two guys and a....
in place
I set atop a bedspread because the bolts that hold the frame together might rip the mattress. Now, I know why the box spring has those pieces of plastic on them. I think the king bed frame had pesky things to snag the mattress. At any rate, the problem is fixed until I can get some little plastic things to cover the ends of the bolts. I had them in the cart at Lowe's and failed to buy them. I suppose I left them in the parking lot.
I have a plastic cover in order to zip this up and encase it. Now, I have to get a pad to go on top and sheets. Since I can only sleep on cotton, this will be an ordeal. I will go to the thrift store and see how long I can stand. 100% cotton and cheap will be hard to find. Maybe I will find a pink or white set of flannel sheets in cotton. Who knows.
Exbf can help me put the plastic cover on. Thanks to Michele, I have a bed to put the mattress on. I feel like I am recovering my human-ness.
By the way, this was the only flippable mattress in the store! Now, they are not made to flip from one side to the other, just to swing around and sleep on the other end. Weird?
So, who's a happy camper? ME! Thanks again, sweet blogger!
Your turn
Have you seen the price of mattresses lately? Serta Perfect feels the best, but that comfort is costly.
What happened to your old bed? Why can you ONLY sleep on cotton???
ReplyDeleteThe old bed was gone in a poof. Lots of people have problems with different fabrics. Allergies, I suppose.
DeleteWhat a wonderful gift. Truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteEC,
DeleteWonderful and amazing is true.
I need cotton, too, or I get a rash. I have to wear cotton clothes, or the eczema is terrible. Sometimes it's terrible anyway. Congratulations on your mattress. That's a lovely gift.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Janie,
DeleteYou understand! I can wear synthetic fabrics, sometimes, just not acrylic, ever. Thanks, It has been two months since I slept on a mattress. Some fabric I just rip off my body. Some has a strange smell that only I can smell. Some makes me hot or itchy or just feels awful.
I have to be very careful of what I wear. I can't ever let the end of a long sleeve get wet when I wash my hands or clean up dishes because the wet material will give me a terrible rash even though it's cotton. People who can wear anything don't understand what those of us with sensitive skin experience.
DeleteI found some nice cotton tee-shirt material sheets @ Wal-mart, very warm, softer than flannel. We love them.
ReplyDeleteParker,
DeleteThose are sold enough, so I might ought to check them out. Grandson says they are hot, and I am hot natured, too. I just never considered them after he said that. Thanks for the reminder.
Enjoy! Sleep well tonight!
ReplyDeletemhart,
DeleteThank you. I am sure I will.
This is wonderful. Maybe you will start feeling better with finally decent rest each night. God bless the mattress buyer.
ReplyDeleteSissy,
DeleteI am sure I will sleep more soundly and feel less pain in the morning.
Those t shirt sheets ARE HOT but they are stretchy and stay on the bed nicely.
ReplyDeleteI am half way mattress shopping. Our mattress is one of those that you are unable to flip. It is over 20 years old and if either of us want to cuddle one of us has to climb the mountain to reach the other. Through the years our bed has grown to fit our shapes and weight. While I would like a new mattress it is honestly low on my wants list. Neither of us are uncomfortable even though it becoming unsightly! You have generous readers!
Janet,
DeleteHOT I cannot stand. I want warm and cuddly in a sheet, not hot.
Climb the mountain...lol. Well, I get to sleep in the middle.
If neither of you is uncomfortable, I suppose you don't need a mattress.
Yes, I do have generous readers.
Thanks for the confirmation that those t-shirt ones are hot.
That is awesome. Hope you slept well.
ReplyDeleteI did, absolutely!
DeleteMichele has been wanting to come see you for a long time. I'm so glad she made it, and her kids? They just jump in and DO whatever needs done. And their daybed frame now holds a new mattress. You said you were slipping it into a plastic cover. I'm afraid you will always be hot, no matter how much you pile on top of the plastic. It reflects body heat through everything. I've tried to protect mattresses in the past by doing the same thing and realized I had no choice but to remove the plastic or I would never be cool again.
ReplyDeleteI have slept with a plastic, zipper mattress cover since 1980 with no problem. The quilted mattress pad is the same age. Cotton sheets may be why I do not get inordinately hot. It probably does hold the heat, but in winter that is not a good thing.
DeleteKeeping the mattress from being an allergy problem is my goal. Now, I have gotten too much cover on in the winter and was flinging it off until I cooled down.
I had a renter who kept taking the mattress cover off, saying he was hot.
Wow, that's a great gift! How kind. We need a new mattress too. I hope you sleep well!!
ReplyDeleteLL Cool Joe,
DeleteIt was a great kindness, bed and mattress. Save up for the mattress! I did sleep very well.
Check your email. I'd be happy to get you some 100% cotton sheets and send them to you. Just need to know the mattress size (twin, or is there some special day bed size) and confirm your address.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift! I know you're thrilled. This is what the holiday should be about...caring for others.
