. I put less butter in the mixture.

gravy--The roux was from 2 T flour and 2 T oil. After it was cooled, I poured off almost two T oil. I have heard that people brown the flour and use no oil. Maybe I will do this next time. I also used no salt, just pepper and rubbed sage. Yes, we love the taste of sage.

sweet potatoes--the sweet potatoes were baked, peel removed, and frozen and reheated. I put a tiny bit, maybe a tsp butter after they were heated.

cranberry sauce--I used a bag of fresh Ocean Spray berries, put in one cup of water and less that half the one cup of sugar called for on the bag. Yes, these were very bitter to eat, but I ate them with dressing and gravy or dipped a bite of meat into the juice.

green bean casserole--The 3 cans of French cut green beans and dumped them into a colander, rinsed well, and drained. Then, the green beans were soaked for an hour in fresh water and put back into a casserole. I used only 1/3 cup milk, 1/2 tsp or more of pepper. I did use French's Fried Onions. But, I used less than called for in the instructions.

rolls--Tommy baked these and let them sit out, uncovered. So, no butter. I sometimes bake them with a smear of butter, or rake a bit over the hot rolls. But, I just opened the almost-cold rolls and put a bit of butter inside mine.

I had baked a turkey breast three weeks ago and had frozen it. Then, I baked sweet potatoes and made cranberry sauce and froze it, too. Pies were yesterday, gravy roux two or three days ago. I could never have done this in two days or without Tommy's help.

Not one thing tasted as delicious as it was intended (salty or sweet) in the original recipes. But, you know what? It was okay and it was delicious, just less salty or sweet! I did not get huge helpings, but I was stuffed. I may not be able to hold more until tomorrow night!

I did not make mashed potatoes. When we eat the sweet potatoes, I may set Tommy to peeling potatoes.

Tommy was the one with boots in the kitchen. I mostly gave instructions, mixed things, seasoned dishes with my bottom in the recliner! It was all delicious. I will never use the high sodium and excessive sugar recipes again. Tommy didn't even salt anything. He said it tasted fine. I think the rubbed sage gives enough taste, Thanksgiving taste. Tommy did not salt one thing tonight! He keeps a salt shaker at his elbow for salting emergencies.

When I first met him and cooked delicious meals, he filled his plate, and then he salted it white. He could not understand how that hurt my feelings. But, because of me he quit smoking and has become accustomed to less salty food. He has probably gotten back his sense of taste, too.

Tommy is putting the meal away, loading the dishwasher.

It was a good day. A cold day. And, a tasty day! I feel like a nap! However, we are watching It's A Wonderful Life. It has been shown four times in a row today.

There are no regrets for today, only happiness. There was no disagreeableness.

Tomorrow, Fall decorations come down. Christmas comes out. But, one of us must dust first!

How was your Thanksgiving meal?

Do you watch the parade?

Have you ever browned flour to make gravy?

I Cracked the Code with Amazon

I placed an order with Amazon and somehow I ordered something that came in a set of 2. The resulting order was $55 more than I expected. And, I wanted to complain about a thrown package, and my hair color was crushed once again. Another item was ruined from the factory.

On Sunday night I tried to rectify these and complain. However, the Amazon agent could not find my telephone number or my email connected to any Amazon account. She insisted! I gave up.

Monday night, I tried again and was told the same thing--twice. Finally, I decided on a new strategy.

Anything I was asked by the automated agent who said he could understand me, I only had one response.

My response--"United States agent" It worked, sort of. The guy was in Colombia but a citizen of the US who was working for Amazon. That call saved me $74. And, he commented several times that I was a nice person.

Since I have not been able to find someone to clean who does not demand to know the square footage of the house or wants to bring a team of four people to get it done in one day, I decided on another tactic. I am going to call a church and see if there is anyone who will help. And, I will make it clear I will pay, want to pay, and insist on paying. I will just keep calling churches and make it clear I do not want it done free or someone with a business.

I want to pay a good price and the person cleaning to get it all. One woman was so efficient, good cleaner, and all around good worker that we gave her $18/hour even though she came for $15/hr. Of course, Tommy will pay for it. I don't want a woman to work and get $7.50/hour, if even that.

If they live too far away, we will pay $10 for the gas. We will not take advantage.

On Monday night we had our first rain of more than hundredths of an inch in a couple of months. I am not sure this will end our drought. Maybe it will lower the odds for fires. Wow, maybe more than two inches of rain. That will be a novelty around here lately.

Usually, November is dreary, damp, and depressing. I suppose we had 19 days of pretty weather, so I cannot complain.

Tuesday

It is dreary and dry. This kind of dreary depresses me and makes me groggy. I have a list of calls to make, so I better slog through that.

Okay, Tommy made the roux for gravy. Only, I called it white sauce and then had him brown it. The only thing not made is dressing. We may just have Stove Top Dressing.

Tonight, I took two casseroles large enough for two huge bscb each. I added 'no salt added" Cream of chicken soup to Tommy's and cream of mushroom soup to mine. The soup is so bland. I added a tsp each of garlic powder and onion powder to each, broccoli to both, and jar of pimiento to mine. I forgot to put cheese in mine, so I am slicing it thin for my portion, Tommy hates cheese on chicken, hates cheese in rice!

Each casserole had to be put on baking pan. We had to use a pan for each since they were so heavy.  In an hour we can eat. Yum. And, there will be another meal, most likely for Wed night since we have a daylong chore on Wednesday. Actually, we will probably get four meals from each casserole because the breasts are huge.

I have garlic and onions. But, it is so much easier spoon in powder. I never did this before the last two years.

It seems that there is lots of drama next door. Dogs bark incessantly. I think I talked about a huge fire in the carport during a burn ban. Yesterday as we pulled into the driveway, Tommy said there was a detective in one vehicle and a policeman and police car in front of their house. Well, it appears on of the fathers was picking up a child for visitation. On Monday? The father had his arms crossed and looked grim or angry. The policeman did not interact with anyone and stayed right by his car. Obviously, there is a problem. I would prefer to think the father was causing a problem, but that would be unfair.

The two children ran to the car and put their things inside. Then, a child still in the house who was obviously not leaving came out to hug one of the children leaving. Then, the mother twice hugged her children as they left. Of course, we will never know the particulars because we would never ask. That mother is hostile to us.

She is the mother who made her child run for punishment until he cried and was begging to stop. Plus, she pushed his face forward and pushed him along and would not let him speak to me in Publix. Mean woman.

AND, their cat has always sat and walked all over my car. Well, since it is cooler, it warms up on Tommy's car. Plus, it has decided sitting on the table on the front porch is the thing to do. Grrr...

Dinner should be done in less than an hour. It will be interesting to see how the lack of sodium affects the taste. We are saving over 800 mg of sodium in each dish of two meals, so over 400 mg in the meal.

The rain that covered the state missed this county. We had less than half an inch while north part of the state had over two inches, and south part of state had over four inches in some places.

It seems things are more difficult with Amazon. At least, I figured out the system even if late. Have you found the same and had problems?

Do you have a neighbor who seems to attract or cause drama?

Here Is the Right Video

Try this VIDEO. There is salty language, so maybe you want to just skip this.

We were at the gas station and I was confused, thinking he had parked in front of two gas tanks. Then, I realized my mistake and said, "Oh, that is the Christmas gas." I rarely hear him laugh so much.  We first saw this on RV.

Quiet Days, Nothing Happening and Cooking Lessons

The skies were cloudless and the darkest blue I have seen in ages. It was beautiful, peaceful, and warm. A person could ask for nothing better. My aches are subsiding as is the uti.

This week, I bought beautiful Halos. When I ate one, I discovered it was dry and bitter. I am sorely disappointed. Tommy was shocked when I said I was going to take them back. He ate a Halo and gave me a section, sweet! I suppose I will not eat a whole one that is dry and bitter, just toss it.

I suppose I won't miss not eating Halos since my allergies started up and I can barely breathe. It is so annoying having allergies.

Thanksgiving is almost done. I still need to make gravy and pumpkin pie. Of course, I need Tommy to stand and brown the gravy. Oh, I want to make Jello with fruit in it. It may be shocking to you, but when I make the pumpkin pie, I will eat it for every meal until it is gone. Maybe I will make cornbread for dressing. Maybe not. There is always Stove Top Stuffing.

Some of the flowers I had think it is spring again. The strawberry lemonade are blooming. There are buds everywhere.

I have a list. Fresh pecans are at the top of the list. The last ones I had were frozen, thawed and put on the shelf. They were not good, not bad, just not good. Not fresh. Everything else on the list is stuff to do, like getting the last of the pistachios open.

Today, we went out for water and bananas. It was a joy riding in our old, raggedy car. It fit my back and always has. My knees have room. It is a joy.

Tommy just now put a bag of cranberries in the colander. I will talk him through getting them cooked on top of the stove. He is pushing back on browning the oil and flour. He hates gravy. I should have told him it was white sauce since he makes that readily, no pushback. But, since he knows I love giblet gravy, he will do it. Oh, forgot, I need to boil eggs to chop into the gravy.

I put cranberries and water on the stove and instructed Tommy to put a scant half-cup of sugar in them. Then, I had to explain 'scant' to him. It is funny and amazing the things he does not know since he has never cooked. I already have one bag, one pound, cooked and frozen. And, I have a can of jellied. I like both available. I have a third pound in the freezer to dehydrate.

Maybe I can sneak in gravy making since we have done so little today. He has watched football while I slept. Auburn lost, what's new. But, he enjoys watching his alma mater play. Maybe it mellowed him for gravy-making. I only want him to stand and brown the roux for gravy. I can stand long enough another day to finish it.

Do you prefer your pecans fresh or all dried out like the little packages in the store?

Do you ever have to give instructions to SO when cooking?

Once again, do you chop boiled eggs into your turkey gravy? YUM!

Coconuts, The Fall, Car Rental Fiasco

Mama always used a coconut, fresh in the shell, for all cooking at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I did, too, until I discovered canned coconut. However, I only find it sweetened these days. So, on Wednesday I was going to buy one at The Pig. No, it was about the size of a softball. Today, Thursday, I looked in Publix where they were about the same size.

In The Pig, Tommy shook them as did I. We found most had no liquid inside. At Publix, same thing. The best coconut had a crack. Nope. So, I bought one. It was small, too. I hope the meat is delicious. Tommy has never had fresh coconut, straight from the coconut.

Okay, the tale of car rental and my fall.

Tommy's car was shaking like there was something happening with fuel delivery. At one point, I could not ride in the car unless I leaned forward so my back would not touch the seat back. You can imagine how uncomfortable that was. After that, I declared it had to be repaired and we needed to rent a car.

Tommy called and rented on over the phone. We were told we could get a Rogue or something comparable. Not so! A Rav4 was what we got. I hit my head and just about knocked myself out...twice. We drove it to my doctor's appointment on Tuesday.

That was rough, so we got another car. The next one was an Expedition. It was so high that a step/runningboard came out for easy entry. We brought it home, came in the house to use the bathroom and head out again.

I went to the car first and struggled to even step up to the helper step. As I was trying to hold on and twist body into the car, my hand slipped. Tommy said he heard me scream and turned to see me flying through the air. I was crying after I landed. He said, "DAMN!" And, he was frantic to call 911 as I lay there crying loudly. Finally, I gave him my phone to use.

He told 911 I was hurt. So, the huge firetruck came with sirens and horns blaring. Three firemen came to me with equipment.

My greatest fear and my concern when I spoke to them was....

FIRE ANTS

The yard is filled with fire ants, as is the whole city of Hueytown. They got me sat up. I had landed on my left side. I begged them to get the fireants off me. They assured me that there were no fire ants on me. How could they know???

One guy sat by me or on his knees and gently cleaned all the leaves and dirt out of my hair and sort of pushed my hair the direction it need to be. The other two guys were brushing stuff off my legs. I kept asking about fireants, never mind I had hit my head and the rest of my body.

As they sat me up, one guy had his arm around me, holding me around the shoulders to lift me. I was softly yelling because he was holding me in a place that hurts from the torn rotator cuff. I told him why he was hurting me after I could talk.

They took the wicker lawn chair and told me they would put it behind me and to sit when I felt it behind my knees. Walking backwards is something that is difficult for me to do. All three held me while I walked backwards.

They wanted to feel my knees. Well, no. They hurt but I knew it was not bad. I actually had my knees bent when I landed. Both hurt when I fell. But, since I had bent them more in the effort to sit up, I knew they were not injured enough to be touched and make me hurt more. Since they could get me onto my feet, I suppose they knew the knees were not injured more.

I was very dizzy and off my feet for a few minutes after they got me upright, feet on the ground. We were going back to turn in the Expedition when I fell. I asked them if they would let me go to the bathroom and help me get into the car. They said they would. One fireman walked me to the door since they were being cautious with my condition.

In the bathroom I was 'squeee oh oh" because it hurt to pee because of the uti that I was sure I had. The one fireman was coming down the hall because he heard me. Tommy did not!

So, a couple of the guys were right behind me when I was trying to get into the car. I felt sure I would not fall again with them there. The closest guy was going to put his hands around my waist/just above, like a person would help a baby. Well, I knew that would not work without hurting me. So, I told him to push my bottom. He just froze. I said I was asking him to hold my bottom to get me in. So, he did.

I was in the car trying to get straightened out and told him I was not into him and he was not into me, but that move was necessary. He said he would not forget my asking him to hold my behind. It was the first time for him. I weigh almost 300 lbs, so he needed to grab a solid place.  I thanked them profusely.

After I fell, I told Tommy it was going back! Now! So, back to rental place. We tried another car and neither of us could get in. Tommy never can get into his car without hurting his knees because with osteoporosis his knees don't bend.

We went to rental place and told them we wanted another car. The employee was understanding. We did accept the last car they had, one just turned into the office. However, it hurt my back.

Monday--piccked up Rav4, went to doctor.

Tuesday--returned Rav4 at noon, got Expedition, fell, returned at 4 pm, looked at Rogue, drove Equinox away. That is three cars we drove and tried to get into one.

Wednesday--shopped

Thursday--returned Equinox, picked up repaired Rogue he owns.

His Rogue cost $1581.00 for replaced mass air flow sensor repair and valve cover gasket was replaced. I told him I was so relieved to pick up his raggedy, old car. And, that I like my raggedy old man...lol. Later, he said that even though I was hurt, I was still funny.

He had to return the car to rental company and then retrieve his car to come home. I did not feel I could drive safely. So, he was going to take a lyft home. Garage paid for that.

Tuesday night, I hurt all over. Wednesday, my left kidney hurt, still does. My left arm is still in pain up near shoulder. My left ear is more congested. My right hand hurts from hitting the ground. Both knees hurt. Tommy said I flew far and from a height. Tommy said I looked like the person falling in VERTIGO.

I still know I have fallen. I have no trouble getting into Tommy's car. Now, I do. The fall made my back problem worse!

Oh, the cars were nightmares. I whacked my head, could not get knees bent enough to have no pain. Who knows how to work the ac and heat and adjust seats? I wish they would take the huge cargo area and give passenger and driver more room. The back seat in one car was more roomy than the front seat!

His car is in the driveway, and I want to go hug it.

We ate what was in the refrigerator, and we are happy. Now, I need to go start the dishwasher and come back to watch a movie.

I will talk about the doctor appointment at cardiologist tomorrow.

So, that was my car rental saga and the fall from the step/running board of the car. I still hurt. I will call doctor about the kidney I fell on tomorrow. I have never fallen from a height since I fell down the concrete side steps in 1993 during a blizzard. As a matter of fact, those are the only two times I have fallen from a height ever. I have mostly done my falling with feet on terra firma.

The fall was not on account of my sandals. They are firmly on my feet, aided by swollen feet.

Oh, forgot about the uti. Wednesday, I called my primary doctor. Nurse said he would not prescribe without a specimen, which I knew. I asked if Tommy could pick up the specimen jar, and take it back to her when I had supplied them with a specimen. She said it was okay. So, Tommy brought me a specimen jar and a top hat in a plastic bag with drawstring. Doctor prescribed me an antibiotic I have never hear of before. The best part is it did not make me sick, dizzy, make muscles or joints hurt. I tolerate it well and felt better immediately. Of course, I will finish it. The drugstore only had half the amount prescribed, so I will get the rest tomorrow.

EDIT: In the fall I broke my nail on left index finger into the quick. My middle finger on the right hand was broken so that there was a point on the nail. Plus, when I fell, I hit the lawn chair and left a nasty looking scrape/gash which broke the skin. However, it is all better and not infected now.

Do you find newer cars are difficult to get into and to find the right buttons for use? Do you ever whack your head? We will get another car for both of us. We have a list of cars we will not even get into.

Have you bought a coconut that was tiny and not large this year?

Grocery Deals

Today, despite how I felt, we shopped in three grocery stores. I felt so awful, I made him come with me. I am still fuzzy-headed, in much pain, and one kidney hurts, the one I fell on. Or, maybe it is the uti. This is groceries bought this week. The store was packed like it was the day before Thanksgiving. People were after the same BOGOs I was.

Short and sweet...

Publix

two packages of 2 deep dish Pillsbury pie crusts bogo ... $4.59 for four crusts

2 red delicious apples $2.98, so large I will only eat 1/2 each day

2 Nestles semi-sweet morsels bogo, so $4.19 for both packages

Mandarins $4.99 maybe 3 lbs

4 one-lb packages Land O Lakes butter bogo, so $14, $3.50 each lb. These were packaged in half stick.

Carrots Organic 1 lb. $2.49, not a good price, but better than anything else.

Gold Potatoes, $6.99, not a great price, either.

Yellow onions $2.99

Lakewood Cranberry juice--only cranberry, one quart and $10.99, for uti that I have antibiotic to cure.

Savings--$36.41

Total $79.64

Piggly Wiggly

Free item--McCormick Brown Gravy mix

2 Miracle Whip $10.80, $5.40 each

Broccoli Crown $1.93, but advertised for $.99. I will have to look into this.

Turkey-sized Reynold's cooking bags

Lewis Brown and Serve Rolls. $2.03. I wanted the cheap ones like I had at home. I waited too late last year.

60 or Better We had a minus $1.18 x 3. Not sure how that worked. So -$3.54

Total $26.97

Food Giant

BSCB $1.89/lb, so got $12.92

Coleslaw $1.99

Total $15.43

Total Spent Today $122.04

WRONG

I bought at Publix Campbell's cream of chicken and cream of mushroom, no sodium, BOGO. So, it was $.99 cents/can. Then, bag of cornmeal, and one other thing on sale. That was another $7, I think.

So Corrected Total would be around $130.

This is regular spending with Thanksgiving bargains thrown in. Some of it may not be eaten until Christmas or next year.

I am too sick to go over this post. So, here it is.

We keep chocolate chips for a snack. It beats more costly and more fattening snacks. It might take us a year to eat the two cheap bags I bought today. I keep them in a short, amber, pink jar with a drinking lid. We just open it and shake the chips out.

Of course, I will cook the chicken to freeze. I think we will have a chicken/brown rice/broccoli casserole. We will both have the chicken/brown rice and broccoli. Tommy loves that. I will make two small casseroles so I can put cheese and pimiento in mine. Each of the tiny casseroles will have one chicken breast and will make at least two meals.

I wanted to make pumpkin pie without the pie crust. But, Tommy really wants a pie crust. So, he gets crust which I will eat, too.

EGGS--I forgot them.

Feverish and shaking here. Can barely walk. Tomorrow, maybe I can relate the fall from a height and uti and maybe cardiologist visit.

We are under a burn ban, and the weird neighbors with barking dogs had a huge fire in the carport. They also have pile of junk all over the carport. I did call police. I have no idea of the outcome of that visit. The bit of rain, measured in 100 hundredths of an inch, did nothing to assuage the danger.

Are you finding good deals for Thanksgiving? We will only buy turkey breasts. So, I am ignoring turkey deals...maybe...lol.

Rucking for Your Health

I am recovering from my worst fall ever. And, I have a uti. So, read about rucking tonight.

I will have to try Rucking.

Urspo talked about this. Not sure when or where.

Popcorn and Car

Saturday was a rough day. I jumped up late and rushed to the bathroom and almost fell into the space between the commode and the sink area, EMTs would have had to bring a crane to get me out of there. In the meantime, I had left my glasses in the bedroom and my phone.

We rushed off the Publix to get the bogo pint freezer bags, and they did not come in today as they were supposed to do. So, we have another rain check.

The car runs so rough! I rode in it the mile to Publix, turned it off in the parking lot, rode home and I was sick. The quivering in my chest continued for six or more hours. I had slept another 8.5 hours, so I should have felt well. I told Tommy to rent a car so I could get to doctor alive. I could not handle 20+ miles of the rough ride. I also told him one of us is getting a car and sell the one we have. Both of us needs a new car. He just refuses to have this car repaired. He bought some sort of additive, but the car is not better.

Saturday night, he surprised me. He found the popcorn for air fryers that I bought 3 years ago, and he refused to let me pop for him to try, saying he likes the bags to microwave.  He said, "This Orville Redenbacher bottle of popcorn was on the table. I have seen it there and decided to pop it." I told him I bought that and he refused to eat it if I popped it. He has no recollection of yelling about that 'plain popcorn' and saying he wanted to microwave bags of tasty popcorn. Orville Redenbacher comes in a plastic bottle. I put it in a quart, wide-mouth fruit jar and taped the label on it.

I never had an air popper, just bought the best popcorn and used the microwave.

He did not even put salt or butter on popcorn tonight. He has sworn he won't eat it plain. And, he did. I prefer unsalted and unbuttered popcorn.

The other day, I stopped on the ramp corner and asked Tommy what a plant was. Blackberries! The canes are about three feet long. This was from a long cane on the plant we bought this spring. He put four pieces of can in a pot. Two took off. Maybe the other two will next spring.

I had asked him to prune the flowers we are putting in the utility room. He did prune one when he broke the scissors. I bought pruning shears and he did not use them. I wanted him to prune on or two flower  flower pots a day until they were done. Oh, NO. Then, today, he said the plants were too wet and he would get wet. So, he will do them eventually. I did remind him that this was the first wet day in over two months. Maybe we will have more dry days. When I say 'wet,' I mean mist. It may have rained somewhere but not in this town.

Tomorrow, he is getting up very early to call and rent a car. Otherwise, I cannot get to the doctor on Monday. I suspect we will have a new car by the end of the week. He cannot get into mine easily. He struggles, then cannot drive it as he sits wrong in the seat. It is almost impossible for me to get in and out of my car, especially out. I don't feel like driving anyway.

Can you eat popcorn with no seasoning? What seasoning do you prefer?

Do you have trouble getting in or out of a car because of the low seat as opposed to a higher seat in a van or SUV?

New Cardiologist

I could not believe the cardio office called and pointed out I missed my appointment I had last Tuesday. Yes, I did not go. It was at the doctor who said he did not know what doctor could help me with my swollen left leg. He told me it was my 'size." No, that is not right.

So, when she called asking if I wanted to make another appointment, I said 'yes, but not with doctor name. She said, "I see he is treating you for venous insufficiency." Well, that was a surprise. So, I have an appointment with a nurse practitioner. This appointment should yield better results since I will see a nurse practitioner.

Tonight, I baked the $1.99/lb bscb. There were nine breasts, so nine or more meals. I had green beans, slaw and half a breast that I chopped and used bbq sauce. Tommy had slaw, green beans, and a salad. We usually each eat half a chicken breast which we did tonight.

The road in front of the house almost got wet today. So, it is supposed to rain enough to measure on a rain gauge--0.005 inches of rain is the forecast. It has been dreary out and was about 60F today. But, the pollinators are going crazy over the lemon tree.

I slept 8.5 hours last night and woke feeling well. The only thing I did differently was go to bed early--3 am.

This weekend we will be chasing Ziploc pint freezer bags bogo. Seriously, we have no plans. What are your plans this weekend? Are there any veterans in your family or life?

My Barbie Clothes

Remember the grab bag for which  I paid $2? Two items in it will become Barbie clothes. There were two pair of spandex panties. One was raspberry and the other was a pink striped. I decided these would be the basis of two new dresses for my Barbie. The elastic will serve to be the ovr-the-bust area so I won't have to worry about the dress falling down or my shaping it. I will make the dress as long as the material will let me.

It will need sparkles or lace or tulle or something shiny around the top and bottom because these will be fancy dresses. The price of the panties is negligible. But, the price of the adornments will be more. This is where my stash of bits and pieces of lace or rhinestones would be handy. Alas, I no longer have these bits and pieces.

For years, I saved these bits. It was not hoarding. It was probably what some would deem 'junk.'  There were strings of pearls, you know, the kind sold by the yard. I also had a stash of ribbon ends. Maybe some of you keep this kind of stash.

The other day, I took a crimson grosgrain ribbon that was tied to a stack of four tiny plates and put it with my new collection of bits and pieces I save for decorating a bow for a package, doll clothes, and other decorations. But, I don't have this old well-stocked box now. I even saved brown grosgrain ribbon that I can use for Thanksgiving.

Do any of you save bits of ribbon or rhinestones to add to something you are sewing or gluing? Do you save bits of ribbon for embellishment. It is fun to have a little box to rummage in for something to complete a look for seasons or dolls or to put on ribbons on presents. Maybe is is just me.

Today, I bought two yard flags, the small ones, for Halloween. They were 90% off at Lowe's. I paid $0.49 each.

One is two squirrels with a squirrel with bolts in his neck and another is a rabbit pushing a wheelbarrow with a stack of three pumpkins. Of course, I only have one of the holders, but that is enough. They are in an orange box now.

I was in Lowe's to buy a pair of pruners, the short ones, for Tommy or me, most likely him, to prune the flowers before we store them. Each pot might have one blossom, if any at all. Tommy broke a pair of scissors because he could not find our other pruners. I think I received the scissors for free from Harbor Freight, so no big deal they broke. He has used them on heavy cardboard and the tough plastic containers before, so it was their time to go.

We drove to Hoover to shop at that Publix, getting things for holidays, and bogo that was not here in Hueytown. Jimmy Dean one-pound rolls of mild sausage were 2/$4. In another store, Tommy noticed it was almost $5. We will want sausage balls a couple of times during the holidays.

It has been 73 days since B'ham has had more than 1-inch of rain nd 54 days since we have had more than 1/2-inch of rain. Friday, it should rain, but not much. Hopefully, no more wildfires will occur.

In Lowe's I met a really friendly woman, and we exchanged telephone numbers. When I asked her if I could have her number, she was eager and asked for my number in return. Lovely woman.

Do you keep scraps of pretty things and ribbons to embellish something without buying new items all the time?

Do you ever hit up Lowe's 90% Off sales after holidays?

What cooking/baking supplies for the holidays did you buy this week?

BOGO Groceries and Amazon Order and Treadle Sewing Machine

                                                                        not mine

On Tuesday night, I went over the ads online for the three stores in which I shop. One store had two things I needed, one store had one thing, and another had a dozen bargains.

I slept little, got up and went back to bed. Since I needed to get up by 1 pm and Tommy woke me at 1:20, I was rushed and hurting. I rushed and had a tuna sandwich for lunch. My friend was coming by to help with the grill. It seemed there was nothing wrong. I just did not know it was on.

While it was on, I decided at to grill the two hamburgers I had left to grill. Then, it smelled so good, I wanted to eat right then. We both had a burger on bread. Since I pulled off all my crust to eat less bread, I knew I was not going to need a lot of dinner. We both had a huge salad for dinner.

After the burger we went to three grocery stores. Food Giant had chicken tenders for $1.99/lb. I think the two packages had six pounds. Tomorrow, we go back for rolls of sausage 2/$5--Jimmy Dean. We can have sausage balls for a festive treat.

The Pig had salad greens cheap, so Tommy bought two bags. We will probably eat these two bags and get two more before the sale goes off Tuesday night.

Publix: Del Monte Fruit Cocktail bogo, Eagle Brand Milk  2/$4. Pint ziplocs were bogo. Planters jars of peanuts bogo. The Cheerios Tommy likes were bogo. I will get two square snaplock storage containers to use as a sandwich box or food containers to take with me in the car. The glass ones are too heavy and too dangerous. Plus, they often have food in them when I need them. Plugra butter is on sale.

Plugra butter is on sale. I have never heard of that brand. Have you? Stuffing is 2/$5--not impressed. There were lots of items on sale, stuff I have bought much more cheaply earlier.

When I received an Amazon order today, I was puzzled. I had ordered Halloween candles, but not two packages. Plus, I had ordered another set of three candles that run with batteries and have a remote. Why did I get two. They can send me more than I order, but just don't charge me! lol The price for the whole order is almost twice what was showing when I placed the order. Now, I have to straighten this out.

Besides the candles, I bought a leather thimble. It is too stiff, so I will take it to a cobbler friend's shop to fix it. Also, I found a book about working on treadle machines. This will be my bible for a bit as I work on my treadle machine my mother gave me. She no longer had her grandmother's treadle, the one on which I learned to sew. However, she bought each of us three girls a treadle at yard sales on year and gave them to us at Christmas. It was a wonderful gift for each of us.

Now, I won't have to depend on someone I don't trust entirely to work on my Singer Treadle if the work is beyond my skills. Some unscrupulous repairers take parts from customers' machines to repair their own machines or to repair machines of people who will pay exorbitant prices in order to have their machines repaired.  Mostly, the repaired machines to sell. Now, I know exactly where to oil and what kind of oil. Plus, there are special tools I need.

I have a treadle machine sitting in the carport with a modern electric machine in it. The plan is to sell the machine head, sell all the wooden drawers, and make a table out of the iron base. This is apart from the Singer treadle machine Mama gave me. I would never take it apart.

Mama made very nice dresses for us when I was little on a treadle machine! A treadle machine holds a special place in my heart, heritage, and thoughts.

Have you ever sewn on a treadle sewing machine? Did you learn to sew on one? Do you own a treadle sewing machine?

Did you find good deals on groceries this week?

I Forgot the Best Part

As I approached the electric cart the clerk brought me, I was shocked. There by the back wheel was a shiny, new dime.

I did not sleep well or long Monday night, took an early nap from 10:30 am to 1 pm, got up and just quit running at about 6:30 pm.

We cleaned out lots of leftovers for dinner. Tommy had the last thigh I thawed last week along with slaw, black-eyed peas, potatoes, carrots, and Brussls sprouts. I had the last pork chop, half a carrot, 1/2 small potato, Brussels sprouts, slaw. I suppose the only difference in our dinner was he had a thigh and I had pork chop.

Tommy's car is making a huge sputtering noise and shaking. He said it might be trash in the gas tank that was now in the engine. The car shook me until I was exhausted. I don't know if he is going to take it in or just wait until something is ruined or until it quits running. My whole body hurts from the jarring thar lasted three hours.

Amazon or an Amazon pretender emailed me, asking if I had placed an order while near Washington, US. It seems the order was cancelled. I hope so. I had ordered something not an hour earlier. I ordered something two weeks ago. I wanted two items. However, each box had two pieces, so, essentially, I have four when I wanted two. I did the same thing this time. Thankfully, it is something I can use two.

Tommy was commenting yesterday that there are no birds. Usually, we see so many when sitting in the car. I suppose they all flew south. When he put my lemon tree out, he said three pollinators were happy to see it.

I was in a big box store and made a shortcut that just happened to go by a 20' display of birdseed. There were a dozen flour moths or kitchen moths fluttering about the bags. Anyone who buys a bag of birdseed will take home pantry moths. Be careful. Freeze the whole bag first or leave it outdoors. I suppose you could empty the bag into gallon freezer bags, freeze it for three days and then bring indoors.

Are there birds still at your house?

Shall I Go Blond?

I need to make a list of things to discuss and ask my gastroenterologist, so cannot ramble on about everything.

Today we managed to make two returns at two different stores. Tommy was sitting and waiting for me in the store. I rushed past him while looking for the Halloween leftovers. I turned right around because he might have something to tell me, not just saying 'hi' to me. Well, I was shocked. He was showing me where the discount Halloween items were. I will tell you about those things next year. He was encouraging me to buy stuff. I can barely believe it.

One thing I did buy was a long, blond wig. I tried it on and took a picture of me in it. Maybe I will go blonde. Of course, it would be a wig, just better quality.

I fried hamburgers and onions in a skillet because Tommy would not take my advice after he could not get the grill to work. I had slaw with mine and cheese. He had a salad with his burger and no cheese.

The turkey is now sitting on a dark green bowl. His presence is stronger since he is higher.

It has not rained here since the first week in September. (I think that is right.) Humidity was 19% on Thursday. I like it even though I know we need rain. November with its usually ever-present rain is so dreary and sad. It will happen!

When I went to Publix today, an employee offered me a tote bag. It was free, a Fall design.

So, maybe I will get a good blond wig. This was $3.00, 75% off original price. I had Halloween wig long ago, but ratty looking from a yard sale for a quarter.  The picture is a wig but not as thick and blond as the one I bought.

We actually finished our list today. We started early after lunch and beat the school buses and school letting out.

Do you have a drought in your area, too?

Do you think I would look good as a blonde?

Bulbs, Pansies, Cooking, DST

The new turkey decoration made of resin and about 10 inches tall. It sits atop a bunch of fall leaves.

Today is very warm, so Tommy took the lemon and lime tree outdoors after they had been indoors during the cold snap. He said that a bee was settling on a flower as soon as he put it down. Good job, bees. While reading about citrus trees, the article said to just take a finger and wiggle it on the center of the flower, that was enough to pollinate a flower as they do not need to be cross-pollinate with another flower. Good to know.

Oh, the lime tree has a blossom. I read about how fragrant lemon blossoms are, but we cannot smell them. He brought the trees in, it went past me, stayed in a room where I went, and came back past me--no fragrance. Well, I left by the front door and wondered what the heavenly, soft fragrance could be. I stepped over to the lemon tree, pulled a branch toward me and was pleasantly surprised at the frangrant blossom I had to my nose. This is such a lovely surprise!

The black-eyed peas are done. I will put a few in the freezer for NYE in case I am overwhelmed when we need them. Otherwise, they are ready to eat. So, that makes sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, turkey breast, broth, black-eyed peas for Thanksgiving and NYE in the freezer.

Right now, I have eggs in to boil so I can make tuna salad.

We left for Lowe's about 3:30, needing to return something to DG. Well, by 5 pm, just after coming out of Lowe's, it was too dark to be out, so we came home. The early dusk are actually worse than the cold where I need more clothes. I have Purple Prince tulips and daffodils to plant together, interspersing them in in a planter. They are beautiful in the spring. My concrete bunny needed pansies, so I bought bright yellow.

I miss Daylight Saving Time. Do you?

As I came up the ramp a few days ago, I noticed a hanging planter that was smashed. I asked Tommy how that happened. He said he had to squeeze the heavy plastic pot to get the dirt out. When I asked him to explain, he said the dirt was so hard he could not get it out, so he squeezed the pot to break it up. Now, there is a pot on the porch with two tools for dirt--a little rake and a trowel. AND, he knows where they are and has used them. Plus, I pointed out that water loosens dirt. That made me so angry. I am not sure if the hanger part with the hook can be put onto another pot or not. I will try. Maybe the pot is crushed but not completely apart and will still hold dirt. I don't know why he does these things.

At Lowe's I was going to buy brown spray paint to paint a base to elevate the turkey because it is too low. But, I was not going to pay $7 for brown paint, the cheapest they had, something I cannot imagine ever using again. I do believe I have brown construction paper from a pack bought for red paper. I will cut that and tape around books to achieve the look I want. I do have black paint, so I can use that. But, I had my heart set on a brown base. Really, I wanted a piece of a tree limb or trunk about 6" high.

Now, I have to cook pork chops and the nine bscb I planned to cook yesterday. Okay, I put the five pork chops in a pan with trimmed Brussels sprouts. We have leftover vegetables--carrots, potatoes, and cole slaw to eat with this.

I always fried pork chops in a cast iron skillet and they were delicious. But, in the oven the did not brown, so there was not that delicious taste gotten with browing in cast iron.

It is wonderful outdoors, 75F at 3:30. Okay, now it is cooler out at dusk. I could be happy with these temps all year. It will be warmer later this week or next, forgot which.

Do you miss DST?

What flower besides pansies can be grown this winter in my concrete bunny? Some are too tall. Pansies are just right because the flowers cannot be too tall.

How do you cook pork chops?

My Lot

After I pasted the picture on this post, there was no way I could enter text. What on earth is wrong with blogger or my blog? Anyway, people have asked for this.
Now, it appears there is no place to comment. Yes, there is a place to comment. Just go all the way to the bottom below the picture.

Halloween Lingers

Elephant's Child, I cannot post your comment or reply to it. Sorry, not ignoring you.

So, no one has found me? Can you not comment or just not reading my post. Tell me at lgd113@yahoo.com if you can read and if you can or cannot post. Thanks.

It is a slow start to decorating even minimally for Thanksgiving. The mums and big fake pumpkin are still out, plus the fall leaves. I had an orange watering can with black roses and orange peonies behind the three candles. So, I needed something else back there. Today, I bought a colorful turkey about ten inches high made of a very light something.

I may get out all the tiny pumpkins and put them in a glass bowl with the leaves. I wanted a large cornucopia, but do not want to spend the money. Then, decorating is done.

Okay, it is more than one Halloween item. In the grab bag I bought, there was a box of bright yellow pumpkins. I thought they were window stick-ons. No. Then, I thought they were to stick onto clothing or sew on. But, after picking them, trying to figure them out, I think they are iron-ons for clothing. I will wait until next year to figure it out.

Then, there was a package with a picture of three sunglasses-like items. No. Inside were a dozen pairs of cardboard glasses that looked like masks. Next year, I will post a picture.

Third item was a banner that I thought would say HAPPY HALLOWEEN. But, there was a "U" in the mix of loose letters. There was a long ribbon to thread through the little holes at the top. So, there are three items to use next year or give away. It is all packed away, never to see the day of light until next year.

All my plants are done. Now, we have to put the sleeping babies in the utility room. The lemon trees have been indoors for two days. They go back out tomorrow for a few days of high temps and sunshine.

Something happened that never happened before. I ran out of bananas and apples on the same day. Horrors! So, they are on a list for Saturday. Exciting, huh? A peach sounds good.

Saturdays we work around Auburn football and often include Alabama. Saturday, I have a list. Cook blackeyed peas, bake 9 bscb, buy apples and bananas, repair a necklace, make a return, buy a commode brush. Auburn plays Vanderbilt at 3 pm, so we need to get this done beforehand. It will be too dark early to do it afterwards. He plans to watch Alabama and LSU. Maybe I will bake something with the Granny Smith apples.

What are your Saturday plans?

It's Back!

I have no idea how I can post! What did I do? I have no idea. The only reason I made a new blog, moreparsimony.blogspot, was because I could not get into this, my original blog. So, I will be here from now on.

The last time I posted was October 8, I believe. So, I will continue, starting there. I started making notes of notable or not so notable happenings.

October 18--Baked sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving. We had one meal and the rest went into the freezer. These are part of the sweet potatoes we bought Fall 2022. They are still good. We store them in paper bags out of the light and in correct temperature.

Oct 19--Frasier is no longer on TV late at night. This distresses me greatly. I saved $8.45 at store. Forgot how.

Oct. 20--My 92 year old female friend told me she has decided she won't get on a ladder and clean the gutters this year. What!!!!! This is the friend who had a knee replacement about five years ago.

There was a new program that only had two programs--Great Halloween Fright Fight. It is like the Christmas show where people decorate houses. It was fun.

I told Tommy to turn stove eye on and put something on the stove, probably eggs to boil. I told him to turn it to 4 o'clock. A few minutes later, I went to look and he had put the eye on 7 o'clock. I was horrified and admit to yelling at him a lot! He still insisted he was correct and I said it wrong.

Oct 25--bscb were $1.99/lb at Food Giant. Publix had them for $4.99/lb. I bought four packages at Food Giant. The best part is that they were still frozen solid. He got two packages the first time. So, I sent him back for two more packages. Before the ad went off, I sent him back for three more packages. The first packages were put in the freezer just as they came from the store. The last three packages are ready to be baked.

At Publix I found no sodium Campbell's Cream Of soups for $1.99. That is high, but I was not going to wait for a sale and miss this iteration I need. Later that day, I saw the soups with sodium for $1. No way just to save money.

French's Fried Onions are much better than Publix brand.

Oct 27--I needed a notebook to make me a new recipe book. The ones I looked at were $3.98. Well, in the midst of all these colors, I saw a $1 sign on the purple ones. I would never buy the purple, but for this price, I will tolerate purple. When it did ring up at that amazing price, I went back and bought four more.

I found cranberries at an exorbitant price, $2.99, I think. I bought them. They Ocean Spray. The few times I bought other brands, they were not good. The recipe on the bag called for 1 cup of sugar. I used 1/4 cup. Yes, they are tart, but will be good. If they are inedible, I can add more, but I won't.

Oct 29--We went to two neighborhoods to see Halloween decorations about 7:30. There was nothing out or turned on!

Oct 30--Returned a purchase to Macy's. Ate at Five Guys, part of my birthday. I don't remember them being so huge. I had cooked onion, cooked mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes. Tommy only had catsup, mustard on his. I brought some of mine home and had it for dinner along with vegetables. That was too much meat! I will probably never go there again or maybe in a couple of years.

Oct 12--Had RSV vaccine. I have never been so ill from a vaccine!

Nov 1--Flu shot. No reaction. Arm is sore only when I feel for pain.

Nov 2--I paid for a car wash for Tommy's car because the windshield was smeared from his multiple attempts to clean them. He uses a squeegee  on a stick with sponge on the other side. The only liquid he uses is a little vinegar and water from a squirt bottle. The windshield was so dirty and smeared that the bright sun caused us not to be able to see out. He had just paid $9 for something for me, so I did not worry about the cost of $10. I cannot clean it because of shoulders. He just refuses to clean it properly, saying he can see through the dirt when the bright sun hits it. Yeah, sure! I have to warn him all the time about cars he about to hit. His excuse--I didn't see the car.

We had a turkey bought after Christmas in the refrigerator, thawing. So, I baked that and froze it in a gallon bag for Thanksgiving. I will freeze the broth today.

Nov 1--We took down all Halloween decorations inside and out. The fall items will have Thanksgiving items added. There is nothing outside.

Nov1-3--Tommy covered plants with sheet that will remain until Saturday. Maybe it won't freeze again until nearer to Thanksgiving when we will put them up for winter.

So far, we have sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, turkey, and broth for Thanksgiving dinner. I made a list for Tommy to collect other canned goods I will use. He did. There is nothing we will need to buy. All was bought last year on sale. I do not want to be needing a can of something and be unable to find it for a cheap price in the crush of shoppers just before Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I have no idea why I can use this blog. But, I am happy.

Just before Thanksgiving, We will get latest Covid vaccine, maybe a bit earlier.

I wore my huge spider ring. No one saw it.

Is it true?

Can I really post on original blog? This is a test!
