I caught a raccoon on Tuesday night. Animal Control is coming to take it away. It was a baby. Next, I will catch the mama. In one day last week, I saw 2 raccoons, 3 bunnies, one huge red ground squirrel, a ground hog and a possum, Of course, I always see and hear hundreds of birds and squirrels. Okay, it is gone, now.
I made s'mores for breakfast. I cut a marshmallow in half, put it on half a sheet of graham crackers, put it in the oven on broil until the marshmallow started to brown. Then, I turned it over on half a Hershey bar on top of half a sheet of graham crackers.
It was pure heaven. I used regular-size marshmallows and it was too sweet. It melted all over my hand. Next time, I will use half a marshmallow. I could not have handled a giant marshmallow or the big square ones. I won't ever eat two. I will not ever eat it on an empty stomach.
I think I could have used chocolate chips that I have instead of investing in a candy bar.
Do you have a yard full of wild animals? Is there a common treat you have never had?
yes, we have wild animals for sure :) I'm sure once we are living out there we will see more. Currently it's chipmunks. Deer come through. Wild turkeys. We've got two bald eagles in a nest across the river. To get to see them (once in a while if we are lucky) swoop down and pull a fish out of the river is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a common treat I have never had, but I will say I was well until adulthood until I tried several popular treats. My first s'more came when I was 40, and pregnant with my youngest. I was underwhelmed. Around that Christmastime I was given Chex mix for the first time!
ReplyDeleteMeg B,
DeleteI won't be eating another s'more unless I am forced at gunpoint. I don't really like marshmallows melted in food. I like marshmallows alone or on a peanut butter sandwich. I like graham crackers in milk or with a bit of pb. The Hershey is best eaten alone, too. I never make chex mix and rarely eat it. Thanks.
When I first saw the title of the post I read raccoon smores without the ! separating them. I thought you might be using smores to catch the raccoon.
ReplyDeleteChocolate chips work for smores but the texture of the melted chocolate is a tad different. The Hershey;s milk chocolate has a much silkier melt than the chocolate chips
Anne,
DeleteI saw that and wondered if the title would be mistaken for just that. Cats might be attracted to smores.
I wondered about the texture and also the fact that I use dark chocolate chips. I may try one graham cracker in a day or two. The cloying sweet of the s'more is still with me.
One,
ReplyDeleteThat must be amazing to see the bald eagles. I would have to get a trail cam and a couple of pairs of binoculars to see what comes and goes. I wonder if you have deer.
I never had a hot fudge sundae until I was 26. I love soft ice cream. And I usually have a root beer float every summer. Haven't had my float yet. Those are my favorite. I don't think you asked any questions about my sweets. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is lots of wildlife in your yard. Glad you got Animal Control out for the raccoons. They can be mean. Good luck with catching the rest of them.
tana50,
DeleteI, too, love soft ice cream. Well, I enjoyed hearing your favorites anyway.
That is what I thought, a lot of animals. And, there is probably more. Now, my trap won't work! So, he can come back and make it work! grrrr
I hate raccoons and am terrified of them.
Be thankful you aren't catching skunks! Lol
DeleteLots of wild life in my yard. We have bear, moose, deer, fox, coyotes, wolves, squirrels and more geese and ducks than I like...thankfully if you don't bother the wild life, they won't bother you!
