I Won Again...TWICE!

My ad newspaper did not arrive until Friday instead of Wednesday. I saw an event I would like to attend. So, exhausted and hurting still from the accident and things I did on Saturday, I decided not to attend. Then, I just changed my mind and went.

The first church where  I ever had lunch was having an event to support the "Beans and Rice Ministry." They sold Bingo cards for one can of food or $1. I took five cans of food because that was all I could carry, more actually. The sign inside said a person could only play with five cards. Well, that worked out for me.

First, we had free dinner: hamburger or hot dog, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickle, onions. tea, and a table with condiments. I turned down the onion and pickles. Since no one ever has Miracle Whip, I did not even go there.  Dry hamburger is better than condiments I don't like. Oh, a little bag of chips, too.

We played Bingo--more on that in a bit. I did give a small monetary donation.

After Bingo there were Coke floats and freshly made popcorn in those little decorated cardboard boxes that sit up. The tables were decorated in a fifties theme with a record. Women and children were dressed in poodle skirts and men had on leather jackets or jeans and t-shirt with sleeves rolled up. Smokers had a pack of cigarettes rolled in their sleeves.  Not everyone was in costumes, just the ones from the church. But, I suspect there will be more costumes next month. There were balloons and other wall decorations. The room and the costumes were quite festive.

This is the church where people play guitars and sing religious songs  while we eat on a Tuesday. Saturday night, there were 12 people with guitars playing songs religious and secular. They played and sang Sam the Sham's "Little Red Riding Hood." Quite a few of the guys howled! I forgot which Elvis song they sang and played. "Double Shot of My Baby's Love" was followed by "I Have Been Redeemed in the Blood of the Lamb."

One of the women I sat with asked who all the guitar players were. There was one local judge and several doctors. I think they are all members of this church.

Even the fill-in priest came in jeans and a white t-shirt and an Elvis wig and sunglasses with attached sideburns.

During an intermission from music and Bingo, two hula hoop contests happened. Only little girls and women entered. The men were yelling out "encouragement" to the women. fun, fun, fun. No, I did not enter.

The Bingo cards came from this SITE and were printed on card stock. Each place had a plastic Hefty type "glass" of pinto beans for the markers. I am going to carry a bag of chips, markers,  or pennies next time. The beans are so fiddly to handle and place on the card. I kept touching the five cards and the beans rolled or scooted to another square. Or, I touched a bean somehow.  Beans are a cute and cheap idea.

Since my tea was in a similar Hefty plastic "glass," I kept mistaking one for the other and--drank beans and grabbed ice when I needed more beans. As I became more tired, I made this mistake more often. Embarrassing!

Maybe I will cut card stock squares and fold them so they sit on the board like a tent, a rather short tent. That will be easier to keep in place and move to the Bingo card. Or, I could use buttons. I have plenty of those.

First, I won a t-shirt from Rumors Deli. I love to eat there but have not done so in ages, okay ten or more years. I may give this to exbf or trade it for one in my size. Either of us can use another shirt, even if just to wear at home. Then, I won a license plate that says FARM. ??? Am I allowed to use that?

This is going to be a monthly event. I had FUN!

Yes, it was great. They said we are doing the same thing next month. So, I don't know if it will all be the same. It is all for the "Rice and Beans" ministry.

  5. Seems you had fun. Playing bingo or other gambling games are always fun to play. I am fond of playing gambling online rather than offline. I have won so many matches of casino and losses too!Blackjack
