Cancelled

I designed this photo and won 3rd place in an art contest, photo category. This was an outdoor table with a candlestick, and four candles. The box said dripless, but you can see someone stored other candles in the box.

Today has been hard because I could only sleep for two hours last night then had a 2 hour nap this afternoon. Instead of driving across town to his bank, he drove about two miles to an annex and had to walk in. It was quick.

This evening I cut Tommy's hair and almost did not make it. Just now, I asked him what he would say if I did not want to go. He said he was sorry I would miss going, but if I felt I could not make it, he understood. So, we will stay home. I really hate to miss the event. Missing Coletta's lasagna will make me unhappy. I have waited for five years for this.

Today, Tommy washed a load of clothing for me, towels and such. He washed the poop from the mailbox, sprayed another coat of red paint, and put new numbers on the mailbox. Two numbers were missing, so this was necessary. The mailbox was old and banged up, regular aluminum mailbox with black numbers on white background. Now, the box is red with gold numbers on black background. It is quite striking. We use the ramp as a means of telling people where the house is located. Now, we have a ramp and a red mailbox to locate us.

I cut my bangs, too, and I did a good job. I sat in my chair with a hand towel across my chest, no mirror, and trimmed bangs.

He told me he would get only one pair of pants. I agreed. Then, when we were looking, he said, "What do you say we get one black and one khaki? Of course, I agreed, so he has two pair that are not raggedy and stained.

Yesterday, I gave him a CVS coupon for $40% off a regularly priced item. He stayed forever trying to decide. I told him get anything. He called about getting a five-foot skeleton for $60 off.   He came out with Chips Ahoy. I was heartbroken because I will eat them. He also had another coupon for 40% off. He said part of the problem was almost everything had some sort of discount.

Today, he was really happy to get a car wash. It is the first for that car. He refused to wash the last car.

I was so close to calling an ambulance tonight. I keep choking. I was eating Hormel Roast Beef and Gravy, slaw, and grapes. I planned to eat more different foods. But, choking caused me to give up on eating anything. So, a trip to gastro doc is in order very soon.

Pants, remotes, vacuum, burger, slaw, weather, mattress, walker

For a few days, I have been so sluggish. Nothing seems bad, but I am in a haze it seems.

When I went to the grocery Saturday, I came home with two of the largest plums ever. Nope, did not buy them. I ate one. Was that bad of me? They would have thrown it away.

I found someone to come vacuum Wednesday. That is too long to wait, but at least it is something. She want $25 to vacuum. I wonder if that is per hour. She had husband speak to me. She will bring daughter to translate for her. I wonder if the daughter helps. We will see. I do doubt I will have her again.

We sprayed the house today and left to do things. I wanted to see if this guy in Bessemer who sells produce from his truck had things out. No. He will. I am sure he gets produce from the big Farmer's Market on Finley Ave, but I don't care. It's always delicious. The church was selling food, but I did not want to stop.  We had a small, plain burger in a parking lot with drinks we brought from home. Basically, we kicked around, wasting time until the stench from the Raid dissipated.

Dinner--burger, slaw, lots of slaw for both of us. I only put a smidgen of salt in coleslaw, but put too much in today. Then, I over-poured apple cider vinegar in the bowl. I had already put lots of mustard in the mix. It was a spicy coleslaw tonight. Tommy thought the salt was just fine. Ick I suppose I should have put the other bag of slaw mix in with the strong one.

Due to the beautiful weather and high temps, I did not wear a sweater, jacket, or scarf yesterday or today. I wore an airy, loose blouse that was not warm in any way. In the house I have not had to cover myself with a throw or use a jacket. Next thing we know, we will need ac on and I will need a throw again! But, for now, the temps inside and out are perfect.

I think we will go mattress shopping at Macy's on Tuesday. They are having a sale as is everyone else. They do carry Serta Perfect, the kind I had last that I loved. I almost fell off the bed again. It seems I just sat on the bed, lay down and turned toward the other side of the bed. When I decided to turn back, I was too close to the edge of the bed for my comfort! It actually frightened me. I have a stool with a boom box on it beside the bed. I would put the boom box on the end table, but the boom box has an eerie, bright blue light that would keep me awake. So, it sits on the stool facing the box spring.

Tommy's last walker weighed 10 or 15 lbs.; this one--25 lbs.  I am not sure how wide the last one was, but this one is 22 inches wide. He is ruining the corner of the wall. I put thick gorilla tape on the bottom where he was ramming the last walker. There was sheet rock all over the floor. He said he did not care. He manages to hit the corner higher with this walker. Plus, the tires are 10" and not 3". This time I will get one of those rubber/plastic corner protectors and figure out how to install that. He never runs into things in others' houses or in stores, but here he is not careful or caring at all. Of course, I will purchase that at the hardware store in Cullman.

His pants are getting too tight, so he needs new pants. I had to point it out before he even acknowledged it. Is this a guy thing? If my waist band were two inches too small, a person would not have to invite me to buy new pants. Of course, for the last 40 years, I have worn elastic waistbands for health sake only.

When I moved here, of course Tommy manned the remote. I had no desire for him to share it with me. Besides, it takes two remotes to work the TV. When he went to sleep, I would wake him to turn off the TV. One night about two weeks ago, he handed me the one remote and told me to keep it low, turn it lower so it would not wake me in the morning, and then turn it off.

In the meantime, he has 'allowed' me to use the other remote to change channels. I wrote how where different channels can be found. I think I know how to use both as well as he does, maybe. I suppose this is a breakthrough. We use a soft, zippered pencil bag to toss the couple back and forth. I leave the bag on his walker when I go to bed. It works for us.

I asked why two remotes. He said he never could get one programmed. I hate remotes I have to program. The next tv, we will each have one remote, not two different remotes. When he goes to the kitchen and we need to talk, if I mute the sound, we don't have to scream back and forth, not hearing each other anyway.

Does it seem all guys want to man the remote?

Do you know anyone who destroys corners, furniture, anything by hitting it with a walker or wheelchair?

Salvaging Pants/Retro Refrigerator Hangs on Wall

I found a pair of pants with a bleached place on it, so I had black pants that had places bleached to a rather pale peach/orange. I have no idea what was on them, but it was disgusting, so I took them to the laundry a week ago. Then, I rewashed them here at home and hung them to dry.

This pair is a good pair. I took a black marker and colored on the bleached places. The marker places appear darker than the surrounding undamaged area. However, the largest stain is about 9 inches below my waist on the back with smaller places in different places.

When I say "bleached," it was not laundry bleach.

Even if these pants are not wearable outside the house, I will not be wearing a better pair. That is a great win for me.

I use markers all the time to salvage clothes. Do you ever use a marker to salvage something? Other than mending, alternating, using scotch tape or a stapler, do you have a favorite method of salvaging clothing?

I could handle these refrigerators, but I wonder about shorter people.

This ARTICLE has refrigerator styles I have never seen or heard of.

Merry Christmas!

Image result for merry christmas

It is so cold here. However, the weather is dry. Freezing temps have nothing to freeze and cause accidents. That is good for all of us. Today has been a very gray day all day long. But, children can ride their new bikes since there is not rain, snow, or mud.

Exbf came, and we exchanged gifts, and ate a pared-down Christmas dinner: turkey, dressing, gravy, green been casserole, and carrots. Dessert: Whitman Chocolates, and a concoction of pineapple, mandarin oranges, cool whip and coconut that I will make while I eat chocolate.

Since I had trouble sleeping, I got little cooked, no potatoes. He will leftovers, probably enough for two meals of meat, at least. The leftovers for him will have at least three meals of carrots. It was delicious, if I say so myself.

I did keep some of all leftovers for me.

I gave him a pair of pants that he needs. The man wears rags...lol. Also, he got a Diet Pepsi and a little tub of Bubble Gum, afterthoughts that really made him happy, especially the Bubble Gum. He even got a little bank with it.

He gave me a Personal Digital Ceramic Heater. I was looking at one in WM on Sunday. He said he remembered me saying it was so cold in the kitchen that it hurt to go in there. TRUE!

Also, he brought me the very thing I was going to buy the next time I went out. So, he saved me money. I keep a day planner in my purse. The one for 2017 weighed too much. The one he gave me even has a flat pen in a little pouch on the back. That will be handy. He brought me a tote bag. Both these items were handed out at his church, so he brought me one. He said people were getting several for their family. So, no harm in getting two of each.  These weren't "gifts," just given to him at church on Sunday, and he thought of me.

He even wrapped the heater gift and put a ribbon and bow on it!

This Christmas, I have received three tote bags, all three with a church name. Is this a new trend, giving tote bags from church?

He has been gone about an hour, and I have found receipts for things I need to return to three stores. That will be money in my pocket.

Besides the leftovers, I sent him home with Russell Stover candy (his choice from two boxes), 4 Granny Smith apples, 4 Halos, gal of milk, another frozen pint of soup I forgot to give him, enough turkey for several meals or sandwiches, bread I mistakenly bought that had whole wheat, half pint of milk from Senior Christmas Party.

Today was a Happy Christmas. Today was a pleasant Christmas.

How was your Christmas? Was everyone well?
