"Hello, Tommy, a female is calling you..."

Tommy was in the kitchen and did not make it back to answer the phone. He doesn't mind if I answer it, but by the time I figure out he is not coming and lift this chair, then my body and get around things, it is too late. So, I sat and someone left a voicemail.

"Tommy, a female is calling you. I have been looking at your numbers and I am confused. Can you call me and help me figure this out?"

I had heard it when she left the message and urged him to listen. He deleted the voicemail and the telephone number! I wanted to check the number and see if it came up as a scammer. In no way do I think this was something he was doing or would get involved.

Tommy thinks I can look on the internet to see if this is a reported scammer number without the number. I think his blood sugar is too high.

Has anyone received a call like this or know of anyone who has?

  1. I get calls every day that I don't know. I do not answer if I do not know the number. Some leave a message on home phone and others leave a text on cell. I delete them all.

    1. Yes, we all get those. I delete so much communication, but they are mostly generic. Have you gotten one announcing the sex of the caller, designed to get you to answer?

  2. Sad to say in this day and age all phones are scammers until proven otherwise.

    1. Uspso,
Unless I see their name on my phone, I assume they are trying to scam me.

    1. Breenlantern,
We don't either and hang up if we accidentally answer.

  4. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know but always look them up in the reverse number directory. That will often just say "this seems to be a number from inside a large organization" but occasionally it will say that "this number has been reported as dubious/scam/telemarketing etc."! I got another email today about my computer having been hacked and they have "compromising video of my porn habit". Makes me laugh. I love it. If they had really hacked my computer they'd just see me watching gardening videos! Good for you for deleting it! I mean, "this is a FEMALE calling"????

    1. Treaders,
Usually, I get a report that this is a scam. Funny that you know for sure what you were doing. He deleted it, not me. I have been wondering about that odd phrase. I wonder if maybe that was a man trying to lure him by saying it was a female. Weird!

  5. I would delete it (as Tommy did.) Announcing that a female is calling is puzzling. It might be a scam soliciting something like phone sex.

    1. Janet,
I am sure he would be giving her money for whatever. Later, I thought the reason the caller said he/she was a female was because it was a male calling. Yes, probably phone sex.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
