Alzheimers and dementia have lately become labeled as Type 3 Diabetes. The ketogenic (keto) diet has shown great promise for treating and preventing this disease.
I think keto gets a bad reputation because of the fats. But it's more about eating whole foods, nothing processed. No grains or starches is a sticking point for a lot of people, but it's all about keeping blood sugar levels low. Grains and starches turn to sugar in the blood the same as real sugar. Reducing that blood sugar level consistently helps protect the brain and the body. There's a book "The Alzheimer's Antidote," by Amy Berger that gives a LOT of science behind why this works.
I sure hope it continues for her and her family. Only 2 documented cases says 'miracle' to me.
ReplyDeleteCheryl,
DeleteThere is hope, at least. If I were in that situation, I would take a miracle.
I'm so happy to see you back posting! I'm so sorry you've hurt your back though. I hope it is healing and mending well for you.
ReplyDeleteBelinda,
DeleteThank you. My back still hurts. Now, my ear, too.
