"I Found a Rock"

People in Walmart heard me as I gasped with surprise while saying this. Then, I had to explain about painting on rocks from Lorraine's blog. The other day, I found a rock painting site on the internet for this town. Sooo, now I have a painted rock.

It is only about 1 1/2 inches long. about the size of my first joint on my thumb. I think a child painted this little rock. Maybe it was a non-painter adult. This was such a surprise to find on a shelf in Walmart!

I cannot post a picture, but some day, I will.

Your turn
Do you paint rocks? Have you heard of this popular activity with many websites for the painters. Have you ever found a painted rock? Where? Do I need to post this so the child will know it was found and appreciated?

  1. Good day!

I am conducting a poll across Alabama - are you interested in YEC material?

  2. Yes, painting rocks is very big in this area. Local website is loaded with pictures of rocks painted and then hidden. I sometimes think that it has gotten too big as many painters are leaving upwards of 24 rocks every week. Someone even left a basket of rocks at the police station hoping they would hide them while out and about. One of the library branches had a rock painting session for kids and they were encouraged to leave them in the library and other places they really like.

My grandson, visiting from CT, found one in a local park and rehid it. He's 10 and thought it was 'really cool'. I did post it on line so the painter could see it was found and appreciated.

    1. I only heard about the local group by accident. This is the first one I have found. AND, I am keeping it for awhile, anyway. I will have to be on the lookout for other information around here. Glad your grandson found one!

    1. Jennifer,
I only know about this from We Are Clamco on my sidebar. I would have ignored the rock or thought a child had lost it if it had not been for Lorainne.

  4. Cool! Well, see now? Think about how excited you were to find that rock and it wasn't anything fancy, right? So there you go. You don't have to be an "artist" to paint rocks and make someone's day. You should try and make a few. It's fun and very relaxing. :-)

    1. Clamco/Lorraine,
Okay, I will try. I think I will see what kind of paint pens I have around here. I certainly won't be signing them!

  5. I don't remember when I got the idea, but I use red nail polish to paint a heart on a rock to leave at a loved one's grave. Make me feel like I'm leaving a part of myself.

  6. We paint rocks at my office, a local women's centre. Then in April, we take part in a memorial walk (Rehtaeh Parson's) who was gang raped at a party, the teenage boys were never brought to justice, and she sadly committed suicide because of the flack that she constantly had to take from her peers in school (and the 3 other schools she moved to). Anyway, we paint the rocks and put on encouraging/uplifting messages and leave the rocks along the way on our memorial walk. So yes, I'm always scanning the ground for good rocks. Hahaha.

    1. Sandy,
That is a sad story. But, we live in a rape culture and endure rape signs, even laughing sometimes. Painting rocks with encouraging words is a great idea. Just my luck I would bend to get a rock and tumble fast first. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the story.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
