I am on a roll

Mar 1

19,998 steps

Last night, I slept from midnight to a little after 7 am. I am proud of me. Sleeping most of the day is not the way I want to live. Hopefully, this will continue.

Since even now I am still in a state of shock at the state of world affairs, I am surprised I slept at all. But, I think the trauma knocked me out.

At the Pig, there were girls selling GS Cookies, so we bought two boxes, Trefoils for Tommy and Thin Mints for me. This won't be pretty.

At The Pig, we bought two cases of Dasani, celery, sweet potatoes, slaw mix.

I decided to have sardines for lunch. I had Beach Cliff. They smelled funny, not like sardines when I opened them. Tommy said they stunk. Well, I ate them, hating every bite. When I finished, the taste stayed with me. I carefully picked up the greasy can to read ingredients. They are sprats. ??? I looked up sprats. It turns out they are supposed to taste 'meaty' and not 'fishy." In other words, they do not taste like sardines. I drank water, ate a few chocolate chips, and brushed my teeth well. I still tasted like sprats. Tommy laughed and said not to wear a mask that I wanted to wear again because it might stink forever. I was glad to wear a mask because others could probably smell my breath. Have you ever eaten sprats? Oh, the can says 'Sardines.' No, they are not. Do you like sardines?

This was a beautiful day as yesterday. Yesterday, the day was a brilliant blue with not a cloud or chemtrail in the sky. Today, there were clouds and a breeze. The breeze was warm, but I knew my allergies would suffer. Of course, next week will be mostly rainy.

I have never gotten the taste of the sprats out of my mouth. I belch about every fifteen minutes, nasty smelling and tasting belches. I have no idea if it the sprats or soybean oil. I ate them about1 pm and it is almost 10 pm now.

Have you bought or will you buy GS cookies?

Skipping Thursday for Now

I started Friday by waking up after four hours of sleep Thursday night. By the end of Thursday, I was not doing well. Thursday, I was stunned and puzzled, and flabbergasted!

At 4 am on Friday morning, turned on TV to news and it was snowing here. So, I rushed to the door and everything was covered with snow. I yelled for Tommy. He got up to look and went back to sleep.

I can relate one funny instance on Thursday. The doctor who was old, doddered in, giving me a fist bump. He also offered one to Tommy. I said, "This is Tommy." Thirty minutes into the visit, he said to me In a conversational tone, "Are you married or single?" That question always bothers me. I said, "It has been almost 50 years since I divorced, so I don't know what difference it make how I got to be single." We both laughed.

Then, he pointed a finger at both of us and said, "What is your relationship?" Tommy and I said simultaneously, "Friends." He said, "Is it platonic?"

"Sometimes." Tommy said nothing. I could not believe he would even ask the question. It was bizarre!

I related this to pt. She was horrified. She had never heard of a doctor asking anything like that. But, she laughed about my reply-'sometimes'-saying it was a perfect answer.

It is after 5 am. If I can get another 4 hours sleep, I won't sleep all day and won't need a nap.

Another funny. Back in November, I bought a roll of chocolate chip cookies to bake cookies around Thanksgiving maybe. Tommy did not want any, I was coughing and sneezing, so we did nothing. After Christmas, he said to me, "A few days ago, you said you wanted cookies" with a question in his voice. (No, I did not even remember they were in refrigerator!) So, I sliced them all and quartered each dough circle. We made a dozen and put the rest back into the refrigerator. When I went to bed at 7 pm, he got them out to cook. The man could not have done this without my teaching him the intricacies. /sm He is funny sometimes.

So, I had three warm cookies I did not have to supervise.

I Could Have Been a Cookie Baker if I Had Known!

I tried to bake cut-out cookies. They were so cute. But, I was sick of dough rolling around the rolling pin, sick of cookies not transferring to the baking sheet neatly, sick of failure. So, I just made drop cookies or ones that were to be rolled into a ball to bake.

There were things I heard, but, until now, I had never read a comprehensive means of baking cut-out cookies. So, Baking Cookies. Who knew? I suppose lots of people, just not me.

This would have been a great skill to learn in Home Economics in hs. But, noooo, they only taught what I knew. Of course, most of the girls did not know the basic of cooking.

For some reason I deleted lots of comments today, comments from two posts. So, maybe I can reply here.

Belinda, Good to know there is another avid Mike and Molly fan.

Debbie, thanks for pointing out that Chef was talking about tubs and not chicken sign.

One, sign was probably made in China just like the one on Temu. So, cheaper from Temu.

Sandie, correct--yum blueberries.

When I find more unanswered questions, I will comment. occasionally, I will accidentally delete a comment, but not so many as today.

Did you know all these tips for mixing, cutting, cooling, and baking cookies?

Did you, like me, just giving up on using cookie cutters? (well, I use cookie cutters for other things)

A Cookie Press

Reading an article, I was reminded that I made cookies with a cookie press as a young teen. I am not sure why I quit making them. But, it was fun. Having thought about it overnight, I think I got tired of cleaning the cookie press. Mama expected me to wash it with all the dough in crevices. Imagine her wanting, demanding I wash it after using it...lol.

As I recall, it was fun and easy. I would not get a plastic press, but I would get a metal one at least as good as we had.

Have you ever made cookies with a cookie press? Did you enjoy the process? Anything seems more fun than using a cookie cutter. I have no talent for using a cookie cutter. Drop cookies are more my style. It is even better if they are no-bake.

How about you? Are you a cookie maker or do you prefer making cookies from the freezer department of the grocery store?

Using a Cookie Press

I barely slept last night, got up at about 6 am, sat here until 9 am, tried to sleep and got up about 11 am. I made scrambled eggs and had a glass of milk. My stomach never did feel right after that. I tried to sleep again, and finally jumped up, losing the eggs and milk. It has been a miserable day, stomach wise. We had to go to two stores. Tommy came in one to help me because I was too weak.

Right now, I still have outside clothes on, shoes and coat. Tommy turned up the heat, and I am freezing. I really need food, but am afraid to eat anything.

Now, I need cookies!
