Cold Dinner

As a matter of fact, Saturday night, I had two cold dinners. Each was equally delicious. First, we bought two boxes of Special K Original. After my nap, I had a bowlful with a whole banana sliced in it...delicious.

About 8:30, I had sliced chicken, cole slaw, and tomato. This one chicken breast is making me four meals.

Tommy ate much earlier, so not sure what he had other than chicken thigh that was flavored with the Boar's Head honey mustard that does not taste like honey mustard. He was agitated that I was going to use it on his thighs. Well, he calmed done once he squirted a bit on a finger and tasted it. He says the taste is okay on his food...lol.

I froze two of the thighs in pint freezer bag today with him admonishing me not to freeze too many. He can thaw the two thighs, one for each of two days or eat both at one meal.

I did get around to freezing most of the buns. The hamburger and hotdog buns had 16 buns each, 32 buns in all. We would take forever to eat that many buns unless we just ate them instead of bread. I froze the hamburger buns two to a package, hotdog buns were frozen three to a package.

We went to Publix during the tasting event from 11-2, but it was held at 3 pm due to not enough help. Not good. We bought strawberries, Vidalia onions. Potatoes were too expensive. We will either go to Pig or Food Giant on Sunday for those. I was too exhausted to do it on Sunday.

One package of the 1 lb strawberries was organic, one not. Both packages weighed 1.5 lbs. each. Yes, I weighed them. I wonder if they really do not have poison on them. I will see if they taste better than ones with pesticide.

I have five more pretty tomatoes. If Tommy gets the ribs out of the freezer, we will have ribs Monday along with potato salad, tomatoes, maybe baked beans. It is an easily prepared meal. If he does not get the ribs out, we will have leftovers and not worry about it.

It seems all we do is buy food, cook food, freeze cooked and raw food and give away food. There are days every effort revolves around food! Then, there are days we just get it out and eat.

The woman for whom we got food is no longer responding. So, we had three huge boxes, banana box size, full of food. About 20 lbs. was frozen meat. Lots of vegetables, pasta, bread, desserts. The first woman I asked had two preteen girls. She was happy to get it.

My neighbor could not find an electrician for two years. Then, she found one who did not complete the job and has not come back for two weeks. So, it is not me. Her son will be back from Florida vacation on Monday. So, the search continues.

Tonight, we watched Some Like it Hot, one of my favorite films. Then, The Defiant Ones was new to me and spectacular film with Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier. Now, The Boston Strangler. It has been a good night for films.

While I slept today, Tommy watched football. So, the awful season begins. I never complain or want to watch something else.

When I woke, Tommy asked me if the thunder disturbed me. I did not hear anything for the whole three hours even though he said one thunderclap sounded like it hit the house. Nothing, heard nothing even though he said it went on for an hour or more.

How do you feel about football season? Everyone has an opinion on football season!

Friday Heat and Holiday

My energy flags quickly these days. Friday, I washed my hair just two days after applying color. I am not sure why, but using the cream rinse included with the shampoo causes me to have greasy looking hair. Plus, if feels like it was sprayed. Now, my hair and looks and feels normal. I was embarrassed to be seen right after color, not the usual affect of color.

Thursday night, we did other cooking after midnight. Plus, I was energized, gathering laundry, putting away stuff scattered and just left to lie about. It was very productive.

Today, we went out and came back home. Tommy went into the house. As he came out, he had one of my real cokes, caffeine free. I asked if he brought it for me. No, he needed sugar since his dropping blood sugar was too low. He got into the car and tried to open a small piece of cheese. He never asks me to open things. His hands were trembling. He could not figure out how to get the cheese out of the package that had been cut open by me on three sides. I told him to drink the Coke. His monitor was not working, but he could see a plunging trajectory of his blood sugar.

He was about to drive. His blood sugar rose enough for him to be safe. He seemed to be driving okay. I am so stressed watching traffic, how he drives And, it was so hot today.

When we came home, I took a nap, and he peeled potatoes and carrots. I assembled the cooking bag. At 8:30, it was done so we could eat.

We have buns gotten cheaply, yet they are Sara Lee. I will freeze most of them. Having the freezer with enough room to freeze bread and buns saves money. I can eat a hamburger or hotdog on a piece of bread. But, the bun is so much nicer.

Tommy put a note on our neighbor's door. Her son said he would hang a light. He is an electrician with some company. We intended to pay him. This has been over 4 years ago. So, she called back and left a voicemail. She said an electrician came 3.5 years ago, started a job at her house and never came back. She said she understood. Maybe the work will get done yet!

Cleaner called and said she has been ill. Yet, she did not miss work. Okay, so maybe she did not feel like doing more. Next Tuesday, she will let us know something.

The woman to whom I gave food will not reply. So, will never depend on her doing anything, like calling me. Or picking up food I collect just for her.

Thursday night, I ordered another outfit like I bought five years ago. I can wear this one with abandon and not have to save it for good...lol. When I took the one I own out of storage this spring, it was squashed and in with other items. I shook it out and wore it without one wrinkle. I also ordered garbage bags for the kitchen. They are hard to handle because they are so heavy, one less thing that will not hurt Tommy.

We need potatoes, eggs, and strawberries. Tomorrow, we will go to Publix during their sampling events. Yum! We may have pork ribs Monday. We will be staying home, not cooking much.

There are things to do outdoors, like clean off the porch. But, it is so hot, I just don't care. Tommy would have to be with me, so he does not need the heat stress, either. I only slept four hours Thursday night because of the heat. The ac was set on 67. Tommy was bundled up in front of the ac vent by his chair, so it was cool in the living room. Well, not too cool except in front of the ac vent.

What are your plans for this weekend? Food, fun, family?

Ecstatic!

I received a call about the ultrasound results. I was giddy. Can I come in and get a piece of 'machinery' to put on my legs? Of course, I can. She said that in the meantime, I should wear compression stockings, at least to the knee.

As we hung up, I said, "Oh, I am so happy!" She laughed sort of low.

I related my problem. One place that sells this type of product as well as scooters and wheel chairs said they would not sell me the stockings until they knew what size to sell me. So, I was wary. I looked in other stores and absolutely did not know what to buy. They implied the stockings could do harm. This woman over the phone gave me the compression number and told me how to measure. Why have the half dozen medical professionals not told me this?

My right leg is the one with the vein problem. Yet, the left leg is swollen the most, so much that it is hard to bend my knee. I am very hopeful that this will solve part of my problem. Now, I need a spine doctor as that may be most of the problem with left leg.

I was worrying about a friend and looked her up on obituary site. She was not there, so I entered another name, one I have entered often. Yes, she did die this April. I will miss her. The woman that I cannot find the name is about 65 with CP. Her husband said she should not be alive. I don't know.

The search for a new endocrinologist is on. I received Stop the Thyroid Madness and Hashimoto's: Taming the Beast. I started reading since they are light. But, I was horrified the print was too small. I suppose I will get a page size-magnifying glass. At least the book is light to hold.

Tommy put chicken on without me in kitchen. I told him to put the thighs in the crockpot with 1/2 cup water. Then, I put the Boar's Head Honey Mustard on top of each thigh. He objected to honey mustard. I had to talk him down...lol. I assured him it did not taste like honey mustard to me, the reason I bought the Chic-fil-A homey mustard. He brought me what I asked and said it did not smell like honey mustard.

We were debating what to eat. There is still ham to eat, so he can work on that instead of waiting for these thighs. Tomorrow night, we will bake bscb and vegetables. He asked me if I am going to buy slaw. That means he wants it, so I am.

About The Pig and bscb. I looked it up three times today, and YES, there is an ad for bscb for $1.99 at my Pig. I did it three times and on two different sites to make sure I was not making the same mistake three times. So, big mistake in printing. But, you know stores don't honor mistakes. So, I made no mistake and am not crazy.

I think I have shingles again. This cannot be happening.

All this happiness is wearing me out.

I took a nap and feel better. I made tuna salad for my dinner and ate it with tomato and slaw. I have no idea what Tommy ate since I was asleep. The chicken in the crock pot should be done soon so I can put it in the refrigerator for Tommy and some in the freezer tomorrow.

A horrific thunderstorm came through town today, but we did not get a drop of rain. Tommy did not water the plants counting on Mother Nature to do the job.

Have you ever been so happy to get help from a doctor that you were all giggly?

Have you ever had an online ad be completely wrong?

No BSCB!

Wednesday, I had an appointment for an ultrasound, and those women hurt me! Before we left, I had to color my hair. I took a lunch sandwich with me for breakfast, and off we went.

I have never had an ultrasound cause me pain, but this one did. It was for the veins in my legs. One squeezed while another ran the wand. Another part of the pain was position, the way I had to lie. It was 30 minutes of agony. The two young women were very nice. As a matter of fact, every person with whom I interacted was very pleasant.

The only unpleasant person was an obnoxious man in a MAGA shirt making fun of an elderly woman who was giving them "what for." She had been put into a room before her 12:30 appointment. It was after 1:30 so she came out and said she was going home, "And, I want my $35 copay, too!" Then, for some reason that she explained, she said she wanted her $70. The whole time, he laughed and mocked her relentlessly, looking all around for an audience. It took everything in me not to fuss at him.

When we left, I told Tommy I wanted to go to Jared's Jewelers, get something to eat. and go to a used car lot. I kept changing my mind about what to do because it was late. Finally, we just ate at Chic-fil-A. So, this was part of my birthday plans. By this time, we had hit the early part of the rush hour and both of us only wanted to go home.

While Tommy was ordering, I asked if they had the bottles of Chic-fil-A sauces. Honey Mustard? So, for $3 I now have an 8-ounce container. There is a collection of other honey mustards that are not what I want. I will use those to put over chicken for oven cooking. They will not be wasted. I did not even eat the little packet they gave me for my sandwich, so this will last a long time.

I was excited to go to The Pig and get cheap bscb. Surprise, surprise, I got none! Obviously, I was looking at Pig in another state! I was so disgusted. I did buy a 24-pack of water for the under-the-bridge people.

Publix has Chef Boyardee Ravioli on sale $1 can. I bought ten for the same people. I have ten small applesauce cups. I will probably get ten packs of pb crackers. This will all go into a Christmas Ziploc storage bag. I need to gather up ten forks and ten spoons.

When we were still driving, Tommy's elbow was hurting so. I felt bad because he said lifting things so much hurt him for a long time. So, I need to keep him from hurting and his osteoarthritis from immobilizing his arms, shoulders and ankles, all places he says hurts. I also need to pay someone to help with bringing in heavy packs of drinks. Of course, he will pay, not me.

I remarked that I was going to get him an appointment with a doctor to see what he can do to slow the progression and stop the pain. Usually, he explodes at me. Today, he said okay. Progress comes hard around here.

While I do have bscb right now, thawed to cook, I was planning to get about ten packages. This is the second time that I looked at the wrong city! I clicked on the right city twice after typing it.

Have you ever checked the wrong ad?

Do you ever deal with a man who is determined not to take care of his health?

Late Monday and Tuesday and Electrical Problem

About 4 pm on Monday, we got busy with food. Tommy cooked ground sausage, put it into a glass container and refrigerated it within 30 minutes, maybe sooner. I chopped the last Vidalia onion, put a snack bag in refrigerator to use, two snack bags in a freezer bag for the freezer. Tommy washed two Bell Peppers, and I cut in strips, one snack bag for him in refrigerator and a pint bag for freezer.  I cooked the last two burgers for dinner. We both had salad or slaw. I had a lot of tomato. After dinner, I hung up clothes to dry in the house. He hung them in the door.  Whew! I meant to cook a big package of boneless, skinless, chicken thighs with vegetables. Still not done on Tuesday.

One Tuesday, we forgot the Farmer's Market. It is on a list now. Otherwise, we will let the day slip away. It is open from 4-7 pm and only on Tuesday, easy to forget at the end of the day. We need tomatoes. We went too late today.

Tommy and I forgot the two returns we needed to make. Actually, it is more than just 'forgetting.'

I gathered some things from here to give to woman I helped. She had never heard of Cooking Bags. Now, she has a box ready in a bag with 2 bags of Christmas print freezer bags--one pint, one quart.

Since my cleaner is really busy, I may ask this woman to clean. I know she won't want to take money, but that is the only way we can do it.

Someone asked why I thought cleaner flaked out. She has one really hard job, another part-time job, church activities, and may have had another surgery, but for sure one scheduled in September. I will ask mower, her friend, what the problem is. If she is not going to come back other than once a month, I need someone else.

Tuesday, and we did little. We went too late to the market because I was taking a nap and Tommy forgot, too. That's okay because Wednesday will be a hard day.

I did go over Piggly Wiggly ad on internet and found bscb for $1.99. Other deals are already on a list. I cannot find Publix ad on internet, rather, on email where I usually click.

The car dealer who had two cars we wanted keeps calling, different person each time. I actually had excuses why I could not talk the first two times. I left my cell with Tommy to take calls. Well, he just yelled at the person to leave us alone, that we were not interested. I wonder if that will deter them.

Examining as well as I could, the fixture was installed over the sink incorrectly. I can see wires joined outside of a box by twisting wires together with nothing covering them--no electrical tape or the little plastic covers for wires. That will give me nightmares. When I moved here, I asked son of woman who lives next door for recommendation for electrical. He said he could put up the dining room fixture. Tonight, I had Tommy tape a note in plastic bag to railing for steps, asking her to ask him for name of electrician who would actually show up. So, maybe this will be done soon.

The plan was to put color on my hair today. Maybe. Maybe not.

Do you think it is harder to get an electrician now than it was a few years ago? Why do you think so?

Under-The-Bridge People

When it is raining, I refuse to leave the house. When it is sunny, Tommy drags his feet to do some things! We need a car! There are things/projects he has fought me on this last few years, but now he is all onboard. He wants a new bathroom other than this tub. He agrees we both need new cars. He agrees the three-foot mound of fire ants need to be treated. He agrees we need a new light above the sink. Yet, nothing happens unless I plan, do calling and supervise. He has the cc for things.

So, I have one new reason not to sleep--ruminating, fretting in my head and aloud. He never wants to drive in the rain, so that is one worry I do not have--him wanting to take a drive in the rain.

Every day, I try to work around Jeopardy. Some days, I just say, "Let's go."  So far, he has not said a word about waiting. One day, I was fretting about wasting the afternoon. He told me to just tell him, "Let's go." So, I do.

I finally got with the mower about proper weed killer for St. Augustine Grass. So, I can get that for him to spray. Tommy has Dallas grass in the yard, so two days later is a foot or more tall. Dallas grass is the weed that grows one stem with three little sprouts from the top that have seeds that get all over you when you walk. My old remedy/poison worked in my yard with St. Augustine Grass. It killed the wild onions, too. I see that spelled two ways--Dallisgrass and Dallas Grass.

Another worry--cleaner has sort of flaked out on me. She does have a full-time job and a part-time job. But, she was willing and has not demonstrated she is wanting not to come. I work around her jobs and church activities.

Two weeks ago, we were driving in North Birmingham. Well, Tommy pointed out N Bham was two blocks away. Too close for me. We went under a bridge of some sort. I was shocked. There were people living under there. There were sheets or blankets hanging where people were way up under the bridge, living behind these barriers blowing in the wind. on the pavement was a stroller. I assumed someone was using for transporting items. I hoped there was not a baby in this little encampment.

Across the street was a table set up and several people and folding chairs. I am not sure if this was outreach or people from under the bridge. I felt compelled to do something, but what? We did not even have a bottle of water except for the two we were drinking.

There were a few other people, but it was happening so quickly that my head reeled. I know there are homeless people and have seen them. I went to the Foods not Bombs food that my friend set up near five points. But, I had never seen people under a bridge in person.

So, we are trying to figure out what to do, what would be useful and not a duplication of other efforts. I am thinking new bags of socks, underwear. But, then what size, male or female. Are there children involved? What food? Water? I suspect these are hardcore homeless who reject housing offered.

We saw homeless people in Birmingham Public Library. But, these people could pass for students. They were clean, shaven, and did not appear to have mental problems, just down on their luck. I know homeless are like the rest of us with many stories and needs. I met a homeless woman in Cullman who carried everything she owned in a tote bag. I met her in a doctor's office. I believe she only wanted to be friends for a ride. That is important, but she was rude to me, yelled at me and was demanding. Her sister was in a position to help with everything like that because she had a position with an organization that helps homeless people. She was banned from thrift store because she was selling herself in the bathroom. okaaay As it turned out, she was mentally ill.

If money were not an issue, we would load up the Rogue with a thousand dollars' worth of help. I don't want to just give washcloths and toothbrushes. Or just socks and underwear. Maybe neither. We just want it to be effective.

Your thoughts?

Have you worked with the homeless?

One More Post--Dark Spots

Today, Tommy found something I have looked for this past few weeks. I said I had bought dark spot remover. But, only the name, Palmer's, was what I remembered.

Here it is: Palmer's Skin Success, with Vitamin E, Anti Dark Spot, Fade Cream for all skin types. To make this last, just dab a finger on the surface of the product. My finger is barely white. I just put it on the one dark spot on right hand.

Amazon.com : Palmer's Skin Success Anti-Dark Spot Fade Cream with Vitamin E and Niacinamide, Helps Reduce Dark Spots and Age Spots, Suitable for All Skin Types 2.7 Ounce : Facial Spot Treatments : Beauty & Personal Careht hand.

The left hand has very pale brown spots, not enough to worry with using the cream.

I am too tired to type and think, so this is it.

Biscuits

As I watched a woman making biscuits, I was reminded of my mother. She made wonderful biscuits. She taught me, but I did not think I was very good at biscuit making. The woman in the video was making drop biscuits.  She petted them more than I did. I just dropped the dough onto the pan.

Mama said Daddy did not like her tall biscuits. He wanted thin biscuits like his mother made, less than 1/2 tall. I thought about that. His mother had twelve children. I can imagine making biscuits for that many hungry children was a challenge. Other than needing lots of biscuits, I have a theory about why she made them thin.

Children do not know the theory of conservation. One large cookie may not equate 4 small cookies even if there is more mass in the larger cookie than the smaller cookies. Children go for the numbers, not the actual amount to eat. Then they eventually learn 'conservation.'

So, his mother made many small/short biscuits to keep children happy. That one, tall, beautiful biscuit could be four or five equally small biscuits. Many biscuits made children happy. Well, that is my theory of why she made such short biscuits.

I made small cookies for small hands. But, the number of cookies I gave my children made them very happy. One large cookie made them sad. Remember those days?

I have not made biscuits that were rolled and cut in years and years. I rarely made drop biscuits. What I have made was with a big spoon of dough, rolled in flour and shaped by hand. What I had rather make is whack biscuits. Making biscuits was not fun! Since these are hand formed and not rolled and cut, I could do that on a tray in my lap.

Stores sell big plastic bags of frozen biscuits loose in the bag. Every time that I have decided to buy them, I am not going right home, so they would thaw.

I liked biscuits with lots of butter, scrambled eggs inside. Of course, I liked them with just butter, with homemade jam or jelly, honey or sugar/cinnamon sprinkled on the butter. Mostly, we ate biscuits with butter. Biscuits with gravy was always good.

Bisquik biscuits are okay but not like my mother made.

Tommy said his grandmother made 'cat head' biscuits. His paternal grandmother made them for Sunday dinner when the family was there. Once, when his maternal grandmother from Kentucky was visiting, she did not know what 'cat head' biscuits were.

As the name suggests 'cat head' biscuits were as large as a cat's head and originated in the South.

Now, I am in the mood to make biscuits but not on my lap. The rolling pin my mother gave me, one of hers, was lost with my house. I know how to substitute something else. I also know how to pat the dough to right thickness. I would rather pat than roll!

Friday Decluttering Plan

Earlier this week, I gave up trying to figure out what happened to my friend. Finally, I thought to call her church. She died last year. She was a year younger than I.

It is a sad story since her husband died young, leaving her with four very small children. When she became ill and bought a house trailer or mobile home. One child moved home with kids and then brought bf. She said they trashed her house, brought animals in and she could never find her medical supplies she needed, some was insulin and some bandages for her legs. She complained she could not get through the house in her wheelchair!

She had had a store for years. Somehow, she converted one room as a bedroom with bathroom and microwave and lived there. The kid moved the mobile home out back. She had an infected foot, diabetes and in wheelchair, friend moved a cat in her room. I tried to help her one day and she was soaked in urine. She actually needed to be in a facility so her room and wounds could be kept clean and she would have proper care.

One day this week, we found a woman who needed help. She cried and so did I. Today, we took her two huge boxes of food. She is a very nice woman, working two jobs and needing help. She was ecstatic, going through the two large boxes, oohing and aahing at some of the items. We forgot a bag of food from our pantry that was left in the house. Her children are adults, so we won't move our coat donations to her.

I gave her the idea to go ahead and cook too much and freeze it for later meals. She had never thought of that. Tommy told her about cooking bags which she did not know. She was relating how she had not had milk in years because of violent reaction and pain in her intestines; I told her about a2milk, the exorbitant price, and how it helped me. I like to spread the gospel of a2milk.

We finally took a package to UPS to return it. When we pulled up. a woman came out and energetically swept. So, I rolled down the window and asked an obvious question...do you work here? I asked her if she would take a package in for us because of hurting to walk. She was so agreeable and pleasant. I do try to get help for him so we can keep functioning without causing him pain.

Today, despite our pain and lack of mobility, it has been positive and optimistic. The new antibiotic has quit hurting my stomach, thankfully. The skies have been a clear blue, with a few fluffy clouds blown along by a brisk wind that has not reached to the ground.

The needle I stepped on last night has not caused any obvious problem. I will go to podiatrist Monday. Going from the kitchen to living room, a person has to swerve to the left and back to the right going across the hall. I made a too big swerve to the right with something in left hand and a spoon clutched in my right hand. As I sort of mis-stepped I ran into the door with body and right hand and spoon taking the brunt of the bump. My hand hurts across the back. It is swollen in two places. Yes, I can type through pain.  I never carry a knife. Tommy drives a knife in to me on his walker.

But, I did not fall!!!

Dinner: hamburger, slaw, tomato, green beans, I will eat tomatoes every day until the local Farmer's Market no longer has them. And, I will use my curly knife.

I did not take a nap today. I have tried to work my eating and meds so I don't get tired from high blood sugar. I did manage to make two phone calls, even with all the going we did.

Project for this week--I need to declutter the plants on porch and ramp. We put every plant in the dark utility room. All made it, few bloomed again. Then, I bought a few more plants, some of which are not doing well. I am tired of watering and fertilizing plants that are going nowhere. Some were wildflowers from seed balls. They don't want to come back. This week, some of the pots of dirt and dead plants will go. They are the ones Tommy quit watering because they 'died.' I won't miss them! Everything will be less cluttered and dead looking.

Have you ever 'decluttered' your potted flowers? Or, do they all survive?

Have you known children who took advantage of ill, elderly parents and cause an early death?

Do people who need help you can provide ever just show up in front of you?

Busy Thursday

Today was a hard day for me. Staying out for five hours destroys me.  When we finally got home and settled, I took a nap. I turn on music, get into bed and on left side, put something over my eyes, arrange my hands so they don't hurt, and usually go to sleep, aware I am drowsy. Today, I don't remember covering my eyes. I was that sleepy. My hands must have arranged themselves.

Tommy took with us a frozen bottle of water, and I took the bottle carrier. We gave it to the woman. She was loaded down with purse, larger bottle holder, then the one we gave her. But, she was deliriously happy with frozen water and the carrier.

We got the food and wanted little of what was there, so went to a store and gave it to a young woman who teared up and said this came at the right time as she was struggling. I teared up, too. I think we may buy for her for Christmas instead of donating coats.

I went to Publix and shopped the bogo things. I bought zinc since Tewshooz said she needed it for thyroid problems.

The mower came, mowed, and put in the dusk to dawn bulb. Since I wanted to talk with him, I had told Tommy to call me if/when he came. He did not have time to do what I wanted, so I was up for nothing. He did take pictures of my car to sell it.

Lunch: Tommy has lived here for forty years and has eaten at a hotdog place about a half mile from here on a main road. For almost five years, I have mentioned eating there. Today, with my pushing, we did. These were long, skinny hotdogs. I had mine plain and brought it home and put my mustard on it. Tommy had everything on his. We split an order of fries with him getting the lion's share. The cost was less that $9. I was shocked it cost so little. So, now I have been there. He eats better now that I am here, so need to get another hotdog from there.

I called a2milk company and asked why the price leap. The woman looked it up and they still sell the milk for the same price to distributor.

Today, I started planning my birthday week. So far, I have Chicken Salad Chick, KFC, and Bright Star. Maybe Jim n Nicks.

Dinner: Tommy had a huge salad with hamburger meat, cheese, tomato, catsup, and mustard on top. I had the same size salad with olive oil, tomato, and Parmesan/Romano cheese.

I picked up the medicine insert and read that this antibiotic suppresses appetite. I was so surprised. Now, I know why I have no appetite, never hungry.

One doctor sent the answer to a question I left on message machine. The endocrinologist nurse has not returned my call from Tuesday!

Tonight, I went into back bedroom to get things out for shelf in kitchen, tuna, especially. I stepped on something sharp. It was a sewing needle! I have not had a needle in there. The room has been vacuumed several times. Plus, it is not the kind of needle I use. I am afraid of the puncture wound. As excruciating as the pain was, I cannot remember which foot it punctured. I won't go barefoot in there again.

The weather has been so mild that I don't feel suffocated when I get into the car. But, as it does, the weather will heat up to almost suffocating temps and humidity before long.

Thursday was a day of little things, nothing earthshaking, all positive, but it exhausted me. I will edit nothing.

Do you ever have a day of little things that seems overwhelming and exhausting?

Car Shopping and Best News

 Sort of...

After the fiasco of a doctor visit, I wanted to redeem the day with something positive toward our goals. Well, car dealer had other thoughts.

We went to Bessemer to car lots, passing four lots on the way to his target. Well, there was only one car there, obviously the person who was going to lock the door on the way out.

So, we went back to the other lots. One only had one SUV; one had the entrance blocked; another had only trucks, it appeared; one had so little room we feared we could not get out.

Then, we went to place that had the Buick. This is third time there. The first time, we told the guy D I was too tired to get out and we would return. We did but could not get out to vehicles because there was a car blocking the circle of vehicles. Someone moved that obstacle and we drove the Buick around the lot. I was having trouble walking and it was sooo hot. I told the guy R that I had to go. After the other lots above, I wanted to go back to this lot.

The guy R came to the car. I asked about getting in to see the cars. The guy fiddled with a tiny piece of paper and asked if we came about the Buick. (Oh, I did ask why they kept the circle of cars blocked. He said, "Because we don't want people driving into there and bumping cars.) I said, "No." He said, "Which one do you want to see." I said, "I don't know." He just stood there, did not look at me, and continued fiddling with the piece of paper that was smaller than a gum wrapper. I continued to look at him, wondering if he was going to say anything. Then, somehow, my window slowly went up. He turned on his heels at that point and left.

STRANGE!

We came home.

Somehow, I slept wrong Monday night, and my neck was stiff the next morning. Tuesday night it was not better. This morning, Wednesday, it seems to have gone into my shoulder blade/back. The TV is to the left of me, so it is hard to watch TV without sort of turning my body. I take a baby aspirin every night, so I may take 2 or 3 tonight. We don't have regular aspirin in the house. Neither of us take anything for pain. We just hurt...lol.

We forgot to get the ads today, but I was napping part of the day. We will do that as soon as I round up Tommy...lol.

Best news of all. I am rarely hungry! And, I have lost more weight. I hear about elderly people not wanting much to eat. Am I there? Amithere? Hurray!

Early evening, I mentioned to Tommy he needed to cook the package of pork for the taco soup. OH SHOOT!!! What? He said he forgot to take it out of the freezer. I told him we could just boil it to thaw it. I think he was relieved I was not irritated. Yes, I do get irritated when he does not get out a chunk of frozen chicken breasts that I have reminded him about for three days.

Taco Soup--ground pork, Five Cheese Italian Shredded Cheese, Taco Seasoning, two cans black beans-drain, one can whole kernel corn, two cans tomato bits or chunks, 1/2 cup Uncle Ben's Parboiled Rice. Put as much or as little as you like of any of this to your taste. I am not as thrilled with the corn as everything else, so I put less. This is actually double the recipe. Okay, I do not double the rice.

I will freeze enough for two generous helpings. The night we opened a package when we were starving and exhausted, was a happy occasion for us. It will happen again. This was a great meal for that occasion. I will have a salad, also, tonight. Okay, I finally am hungry! Very hungry.

Stevie Wonder is playing and singing at DNC.

Doctor's office has not called me back. I gave her all day so I could not be blamed for rushing her or nurse.

About 6pm I realized we had not gotten ads. We got them and there are sales/bogo to buy. YAY!

I forgot to call about the dog today and yesterday. But, both days we have tried to call the dog and nothing. So, maybe someone rescued it.

The weather has been surprisingly mild here, especially during mornings and evenings. Of course, and thankfully, the heat is coming back. We still are under a drought. That is hard to believe when we see people drowning, roads flooding, and houses with water in them in other areas of the country.

Tomorrow, the plan is to go across town to Home Depot for a door and to used car lots.

What are your plans for Thursday?

New Doctor and a Gift

Remember, Tommy went to her first for diabetes. My appointment was set for later even though I got both of them for us. She did not like me telling her about Tommy's low blood sugar episodes when he had no idea what he was doing. He could not tell her anything.

Today, she looked at me, then Tommy, when she came in. She held up her hand to me and said she wanted to see how Tommy was doing. So, he got a portion of my time. I don't care, but I doubt she would give me any of his appointment. She told the nurse to put his monitor on him last time. Today, she handed me mine and told me to put it on at home.

She told me the pain I felt when she squeezed my knee and throat was 'just fibromyalgia" that I have. No respect for pain? That is not the point of the fibromyalgia diagnosis!

Tommy said it was harsh when she told me was going to get me a telehealth appointment because it 'was too much trouble coming down to get me and push me around the office.' I was crushed.

She said my tongue was not swollen when I bite it all the time lately and cannot pronounce words correctly. She said swollen tongue was not part of Hashimoto's.  She said the Hashimoto's was nothing. It is getting a lump on one side from my biting it! Sometimes, I awake and have to push my tongue into my mouth before I can close my mouth.

She told me to take Ozempic. I said "no," and she told me I needed to lose weight. This is just after I had told her I had lost five pounds. There was no "GREAT:" She did not ask how I did it or encourage my own initiative. Then, she gave me Mounjaro and said, like she was my mother, and I was five, "I want you to take this." I won't but did not tell her so. She knew!

She told me she wanted blood. I said everyone, most everyone, could not get blood from me and raked the needle around. She said flatly to me, "You have to cooperate." When she left I gave my veins a talking to. No, the nurse could not get blood! This lack of blood has been going on for over fifty years, and is no fault of my own!

I will never go back and neither will Tommy. I told her some nurses rake the needle around and just bruise me, so I hoped the person did not do this. She gave me a flat look and said, "You need to cooperate." After she was gone, I gave my veins a talk and told them to cooperate, Tommy said that was harsh for her to say that.  He said he was surprised to hear a doctor say that. I will not go back and neither will Tommy. He agrees.

I did ask the nurse to put on the monitor. Less than 20 minutes later, the receiver said the monitor needed to be replaced. We were well away from the doctor's office. Well, I don't have another one, contacted the nurse and have not heard a thing.

She demanded to know how much Victoza I took. My answer--second mark. She knew the numbers but kept trying to make me say what she wanted to hear. Witch

I did not mean to make the above bold or so large. But, it works. I wonder how I do that unknowingly. I know how to do it on purpose. I will leave it.

The people in this office are gems, except for the doctor. She may weigh 100 pounds, and probably sees weight gain as a moral failing.

We forgot to return the UPS package again.

We went to Farmer's market and got tomatoes. At Publix, I got grapes cheap, Planter's Peanuts bogo, bag of salad greens, and something else.

The car lot is a separate story--tomorrow.

I felt attacked the whole time with the doctor! I asked Tommy if I did anything to receive this treatment. He said, "NO." He would tell me.

If you want to blame the interaction on me, your comment will not be published. Tommy will moderate. I am too wounded and bruised to see it.

Mower has offered to sell my car. It will stay at my house, and he will bring people here. He said he just wants to help and wants nothing. Great. But, he will get something from me. Best news today.

Dinner was ham, tomato (lots), and grapes. Tommy had more ham, salad.

When we picked up food for the five girls, a woman was talking to us. She was a volunteer. She was hot about the weather and her treatment. The police would not keep order, letting people break in line. They messed up the order by telling people in cars the wrong way to go. She was furious because the volunteers sitting in the shade had drunk all the water for volunteers.

She was on a rant. She said--I don't come out here because God told me to come. I am here because these people need food. I am trying to help. Tommy had heard this and put a bottle of water in the freezer but left it at home. She carries a clipboard and pen, so I thought she needed a water bottle holder. I bought two for $8 or something close. The dark pink is for me.

It has an outside pocket for a phone or whatever. I will get some sort of crackers or candy bar to put in it along with the frozen bottle of water. She asked for it to be frozen. She doesn't know I am bringing the holder.

Have you ever had a doctor be so unfeeling, rude, annoying as this one was today? Now, I just need to get my veins to cooperate. I lay in the hospital in 1968 with 106F temperature. The nurses did not follow the doctor's orders and put an IV into my arm. He came in cursing and throwing things and put the IV in my arm himself. He was also a friend and church member and there is no fault I place with him. Don't go there. He was just so upset. And, they could not get an IV in my arm as I lay there for two hours, cooperating completely. More than 50 years this has been going on with my veins.

I am tired and more than that--drained.

My Curly Knife

I was trying to tell Tommy which knife I wanted after he brought me a short paring knife after I asked him for the long, serrated knife. He knows what serrated means. But, brought me a short one. He knew I wanted a knife to slice a tomato. But, he did not know what a tomato knife was. This was the evening I was running 100.9 temp.

Finally, out of frustration and lack of ability to think, I blurted out--"my curly knife". Well, he understood what I wanted. I laughed at both of us, that we could even call a knife 'curly.'

This is the best knife I have ever had for slicing a tomato. I did buy these from a church who sells them for a fund-raiser twice year. I will order them from the Rada company from now own. The woman jerking me around about my car is the one who sells them.

By the way, we have continued to call this the "curly knife." The thought still amuses me. I try to picture how to use a curly knife.  I suppose this will be a family joke and tradition.

Back in the early 80s, I was at a house at a dinner and someone was fretting over not being able to slice tomatoes. I suggested the guy use a steak knife. The people standing around just about laughed me out of the kitchen. Finally, someone got a steak knife and easily sliced the tomatoes. I was vindicated and praised for being clever. Silly people. I had been using a steak knife for tomatoes for years.

Monday, I got lots done--5 phone calls, made two doctor appointments, bought my milk and ice cream at Public along with Nabisco Original Graham Crackers; filled car with gas, looked at a car, sent Tommy into PO to send off a UPS package--FAIL.

My a2milk has risen to $5.39/half gallon!!! Unbelievable!

We drove a car--2017 Buick Enclave. Then, I was hot and tired so refused to do more. Daddy never drove anything but a Buick until I was in my 30s. This car car is older than I want. But, we will see.

I lost five pounds, then decided to not take a pill for diabetes and feet are not so swollen.

Right now, I will nap through the DNC. As much as I want to see it, I cannot stay away from a nap.

Okay, just now, I saw a shocking sight. Tommy has gotten out the Oxyclean to spray on his pants legs where he walks on them and makes them nasty. H would never let me hem his pants. Maybe now he will. Will miracles never cease?

Does anyone have an opinion on an Enclave?

Have regular milk prices risen?

Have you ever used a Rada knife?

Fly Spots and Awful Text Sent to Me

Tommy says he has never seen a fly spot. Have you? I was disgusted to find out what they are. This is one more reason to wipe the counters even when they don't look dirty. By the way, I call then fly specks. The article called them spots.

Why Do Flies Fly Around Switched Off Light? | Amazing Animals (youtube.com)

The man who collects food for five little girls will never get another call or food. He sent me a text: " I want b**bies and back rubs." It really unnerved me. Tommy said he was p*ssed.

What are your thoughts on this guy?

Birds Gone and More About Dark Spot Reduction

The birds are gone. I had not peeked at them for about weeks. I either forgot, felt too5 bad to go to that end of porch, or did not want to walk in wet grass. On Thursday, Tommy said he heard lots of birds in the planter. Finally, on Friday I decided to look. There was not a sign of a bird. The nest was empty. It was not disturbed. I guess they flew away. Now, I am sad there are no little furry peepers.

Tommy tells me he sees hummingbirds on the flowers even though I put out no hummingbird feeders.

I still feel awful from the first med or the second is having the same effect. I had things to do today. Nothing was done. We only left the house to get bananas. Tommy just told me he got up at 9 am to wake me since I said I wanted to go out. Then, when I indicated I did not, he came in and slept in his chair. He finally awoke after 2:30. He is feeling 'yucky' and does not feel like he can do anything. Hopefully, both of us will start feeling better.

Happily, the work week will be dry next week. There are things to do!--doctor lunch, car shopping, car selling

At the store, besides bananas, he got more Cheerio bogo. Life bogo, Quaker's Old-Fashioned Oats bogo, and Fritos, Betty Crocker Brownie Mix bogo.

Rain was somewhere close by our neighborhood. Flies were sticking. And, it takes Tommy so long to get inside that he lets flies inside. I do not blame him for how long it takes. Then, he cannot shoo them back out because he has both hands on the walker. No blame there either. However, then he chopped met and cooked it. Good! Then, two hours later the meat was sitting to 'cool' with flies landing on everything around me. He and meat were in the kitchen with flies. I was furious, but he said it had to cool.

I was going to make spaghetti, but not with that meat. It is his. He is putting out another package for spaghetti. It seems he has no concept of sanitary!

I wanted tuna salad anyway, so I made and ate that while he was cooking meat. I will eat chicken breast, and he can eat the fly infested ground beef. He is okay with that.

This new bed has developed a hole in the center that interferes with sleep! It has to go. It also made my knee hurt last night after weeks of not hurting.

This popped up after I wrote about dark spots. The Safest and Most Effective Ways to Get Rid of Dark Spots (msn.com) Lots of these treatments I have never heard of. There is information for darker skin.

Do you think it is necessary to leave meat out two hours to let it cool?

Exhaustion

This has been a hard week, and I gave up. This will not be edited. I was taking an antibiotic that absolutely almost destroyed me. My bones, skin, muscles, and joints hurt and felt tight. I was stammering and feeling wobbly all over the house. Finally, on Friday night, I took no more. The doctor gave me something else, another antibiotic for the uti.

On top of this, I had to deal with woman who wants/wanted to buy my car. They insist that I give them full control of my car to take it 60 miles here to their mechanic. The car is almost perfect. Yet they want to take it from me, find something wrong or make something wrong and then try to get me to lower my price.

These exalted Christians are abusive and make a deal with me and back out. I was feeling ill from the antibiotic. We got on the interstate and she took both hands off the wheel twice going 70 mph. Her father reached over into the front seat was touching the steering, "trying to adjust it for her." He took out something in a bottle, not water, and looked me in the eye, defiantly, and tried to drink with me yelling not to do so. He said meekly, lying that it was not water. Either lying or bringing water in a bottle for juice to set me off. I had said only water, nothing else consumed in car. He likes to push the boundaries. I have met him before. His wife was the friend who died of cancer last Nov. or Dec.

She saw the car in my yard and asked me about buying it. I have not advertised anywhere. So, I was not out pushing the car for sale.

While on the interstate, she was pushing all the buttons on the dashboard to test things. She even set the alarm. I was terrified. Yes, I did yell at her. Then, I told her that if she took both hands off the wheel again, she would put it on the shoulder, and I would drive.  I was exhausted when I got home. The father in the back seat now, told her that the steering wheel was as tight as a new car.

They said they would have to let her husband check to oil. ???They demanded to know the last time the oil was changed. The car is 16 years old, brand new tires. You would think this was new car. They will try to get me to come down on price, no matter what is right or wrong. Men who know cars say it is fine shape and worth $6000. Maybe I should add another $500 to make people think they are getting a deal and getting one over on me.

Between a new antibiotic and getting rid of them, I will get better.

This will be my ad:

2008 Impala LT, silver

52,303 miles

Low-mileage Michelin tires

Moon Roof

Clean interior, one small scratch side

Handles well, smooth ride, tight steering, no oil leaks, new battery

$6500 FIRM, Cashier's check

Now, to put this on Facebook Marketplace.

Okay, exhausted, almost midnight, cannot sleep. That woman frazzled my nerves.

Take a Quiz to Reveal Your Dog Soul

This quiz was fun, especially when Tommy should get a Golden Retriever. Mine was a disappointing Corgi. I wanted mine to be a Border Collie or a Golden Retriever.

Answer These Questions And We’ll Tell You What Dog Breed To Adopt - Daily Funny

After you take the quiz, what dog was chosen for you?

Are you happy with that choice?

Dinner on Thursday--chicken cooked in crockpot, slaw with diced tomatoes in it, 1/2 cob of corn on cob. Actually, I always cut my corn off cob on my plate. The tomato dices I ate were almost a cup full. It was a huge tomato, and I only ate about half. Wonderful tomato. I am having strawberries I froze last week.

Food Shopping

I was the best of trips. It was the worst of trips. Publix, I mean. Special K was not bogo as someone told me. She must  be in a different area. Miracle Whip was bogo. He got two jars.

His Cheeerios bogo, got two. Coleslaw mix bogo $3 each. Two chicken tenders for $4.46. I would rather have chicken breast than dessert. $17 spent.

Sometimes, we pass a place that is selling items cheap on sidewalk. Once we bought ALL. They gave me two skeins of crochet thread. The skeins were a surprise. They told me that two stores down items would be free in two days..

Next time I passed, I got one free item. Today, we passed, rather stopped. People were lined up getting items and putting items in bags to take. We waited at the curb, asked the man if he could give us something.

He gave us choices of bread, and I chose marbled rye. I love it with cheese. Then, he gathered up five small bags--10 lbs, cherries, 2 bell peppers, 7 ears of corn, 18 kiwi, turkey hotdogs, 1 lb, ground round, 1.5 lb ground beef. There was a donation jar. Tommy had a $100 bill, and I had a $5, so I got to donate. I would say we certainly got a deal.

Now, lots of this needs processing. I have never bought more than two kiwi at a time. So, I had to search for how to store them. I love kiwi but rarely purchase them. When I see them for $1 each, I pass.

Tommy came and reported we have had a cabbage for a long time, two packages of Brussel's sprouts and something else. He is Refrigerator Master, Lord of Cold Storage, Duke of Earl.

I need to take a nap and the get onto food processing later.

We made the rounds for the three ads, And, we drifted into a used car place, drove around, talked to a salesman, promised him we would come back. We only shopped at Publix and the free food table.

My two breakfasts are 1) Special K, banana, milk or 2) pb, MW, banana sandwich. Neither of these requires me to take my hurting back to the kitchen to prepare.  Actually, I would prefer scrambled eggs and one piece of toast. Sometimes, I like a bowl of beans--black eyed peas or navy beans with maybe tomato or slaw. Maybe I will have cleaner scramble nine eggs again. That will last for 3-4 days. Hopefully, Special K will be bogo soon.

Only 3 ears of corn were okay.

What are your choices for breakfast?

Do you ever pass a random place with free food?

Tommy Won't Let Me Talk

Tommy received a large check for income tax refund. But, it was not what he expected or the number he turned in to IRS. I knew he sat down to do this. And, I was aware I should not talk. But, I just keep talking to him. Then, he fusses at me. Maybe I can remember from now on. I just still feel so bad, ill actually. My brain is not working! This is a med that makes me feel awful, almost worse than what I have.

My black eye is worse today. All these frozen spots hurt so, burn, itch. I look like I was in a fight!

I keep opening my mouth to talk and shut it quickly....lol. I suppose he does not care about the pretty earrings on the girl on the news story.

Today, even though I was too tired, we went to the place to pick up food for the five little girls. We got two boxes and gave them the lion's share once again. I kept 9 lbs of apples, gave them 12 lbs. Kept 6 lbs. of peaches, gave them 6 lbs.

I kept two 2 lb. bags of navy beans, gave them 2 lbs. They got all the canned food, about 20 cans, 6 of those canned salmon. We kept the milk, two gallons. All five are now in school or at sitters, so mother can work, and the girls eat at school and with sitter. The next time I don't feel like going, we won't. Summer was the lean time for them.

That above won't go away. I didn't do it.

If I cannot stand the Gala apples, I will give them those next week. The peaches are delicious.

Last evening, I went through the red box. It was all Christmas stuff that I bought on sale. Some items were gifts. Now I have some place to put the piddling rest of the Christmas stuff away.

In a bit he is going to take all the plastic tarps out that make the trunk look so full. Tomorrow, he will bring in a box of paperwork. This is part of my declutter, obviously.

I made another call today about the dogs and one about the yard next door. Maybe this will work.

I took a nap, mostly rested. But, I wasn't talking! He found one error in his tax calculations. So, he has his original calculation, IRS calculation, and a new calculation. He will call IRS tomorrow. ???

Just now, he refused to watch a movie with Marlon Brando because he cannot stand him. I never heard of anyone who could not stand Marlon Brando. He is not my favorite actor or even close, but I watch his movies.

Yes, we are talking since he is through with the math project.

Do you like Marlon Brando?

Has the IRS ever shorted you on your refund?

Do antibiotics ever make you sicker than what you have?

Bypassing Amazon

No, I am not feeling better. Could not sleep last night, did not try today. I am going to bed very early tonight.

We went to get bread, milk, and bananas. I needed to go and do something, somewhere but told Tommy I could not handle anymore. My bread was bogo. Tommy got one loaf last week and another today. I took ten slices out of the last loaf and put it into freezer bags. two slices in each bag. The one he got today will get the same treatment. Since I now have room in the freezer, I can save money on bread.

We are eating protein from the freezer, so maybe by turkey breast sale time, I can add a few of those for next year. Right now, we are eating cooked protein. There is some frozen that maybe I can get thawed and cooked, and refrozen for quick meals.

We did get from the local hardware a light bulb with a sensor in it that turns the light on at dusk and off at dawn, only $8. He brought it out to us, took the cc, and brought it back to car. Good deal. Better than Lowe's!

We came home and I still had not put the clean car in the carport nor had I looked to see what was in the trunk that needed to come out. If we do it now, we will not have to ask the buyers or pay cleaner or mower. The trunk was stuffed full. Really, that was where I put plastic I used on lawn to paint things. So, not as full as it looked. One thing had to come in. We can do a box each day. Half the trunk had the thin tarps. I need to paint, so I will keep them to use for that, bundled into a bag.

Tommy chose the red Rubbermaid box. Inside, I found all sort of Christmas and Auburn stuff, bought on sale, obviously. I put one Auburn object on Tommy's chair. He tossed it aside and didn't murmur a word. I will get it back tomorrow when he is out of the chair. He never, ever says thank you. Remember that he graduated from Auburn.

Latest project--making a dowel thing to hang his Auburn banner. I did find a bit to declutter in car I am selling. Decluttered my table by my chair so it won't accumulate. Red box is still sitting, waiting on me.

I only got three calls out of dozen made today. But, that is still a win considering how awful I feel.

My teeth are flossed and brushed, so I will not eat more. Besides, it is 9:30, and I intend to be in bed by 10 pm.

I need to shine up the chrome on the car to make it look extra spiffy and clean out the two little pockets on each door. Huggies Wipes are handy.

Okay, had meds to take, so will try to stay awake until 10:30 in order not to have reflux.

Have you ever used a bulb with sensor in the bulb to turn light off and on with the sun?

Feeling Much Better

Friday, we both had prescriptions to pick up at the pharmacy. Tommy had one and I had two. One of my prescriptions needed a PA, so I left it. I was surprised when I still received two prescriptions. One was for uti. I thought the doctor was not sending it. He sent it two days before! So, one dose on Friday and the first on Saturday has me fit as a fiddle.

Well, I think I am okay then try to go out and one store does me in. I don't even have to go in, just sit while Tommy shops or returns something. I bought a shower rack thing that sticks to the shower. Only one suction was included. This was not a piece that someone stole. It was tightly packed and sealed. Ugh! While he was returning it, I got another. All this was a pain in the neck and left me exhausted. We had to come home, and I went straight to bed for a much-needed nap.

On Saturday, the friend who has wanted to buy my car came, brought her father, both drove it, and she left a $6000.00 check so I would hold it and trade for cash sometime this week. Yay! They both were shocked at how clean it was inside and out, especially inside. Her father drove it about one mile and commented to her that the steering was as tight as a new car.

I forgot I hit one of those yellow things in front of car when parking. I told her is had no scratches. I forgot that one. I don't know whether to confess or let her husband find it when he comes with her to pick it up. It is still the same price. They are worried about whether the oil is dark and needs changing. Maybe. But, I won't be changing that for them. If they want to change it before leaving, there are plenty of oil change businesses here.

Tommy is dragging his feet on car shopping. Of course, I have not felt well. Maybe this week we can get out when it is not raining.

So funny--I had to explain to Tommy what a 'bodice ripper" was. Man had never heard that term. He clues me in to things all time.

Did you notice the cold front that came through?

Age Spot Remover

I still don't know where the product for dark spots is located. I tried to find it online. I do remember I found it at Walmart and the brand was Palmer's in a three-inch pot. It said something about removing dark spots. It worked!!! It is not expensive but I have no idea what it cost. I used a miniscule amount on each spot. The spot was about a quarter of an inch. I had others that were spaller specks. At first, I only used about a rice-sized bit on the larger dot. I did this every day. Eventually, the spot was fading. This may have taken a week.

Then, I looked at it and sort of gently scratched it with my nail. It started coming off!!! Then, it was gone. Eventually, I lost interest in removing the spots because they were either gone or almost gone. I suppose I should have done it regularly, just less often. The spot came back but not as dark.

I have another product I purchased because the doctor prescribed cream to get rid of the rough place on the left elbow where I put my arm on the console in Tommy's car. In the winter when I have a sweater on, the rough place goes away. I didn't purchase what the doctor recommended because it had tea tree oil. Try UUPDERFF Urea 42% Cream + 2% Salicylic Acid. I found it on Amazon. I think it was about $20, but it lasts forever. I have been using this pot for over a year.

I have been putting UUPDERFF only on my elbow. This week I put it on my spots. It works.

Anything with urea or salicylic acid will work for spots. The product the doctor recommended had urea. This is when I asked him if I could just pee on my hand. He said in med school, he thought it was weird to put urine on skin. But, he said he learned they were different. Yes, he laughed when I said that. Why not have fun at the doctor's visit.

Retinol helps with skin turnover and will help remove dark spots. Urea and salicylic acid are ingredients that will help, also. I suppose the higher percentage works better, but be wary of using it too often.

Oil of Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 works, too.

If you use any of this cream like hand lotion, it will not last as long as using it just a tiny bit, grain of rice size on the spot. I suppose it depends on what you want and how many spots you have. Mine are few and not large, so you decide along with your doctor what you need. This is not medical advice, just what I did.

These places I had frozen off my back are raised and can be partially scratched off. The spots on my hand were flat and were not anything that could be scratched off. Keep that in mind.

Has anyone used any product or ingredients I mentioned?

Black Eye & Cold Front & Snail on Me

I awoke to a black eye from the freezing of spot under my eye. And, I could not see out of that eye well, because a huge lump obscured my view. Today, it is worse. It is going to take nerve on my part to return.

Today, well right now, cleaner is here washing my car to sell. I don't feel like driving to car wash and need stickers on my tag. I don't want to get a ticket.

I told Tommy three days ago we needed to find the bottle of car wash liquid in the house. I reminded him several times each day. Well, he decided last night he would look. Of course, he did not look where I was sure it was located. So, we left to go buy some and got home at 2:25 this afternoon when we expected her at 2:30. Then, she did not get here until after 3:45. It is okay, but I could have been sleeping.

We will have a cold front come through. Yes, it is going to be all the way down to 90 this weekend. Whoopee!

Dinner--pork loin, carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes in cole slaw, green beans All are leftovers. Tommy will have a salad. I will have slaw and tomatoes. I like to chop the tomatoes and stir them into my slaw. Tomato juice running into the slaw is a plus.

Every day we watch the Olympics, not all of it, not all of the events. And, the events we do watch, we don't even watch all the event. It is fun to see. The gymnasts are the ones I really want to see.

One evening, at 7:30 I noticed an alert for delivered package. It was delivered about 6:30. Tommy got it in and gave it to me. It took about ten minutes to open, get the items out and the box off my lap. About two minutes later I felt something went on my midriff. It looked like a very wet bean. I touched it and realized it was a snail. This was horrifying. It wanted to crawl away. I got a Kleenex, captured it, and one of us flushed it, Tommy, I think.

I am quite sure the snail was not inside the box. So, snails must like the porch. Yuck. I will be mindful of box deliveries, well, any deliveries. I was so grossed out. I hate snails!

Having an elevated temp make me so tired.

Do snails repulse you as much as they do me?

An Expensive Car Key Loss

About the age spot remover--I will look for it tomorrow at store. I wanted it for one flat brown spot. The things I had taken off were raised, so this spot was different.

The woman who just saw my car and asked about it without my advertising it wants to test drive it. However, I managed to lose the key. I spent several hours trying to talk to a dealer or locksmith about the problem. One dealer said it would be $90 to make key, and $175 to program it, and "oh, by the way, you need to have it towed to the dealer." That won't fly.

One locksmith called. He could come here, make the key, program it from his van for $250--DEAL! We were amazed he could do it from his van since no one else seemed to be able.

One woman from one locksmith was difficult to understand because of her heavy accent and fast talking. I asked her to slow down because her accent made communication difficult. When she hear 'accent' she started screaming at me that she 'did not have an accent.' I hung up. I was polite, but she went ballistic.

At other places, I was told to leave a voice mail. Only one actually called back, but the guy we used was here already.

One phone answerer promised a person on the other end. Three times I got an answering machine. The fourth time I called back, I pointed out I had not gotten a person. She got all indignant about me not like the way they did business and she was sorry I was unhappy. I hung up again.

I would recommend Around the Clock Locksmith--1205-225-6457. He was very nice, polite, prompt and took my debit card. Areas We Serve | Around The Clock Locksmith (atc-locks.com) He happened to be in the area, so the service was fast.

Maybe they have this business in other areas/states. It appears so when I googled the business.

Today, I had a list of 18 things to do, some were places we needed to go, and others were calls. I managed to get over half done.

I found out how to get to voice mails and was upset my monthly rate went up when I tried to get a better deal on cells. That was a bummer. two places to return things are on the list for tomorrow. Cannot get electrician to respond. Paid Amazon. No late charge. Called derm to find out why Tommy's prescription shampoo was not called in to pharmacy. We got all three store ads and bought some things. Got Tommy's car tag stickers. Called my bank.

Yesterday, I was commenting about a police car. As we passed it Tommy said,

"He lit me up." I have never heard that phrase, so wondered aloud why we were turning into a church. The guy reminded him and let us go.

I had gotten an email from McAfee that they had charged me $818.16 cents for five years of McAfee. I got out of email with no response and called bank. I will call every day. Then, I got a call that someone had ordered and ipad with my Amazon card, to call back if I had not ordered it or do something else. I just hung up. I don't play those games. Whew!

Tommy had salad at dinner time when I was sleeping. A apple flavored pork loin, carrots, onions, and potatoes are in the oven. I suppose it will be done by 10 pm.

I have a uti, so maybe won't eat much.

No, I don't know where I lost the key.

Has getting new key been a hassle for you? This programming is a pain.

Pain Like I Have Never Felt at Doctor's; Smell of Burning Flesh

So, what do you do when you have had three hard days, not enough sleep? Well, I suppose you go to the most painful medical procedure in a doctor's office in your whole life!

There was no smell with my procedures and no pain with Tommy' procedure.

I even took Tommy with me to his very first visit to this type doctor.  Surprisingly, he had things he wanted done, too. He has kicked against this type doctor, but went willingly and added procedures.

When they got through with me, I begged them to hurt him, too. But, they did not, giving him multiple shots of pain killer. What!!!

The doctor pretty much laughed at me most of the time. And, I am going back every two weeks-- my choice! I will get this over with once and for all.

My dermatologist went to another office that is further away. So, I decided to give his associate a try. I went for several skin problems, but they all seem to be a variation of one problems--seborrheic keratoses. I have mentioned this before.

However, there never seemed to be a solution. It appears there is a solution. However, I thought I was dying. Yes, I am speaking in hyperbole. It seemed real!

He always took the container of liquid nitrogen and shot it pst pst here and pst there onto the spots. No, I wasn't squealing. Well, she took the liquid nitrogen and went psssssssssssssssssttt over and OVER. It hurt so that I was squealing and trying not to do so. The first place she did was under my eye. This is not a cosmetic fix for me. The place hurt, felt tingly like electricity, and I kept accidentally poking it and hurting it with my nails when I tried to wipe my eye. The procedure took my breath away.

My heart was racing. I wonder what the Holter monitor was reading.

Then, she moved on the next place but told me not to scream. Tommy said I was not screaming, just squealing a bit.  The next place was under my breasts. That was very painful, and I had to hold my breasts up, not squeal, and remember to breathe! This was at my chest wall. Then, I had some on my breasts! That did not hurt so much, but I had to be careful not to get my fingers in the way.

Thennnn, she said they were all over my back. He would pst about eight keratoses and say, "next time." Then, they all had to be retreated when I came in next.  She gave a huge section of my back a pssssssssssssssssssst. She will do my back in sections. I mostly grunted for my back.

Right now, the one under my eye is really hurting! The back itches something fierce. This ordeal wiped me out! Maybe you think I am being melodramatic or a big baby, but it was real.

I wanted Tommy to go to dermatologist for his horrid dandruff. He has been adamant he was not going, that it was his dandruff, and he was not going. Well, he agreed, and I made the appointment. He had a surprise. He had a growth removed from his back that the men is his family have had on their backs through generations. He swore he would keep that. Sometime, he grew one on his behind, too. So, they burned those off. The smell of burning flesh was horrendous. Neither hurt him. One stung a bit. They did give him several shots for pain in each location. I was given nothing!

Then, we had a BK, Jr. and went to look at cars. We found a Hallmark car place, talked to a salesman who went to get himself a golf cart, then Tommy decided we needed to go in order to miss rush hour. I need to call and apologize on Thursday.

We came closer to home and saw another car dealer, drove through and came home.  We were both very tired, and it was almost five pm.

Thankfully, we had hotdogs and chili without beans, so no cooking. I had one bun, two hotdogs, chili sauce, and shredded cheese on top along with tomato and slaw. Tomorrow, I will probably have slaw on my dog and freeze the rest of the chili sauce. Tommy had two hotdogs and buns, salad, and some other vegetables.

Last night, Tommy forgot the muscadine in the car. I think I will make a smidgen of jelly, not very sweet jelly, more like syrup. I love eating muscadines, but these seemed tough and bitter. So, they were not fun to eat. Tommy said he might have one. Maybe I should have bought scuppernong.

Have you ever had liquid nitrogen applied to anything. Did it hurt like the devil? Did you get a spritz or two or a long psssssssssssssst?

Did it hurt?

Did the place come back?

What was it?

Did you have anything burned off and smelled flesh?

Three Hard Days

Monday, the cleaner came. I went for a nap. Electrician said he was coming soon. I waited up, and we did not eat dinner. He was later than he said, and then stayed here three hours. At the end of day (three am), I was exhausted.

Today, we awoke with a list. We trimmed the list until we could do all.

I went into Lowe's to find another light for over kitchen sink. There was nothing I could see that would work in the space. No one came to help, and I could not read the boxes or get them down. We had things to return and another item to purchase. Leaving the rest off was how we trimmed that trip to Lowe's. We left off another store with returns.

Tommy does returns, so he was glad not to get out of the car both places. He did go into the two stores. Tomorrow is another busy day, so we were trying not to wear ourselves clean slap out.

The Kraft Parmesan Cheese in the green shaker was on sale but gone. So, I settled for the Parmesan Romano. I told Tommy to get a 5 gallon of vinegar. Yes, I was that tired. Then we went to Publix with a list Tommy made from last week's ad. He got a few things, nothing on the list. We took cheese sandwiches so we would not buy something out. His blood sugar dropped while he was in the first store, so he wisely bought M&Ms to keep blood sugar from dropping too much. He would have been at passing out stage soon.

He bought us each a chicken tender from Publix--$4 total. Even though we ate them in the car, I decided that would be our dinner protein.

We went to the Farmer's Market in the park, but the park was blocked off. It seems that there was a Night Out or something. We drove between the barriers to get in. Someone saw us and moved the saw horses closer together. The women always come to us, get our order and take the card. Today, we bought a cup of tomatoes--5 and a cup of muscadines. Those will be good. Tommy may eat one of the five. At 6 pm, we unloaded the car. I went to bed at 6:30 and could only sleep one hour.

I sliced the last tomato we bought last week. It was so good. I had slaw and several slices on tomato for dinner about 8 pm when I awoke. Then, I added one hotdog and no bun. I will have an apple later.

I tried a Oui Lime Pie flavor, and it was horrid. I am so glad I only had one.

Tomorrow, our day won't start until noon, thankfully. My body is shaking right now.

Maybe it is too soon to rejoice. This evening, I took one glucosamine chondroitin. Dose is two, three times a day. When I awoke from my little nap, my knee did not hurt in the least. Of course, a few more days will be the real test. Twenty-five years ago, I had severe knee pain after knee surgery for a torn meniscus. The doctor told me this probably would not help. The next morning, my knee was better. After that for years I never had pain. It seems I am having the same results. I may have spoken too soon.

I sort of wrote this post out of order, but it all happened. No editing again.

Have you ever taken Glucosamine Chondroitin? Did it work?

Have you ever been worn to a frazzle with a disability and cannot recover for weeks? That is where I am heading!

Lights, Tub, Oven

If you remember, there is only a light in the vent hood over the stove for the kitchen and dining room. No more darkness for us now. We have a fixture right near the refrigerator. I am not sure why it is not in the middle of the kitchen. There is a new fixture now. We also now have a chandelier over the dining table. We have glorious light!

He started with the light over the sink. But, the pretty light I chose could not be mounted on the wall as the mount is not on the wall. There is a box on the ceiling. So, it was not going to work. Tomorrow, I will return it to Lowe's and get a new one.

This guy is the one I saw in Lowe's. He is not an electrician but seemed to know what he was doing. He was mounting both the ceiling lights standing on the floor. He is 6'7" tall. I did bring him an 8" stool because he just needed it because it was a strain working. He did not get here until after 8 pm and left after 11 pm. He charged $50 for each light. The kitchen one was especially difficult.

We did find the third light I purchased, and we lost. It was under the dining room table. Tommy had searched the room. I knew it was in there!

Now, we don't need to have two floor lamps to be able to see at all. Tommy told me there was no light in the oven. I cannot bend so far as to see. The guy took it out and tested it. It works. He could not find the way to turn it on; there is a strange little knob on the stovetop. I have tried my best to twist it or something. I pointed it out. He could not make it work, either. I believe the light does not work or the control broke and someone screwed something in there just so the stove would look like it was all there. So, Tommy bought a house with a stove that has no control for the oven light. That is not a biggie, I suppose. But, lots of things were sold to him that are not right in this house. It took 40 years to figure this out. Oh, the stove is Harvest Gold and thermostat in over is off 50 degrees.

Cleaner came today--made my bed, helped find curling iron, most things she did after that were things we could not reach or do. I had a list of things that took so little time and effort. One thing she did was to clean car windshield inside and out. That was the hardest thing she did...lol. Tommy thinks it is clean all the time and never, ever cleans it.

Things are looking up all over. I asked Tommy when he was getting a shower/tub I could get into. He said it was getting harder for him, too. He said he had been thinking that we might as well bite the bullet and stay in a motel for the two or three days they promise to do the job. He meant stay away for the whole two or three days. No Way! We will just stay at night in a motel and spend day here when they are working. YAY! Any suggestions for the best brand? We only have space of tub to install.  Or, we could convert one bedroom to bathroom and put washer and dryer into the current bathroom.  That is what I would like to do. No, I will not have washer and dryer in the bathroom. It will not work. I was shocked when he said he had been thinking about an accessible tub/shower! Neither of us wants a sitting tub in which to bathe, probably just shower.

Today, I had cleaner take down curtain over kitchen window and throw it and bent curtain rod away. Tommy has still not noticed. It was a cheap, yellow, fiberglass curtain, filthy and sticky. If washed, those things shred in the washer. It was coated in grease and cigarette smoke from over 40 years. The curtain was here when he bought the place.

Last week, I noticed there was a clock in the kitchen. I put one by the sink, but not this one. I asked him about it. He said we put a new battery in it when I came here, and the clock did not work. Two days ago I asked him if he would drop it in the trash. He said, "Okay."  He insisted we keep a cheap, broken clock for five years, and I am not sure why.

I can now see that one wall, solid wood paneling, and I hate it. I want to paint it lemon yellow. We need more light...lol.

If anyone has a recommendation on the walk-in showers, let me know. We want a 1-inch lip and glass doors to close, not the open shower.

WE HAVE LIGHT!

Do you have an accessible tub or shower? Any problems? Recommend?

Toothbrushes

We all have them. Most people have more than one, maybe one in a purse or glove compartment, one in a suitcase, one never opened, waiting in line for use.

My favorite toothbrush that I received from my dentist was discontinued. The dental office did not know why. I took it upon myself to discover why. It turns out the machine that made the GUM toothbrush I loved broke. They were going to fix it. Nope. Six months later, the company decided not to repair the machine, just discontinue making my toothbrush. RATS!

The dental office found another one they recommended and to give to patients. It hurts my gums, but they had given me two, so Tommy got those, even the one I tried. I read about another one at CVS--Oral B Sensi Soft. It is wonderful. Tommy bought me two to try. They are over $9/2.

I found the same thing on Amazon for a little over $4. One tore up when I stuffed it back into the packing. So, I ordered two more. Then, I promptly lost the package I bought at CVS.

Today, I saw a little bit of a white plastic bag peeking from between a couple of white envelopes. It was the lost toothbrushes I bought from CVS. Okay, I have about five new, never-used toothbrushes.

I have two old ones like I like in Tommy's bathroom drawer. I took it. He did not care since any toothbrush suits him. Then, I found another two of the GUM toothbrushes in my stash of extra stuff. Then, I found a used one in the glove compartment in a toothbrush holder.

I think there are also about 8 toothbrushes in active use. It is ridiculous, I know. It just happened somehow. I never have had more than two toothbrushes in use before now. They were already open when I counted them. I have one by my chair, one at the sink, and one by my bed. They all three travel between locations. lol. Silly toothbrushes.

Years ago, I gave all three children, sil, dil, and four grandchildren free toothbrushes. Free to me or about a quarter apiece. I don't find those bargains now. But, for the ones I use now, I never intend to be without this new brand--Oral B Sensi Soft--00410-10430. If I ever seen the GUM Sun again, I will buy more of those.

Toothbrushes were passed out to lots of people for a few years. It makes me anxious to think people don't have toothbrushes. I feel obligated to help people who need them.

Okay, enough said about toothbrushes.

I almost never throw away a toothbrush, storing them under bathroom sink and kitchen sink to clean.

Today, the cleaner cancelled. She needs a new tire on her car. I have a list of things for her, nothing hard or lengthy. The list will keep things moving along. I thought we did not remove all the food from the freezer to sort, but she and Tommy say we did.

This afternoon, I suggested we go somewhere to get out of the house. We tried to see the dogs but could not. Then, we went to look at a car in a closed car lot. I thought car dealers were open on Sundays. Then, I found a dress that I hope works, and little pink purse so I don't carry this heavy red one. It can be a fanny pack or crossbody. And, we got Tommy's milk. Plus, he requested serving spoons without slots. I got another pack of  microfiber cloths. This way, I can fill two or three of the lingerie bags with dirty cloths and wash them separately in the washing machine in cold water. I did not know until lately that they should not be washed in hot water or dried.

That was our big excursion for the day. The day was bright, beautiful, and very dry.

I finally got the fertilizer ready for Tommy to use on flowers and blackberries. so he needs to water with just water today.

Do you ever use Miracle Gro?

Do your gums seem to hurt with some toothbrushes? Are they sensitive like mine?

What is your favorite toothbrush?

Poor Dogs! Update!

I had Tommy go to the fence and try to lure the dogs into sight. We have not seen them for a few days. It was over 105F 'feels like' temperature. He took dog treats with him, real dog treats not leftovers.

He can hear one dog barking when he called for 'doggy.'  The window he could see open was only open about eight inches. I am quite sure the dog is too hot.

I was so mad I said I was going to call Governor Memaw! Oh, called police and guy told me twice that was for animal control. I reminded him he had to contact him, so he said he would. That was the moment I was more angry. They would be better off outside where they might catch a breeze or lie in the grass under a tree or in the shade of the house. Remember, there is no electricity in this house to run ac or fan.

Maybe this is unreasonable, but this is stressing me!

The other dog that is not barking is fat and wheezy sounding. I hope he is not suffering so he cannot even bark.

The Hueytown. AL police department must know something I don't about the conditions under which a dog is not abused, stressed, and in danger. Isn't this akin to leaving a dog in a hot car?

UPDATE:

Tommy was wrong. The dog is outside, just over on the other side of the house. However, there is one dog all alone as far as we or the policeman who came here can see.  At least, the dog is not shut up in the hot house. So, the animal control officer will be alerted again. It is a mystery as to why this is not corrected. Still, this is heartbreaking.

Friday Fatigue

There was lots of rain here. And,100 mph winds somewhere in Alabama.

Thursday night, I did not sleep until 7 am, so will try to reverse that Friday night. I slept 3 hours then another two in the evening. We had to go out today, so I am exhausted. With fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, it is not surprising I am exhausted, but a little sleep lifts my mood somewhat, actually lots. Despite the fatigue, I did manage to accomplish a few things.

The day was beautiful, and the wind rose as the day passed. Birds were rapturous, singing and swooping here and there. We saw a large group of small birds seemingly fall from the sky and begin to peck around, then they all took off. Tommy said they were starlings, but they must have been very young since they were not large enough or black enough. Okay, he just told me they were starlings and full-grown.

Dinner--chicken, squash casserole, slaw, green beans. I think Tommy had same thing plus carrots and potatoes, the last of those. I had strawberries.

Tonight, I trimmed and froze 3 pints of strawberries. They were going fast, so I needed to preserve them in freezer. Now, I need to put up the rest of the squash or cook it to eat. Tomorrow.

The mower showed up today instead of Saturday. The heavy rains came as he left the porch with his check. The cleaner cancelled because she had to go to the doctor since her surgery on her thumb has become infected. However, she will come Sunday.

Thus, we have no plans for tomorrow, but it appears it will rain. My plans are to find my car keys! I cannot take it for a wash without the keys.

What are your plans for Saturday? The weekend?

Different Car Search

It s shocking when Tommy told me the squash we had bought eight days before was still in the refrigerator, two cups, along with three quarts of strawberries. You have to understand I rarely look in the refrigerator.

He has washed two quarts of strawberries, telling me that he only lost about five strawberries. Today, I took care of the squash, one cup, anyway--squash casserole.

I cannot remember the recipe, but sort of know. I tried what I thought a couple of years ago, and it was awful. So, I tried the same recipe with different cheese. I always used sliced American Cheese. But, the last time that was so awful, I tried to use a healthier cheese--Kraft Cheddar. So, this time is when I used sliced American cheese again.

The trouble is that there was little American cheese. Tommy eats that; I don't. He had about a year's worth in the freezer, most of which we found when freezer was cleaned out. So, he brought out a package sized portion. It had ice all over it, tasted okay, but texture was awful--not cheesy, sort of crunchy, dry and crumbly.

I cut the squash, put buttered bread pieces on it, along with the awful cheese. Well, it turned out great. I made slaw from slaw mix bought over a week ago! We will eat it soon so that I can mix the other package.

Since I had put four pieces of lightly buttered bread in the squash casserole, I decided to have no bun with my burger. The burger, slaw, and squash casserole were delicious tonight.

Well, that is a lot of talk about a very simple dinner! I probably won't make the squash casserole again this year.

When I first came here, I tried to convince Tommy not to eat American Cheese he had, to eat Cheddar. I told him it was better for him. He said, "I will just eat good old American Cheese!"  When I told him why it was not good for us, he was shocked into silence. Now, he mostly eats other cheese.

Mower did not come today. Cleaner will come on Friday and Sunday. Mower will come on Saturday. I have just about convinced Tommy to use the guy from Lowe's to put up the light fixtures.

I went into Publix instead of sending Tommy and spent over $40 and bought no food. It was all edible, though. I did buy a quart of Chobani yogurt for me and the cooked Jimmy Dean sausage patties. Tommy won't eat yogurt, and I will only eat two of the eight sausage patties, his reward for not getting sausage and biscuit from Hardees. I did buy Diet Mt. Dew bogo, but only six bottles. I will only drink half one at a time and not very often. I do not need the caffeine. I wish they made it caffeine free.

I heard this woman on sort of whispered rant. Finally, I asked her if she was talking about cereal. She was. I told her I found it cheaper at The Pig, even when it was bogo at Publix. It was funny as she was raking Publix over the coals.

This afternoon, a car advertisement came up on my news feed about a sale. I clicked on and had to go through this form to put name and email and zip code. I quit when they wanted my phone number. Three minutes later I got a call from a car salesman from a car dealer in Birmingham. I exclaimed, "Oh, I just knew you dealers were tracking me. At any rate, I agreed to come in maybe tomorrow or Saturday. Maybe I won't if people are coming here.

I am quite sure I did not put in my phone number. My email was already in the form along with my first name and maiden name. I have not entered that for a car company, either. So, I suppose anyone knows all about me. A friend is so careful so no one tracks her as she browses. I think we have no chance of hiding!

Do you have people contact you after being on the internet?

When you email or write something on a blog, does the item show up in an ad or a news feed?
