Tommy's Appointment and Two Freebie Tales

I had trouble finding the doctor where Tommy received a referral. The name is hyphenated, And, I had never heard either name. I think she may be Indian. However, I only knew the first part of the last name, the way we both received a referral. My appointment is the end of June, and I made it three weeks ago. So, Tommy was given an appointment for July 5. I explained the situation, that I was fighting to keep him alive and calling 911 multiple times each week.

The receptionist immediately gave me an appointment for this week. YAY! And, there is no rain predicted. In the meantime, I will call back to try and get a sooner one for me. I was lucky because someone had just this morning cancelled a first-time appointment.

Two weeks ago, I complained to a well-known company. I have to keep the name and product a secret. Once, I told a friend about something sent me for free that I was begging to buy. This 'friend' called the company and demanded the 'free' item because they gave it to me for free. So, I cannot reveal this company. Actually, two branches of the company sent me a free item which was composed of a box x 2 of the product. I called back to explain the mix-up and how I got two boxes, a total of 24 boxes. I explained I wanted to pay. The woman I talked to was furious, saying someone called and demanded free items. I apologized, telling her I knew who it was and she was untrustworthy. The woman understood that type person.

When I was trying to buy this product, I was told it was sold in Nashville, Atlanta, New Orleans, and some place in Mississippi. Now, this product is sold in every store in this area. Once, before it expanded to this area, I was in Atlanta for a week for a business trip. A bunch of us had the shuttle van take us to a store. When I came to the register with this item, all the people with liquor were shocked, asking me how I could cook that in the room and why. I cannot tell you the product but think something like oats.

Now to the present product.

I called with three products on the table beside me and sizes and upc for each written down. I pointed out this was my all-time favorite of all brands and all flavors. I recounted my disappoint with two of the products and what I expected. One item met with complete satisfaction. She was taking copious notes and asking questions. She said all this would go to proper people. Two of the products should have been the same but weren't.

After about 15 minutes with her, she said she would replace all three. I assured her one product was perfect like I had reiterated. She insisted she would replace it too, so three coupons were coming my way. She asked again the sizes and upc. Then, she said she would send a check to reimburse me. I argued that the three coupons were plenty. She insisted, saying that they could only reimburse me $18.31 cents. I still objected but she apologized for the 'low' amount. I will never ever buy another brand besides this brand. Amazing? I received the check and am still surprised.

So, this should help cover the blouse I bought yesterday. I bought a blouse about three weeks ago. It was one size smaller than I thought I needed, but it was blousy. NO. It is too small. So, I bought what I thought was one size larger. It was falling off my shoulder and way too low. I decided I could take up the neckline since it was two sizes larger. Then, I found the blouse again in the size between the too-small blouse and the too-large blouse. Goldilocks is now happy because the new one is 'just right."

Last night, I had an ache across eyes and nose. Teeth were hurting. So, this morning I have such a sinus infection and am choking trying to swallow. I credit privet hedges. All my home remedies along with the usual allergy meds will help.

In the meantime, I am on the usual 'Tommy watch' for symptoms.

Have you ever had a manufacturer go beyond expectations to make things more than equitable?

Tell me about a 'just right' moment.

  1. Hooray on getting an appointment for Tommy this week! His diabetes seems out of control. Sometimes we have to be drama queens.

    1. Tweshooz,
I am pleased! Really, I was just stating the truth in a manner to get her attention about the seriousness. I can be a drama queen to help him.

  2. I've had a helluva two weeks. I'll spare you the yucky details, but to sum it up.. I went to get a tooth extracted, & the root got pushed up into my nose (yes, my nasal cavity!) which had to be removed by an ENT. I was awake for all of this. Ouch. I then landed in the ER with uncontrollable bleeding. All of this led to a gnarly sinus infection. I, too, have quite a bit of congestion, & I'm not allowed to blow my nose. Ugh! I'm on a very high dose of antibiotics. I'm still on the mend but likely facing more dental work in the near future. 🤧😭

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

    1. Tiffany,
Goodness gracious! How awful for you. Now, I will be more afraid of dentists than I am. Silly me keeps track of what can go wrong. I am glad you are on the mend. I wondered where you were since you comment often.
Do you take a baby aspirin daily or have you?
I am feeling much better. The other end of me is my problem right now. I ate ice cream and am suffering.

  3. I won't tell you my other dental horror stories then.. they're pretty horrific.

If you remember, I have two mechanical heart valves, so I'm on blood thinners + a daily baby aspirin. I had to go off both, bridge with Lovenox injections in my stomach, then go back on until my INR was in range.. all while trying to manage bleeding concerns. I'm not allowed to take any NSAIDs like ibuprofen & pain medications like codeine and Tramadol make me sick.. even with food. All I've been able to stomach is liquid Tylenol. Except for the dose of Fentanyl (w/ anti-nausea meds) that the ER gave me. The pain was that bad! I go back to the dentist tomorrow morning & will likely need another tooth removed from damage done to it during the extraction. I'm legit sick to my stomach thinking about it.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I have to limit my dairy intake too. If I drink any kind of milk (even skim!) I end up in a lot of pain!

    1. Tiffany,
First the milk issue. I am not allergic to milk or lactose intolerant. On my own I tried a2milk. I can drink this milk that does not have a1 protein. Try it. it may be another brand that lacks the a1 protein. The brand of my milk is--a2milk.

The dental problem. I was worried that your heart problem would prove to be difficult for you. You really go through a lot to go to dentist and get treatment. I really hate that for you. I can imagine how it would make you sick to your stomach to even think of the next dental work.

As you may remember, the right side of my heart no longer beats. I am frightened of even the most minor procedure.

    2. Tiffany, hopefully you are seeing an oral surgeon and not an ordinary dentist.

    3. @Tewshooz, yes! I saw an oral surgeon for the procedure, an ENT for the nose issue, went to the ER for excessive bleeding, to my PCP for a follow-up, to the regular dentist today to tweak my partial & back to the oral surgeon again on Friday to check how I'm healing. It's been a whirlwind trying to juggle w/ work, especially during graduation season (HigherEd).

    4. Tiffany,
That's quite an ordeal for you. Hopefully, it will all be over soon and not interfere with your work.

    1. kylie,
I am so relieved to have that appointment. The $18 check was sort of a bigger win considering I got three replacement coupons for the same products. Overall, this, so far, has been a good week.

  5. I don't think advocating for a patient is ever being a drama queen. After my experiences with my many pregnancies, my DD's and DH's experiences, I tell people to not even get a routine checkup without having an advocate on the premises! Years ago I drove my housecleaner for hand surgery...was supposed to drop her off, her mother would pick her up on discharge. I am so glad I insisted on staying for the duration, going back with her for the pre surgical consult with the nurse and surgeon, and insisting on being with her in recovery and present for discharge instructions. In the interest of privacy I will leave it there.

    1. I take Tommy in with me at every appointment now, except for pap smear. I have been told things by doctors and NPs that are really hard to believe if he did not hear them personally.
After I started taking metformin, I kept saying to doctors that I was having lots of diarrhea now. Finally, I told one doctor about the excessive diarrhea in graphic terms and how far is spread, not a pretty description. He said that was the metformin and took me off immediately!

    1. One,
Yes, it is quite a relief. I cannot wait to get something attached to him...lol. But, he comprehends nothing, so not sure he will even know what the meter means. Of course, I will have something to keep me apprised, too.

    2. Have you researched these meters online?

    3. Tweshooz,
But, I will depend on doctor to help us decide. Or, if anyone has a recommendation, I will consider that.

  7. Linda, I didn't remember that one side of your heart was no longer beating. Did this happen during the time your newer blog quit? I know I missed a lot during that time.
