Respite From Car Buying

Cooking and purposely freezing some for later is certainly a lifesaver. i cooked a large meatloaf that lasted three meals for the two of us. Plus, I put some in a tiny casserole. Tonight, we had the tiny meatloaf that I cooked just a few days ago. Tommy washed and I sliced the squash and zucchini I bought. I sprinkled with onion and garlic powders. I should have used onions! I drizzled with olive oil and Tommy microwaved a huge bowl full. Dinner was meatloaf, squashes, green beans. These were the worst canned beans ever! But, I ate them.

Today was basically a recovery day filled with sleep for me. Sleep was not often and fitful on Saturday night. I finally awoke at 4:30 pm today.

In the night when I could not sleep, I cleaned up a bunch of clean clothes Tommy dumped on my walker that I needed to hang or fold. So, my room looks somewhat better. I also got black or blackish things ready to wash. To avoid items getting pills all over, I now wash dark items, especially black ones in the small lingerie bags. It is easier to get them ready and they don't rub against other items. Plus, Tommy  only has to pull out bags from the washer.

I also gathered up mending, hand mending. These have collected over the months.

Tommy was watching the Yellawood 500 at Talladega when I awoke. There was a huge wreck, worth watching cars go round and round--28 cars!

My news feed is chock full of articles about cars not to buy, Honda cars, and things I put on my blog. Creepy! But, they are somewhat helpful. Very helpful in some cases.

Thanks for the helpful comments from readers.

Sleep seems to have found me again. Maybe I can sleep.

Does nnyone live in peninsula of Florida?

Has anyone bought a new car lately?

If you live nearby, did you go to the Greek Festival?

  1. I agree that cooking and freezing for later can be a real lifesaver. There is something real good about getting a frozen soup out of the freezer and making it for lunch. Meatloaf sounds delicious. I gave Bailey a choice of that or hamburgers or tacos and she picked hamburgers the other day, but I am still wanting a meatloaf. Hopefully soon.

    1. Belinda,
Ready food is a lifesaver. Tonight, I had Tommy go in tonight and see what there was to eat that was cooked. Last night, he got out four packages of raw chicken, one package of turkey breast, and three meals that we bought cooked. The chicken will all go in one cooking bag, and individual meals shared by us. I chose the half turkey breast and decided I wants Stovetop Dressing. So, in five minutes the dressing was done and turkey breast heated along with other vegetables we had cooked yesterday. I was delighted!

The half turkey breast was from 2022 and still tasty and moist and delicious.

  2. It seems I can only comment on this device, which I now use infrequently, so hence my seemed absence!

For many years we owned a home in Florida, but it lost its appeal to us. Our area got entirely too built up, so we couldn't imagine eventually living there permanently. (Plus some other things turned us off the state.)

We bought youngest college kid, who is commuting, a car recently. It's a Lexus RX 350, and I am thinking I will send DH and a kid up to trade in "my" vehicle for one of those. I despise buying cars almost as much as I despise driving so they act as proxy. My dislike of driving is why we made them get their licenses as soon as they were able. They knew full well what was expected of them in exchange for pretty much unfettered access to the family vehicles. (Put it this way, they know their way around a supermarket, and how to use the rewards programs.) They all LOVE buying cars. On more than one occasion I have looked out the window to see DH and a kid pull up in a new vehicle. First thing DH did when a kid got their driver's licenses was take them up and talk them through the car buying process. Several times they would go up driving together in one vehicle, and come back in separate cars. It's one of the few areas I relinquish all control over, as I do not care what I drive beyond reliability and comfort. (I am small, so I prefer sport utility vehicles . I currently have a Rav4 which was my "everyone-in-the-house-is-now-a-licensed-driver-and-you- no-longer-have-to-cart-kids-in-a-minivan gift from Daughter and DH.)

    1. Meg,
Usually, I have no problem with the car buying process or driving. But, I am constantly exhausted. A Rav 4 would work for a shorter and smaller person. It is not my fatness but my height and not being about to bend left knee much.
It is good you now don't have to drive.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
