Christmas Gifts for Less

Sharon's gift

For my dil's birthday, I had no idea what to get. I found this pretty bracelet at Belk's that was $28 marked down to $5. I think I have seen pictures of her in this color. This is one long chain with elastic threaded through the links. I know this because I broke my "Lemon Drop" bracelet like this. Mine is yellow. Tomorrow, I will mail it--free postage.

While I was there, I saw another bracelet for $4 that was originally $18. This bracelet even has a spring. That is probably just one thing for the kids to break. I won't send this until I have all their gifts and will put them in one box to mail.

Buying like this, on sale, with coupon, and using my Belk store credit card made the prices drop. While I was there, I paid enough to cover the amount I spent. I just hope they suit her.

I am wearing an eye patch/cover and am not wearing my glasses. Typing like this is hard, cannot see the keys or the letters I type!

Your turn
Do you shop sales for gifts? Do you look for coupons to use during the sale? Does your store credit card, if you have one, ever lower prices even more?

  1. I shop anywhere for gifts. Several years ago I found a 14K three color gold necklace at a yard sale, brand new in a presentation box with the chain in a tiny envelope, for $2. I snatched it up and gave it to my 19 yr old niece for Christmas - she was thrilled.
I've bought vintage scatter pins at a thrift store for my sister and akso gift baskets brand-new for neighbors. I also have bought baskets, boxes, containers to use for gift presentation. Even tho I might fill them with teas bought on sale or homemade breads, cookies or candies they look really impressive and the cost is never more than $1.
Remember - it's the thought that counts not the price tag - unless of course it's for someone who feels opposite.

    1. Bellen,
You are a woman after my own heart. I have stopped at so few sales due to my back and knees. That was a steal for you to give to your niece. My kids don't care about price or origin. I care about getting it right for each person. I just hope she wears bracelets for church or something.

  2. I buy gifts anywhere and everywhere - and have a huge weakness for some hand-made markets held here on weekends.

    1. EC,
I cannot shop our craft shows and stay out of shops because they don't have electric carts. Neither does Belk's. so once in a while I suffer and hang onto a tiny shopping cart, unlike a grocery store shopping cart. I have to walk straight in and straight out, no browsing.

  3. Definitely, I shop the sales on gifts! The other thing I do is buy well in advance.

I agree with the idea that it is the thought that counts. I'd rather find something the receiver will love, at any price.

  4. I shop sales as often as I can! Although when it comes to gifts I usually have something specific in mind I want to buy and look for a way to get it cheaper.

    1. tlc,
I just don't know what to get her. I gave her an umbrella last year. That's lame, but I suppose everyone can use and umbrella. I wanted a specific thing for two grandchildren, but that item is NEVER on sale. Most things are gotten like you said--find it cheaper.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
