The parking lot was practically empty. For a Friday night the store was strangely quiet. And, I found an electric cart that was full of juice. Most of the carts were at the door. At 6 pm on a Friday night, I rarely find even one electric cart.
I went there to get a prescription refill and an inhaler since I have been wheezing for three days. No refills there and too soon for the antibiotic refill.
I cruised the sales. All the towels and printers were gone. But, I was going to get neither. I did get two $1.96 DVDs. I forgot what they are. I was wheezing and too feverish to look further.
That's it. No drama. No purchases except the two videos. No food. Nothing.
What did you buy? Or, did you just avoid it all?
Have only shopped one Black Friday about 30 years ago - never again. We did go to WM to get a free Redbox movie about 6:30pm yesterday - the parking lot was full with people walking in and out at about the same rate. No one was at the Redbox so it was very quick for me.
ReplyDeleteNewspaper stories today told of a woman and an employee being knocked down at one of the other WM's in the area but she still prevailed at getting what she wanted. Was it worth it? My answer would be no.
Hope you're feeling better - a productive cough is very good no matter what the color :)
Bellen,
DeleteRedbox was not busy last night. No, getting knocked down would not be worth getting something I wanted! I hear the towels are where the fights occur. I am working on keeping production going.
Black Friday is taking off here in the UK too, I did go to the stores but at 8.30pm knowing the shop closed at 9.00pm. The perfect time, it was very quiet and I just picked up something I'd reserved 2 days before and left. I tend to be a very focused shopper. I go in and get what I need and leave, I never browse.
ReplyDeleteLL Cool Joe,
DeleteBeing focused works best. And going just before the stores close is always best.
I never even looked at a flyer. It was kind of nice. I'm sure that I missed everything that I need though. LOL
ReplyDeleteSonya Ann,
DeleteAn employee gave me a flyer, but it was of little interest except for the prices. Yes, you missed stuff you will never miss at WM.
I try to avoid stores from Thanksgiving until after Xmas.
ReplyDeleteSnowbrush,
DeleteWho buys groceries?
I knew a man who boasted he had not been in a retail store in ten years--mall, grocery store, clothing shop. I asked him who bought his underwear and food. Oh, was he sheepish when he declared his girlfriend did. lol
Love you snowbrush!
Ditto! I was in Myrtle Beach visiting my little sister and family- no one at WalMart! I asked 2 different sales gals if they minded working Black Friday and they both told me NO! They said they had heard the WM website crashed a few times so guess everyone was at home ordering online. You seem like such a nice woman- I hope you have a great 2016 with lots of good luck.
ReplyDeleteNan,
DeleteI guess people get all spent out what with getting up at the crack of midnight or standing/sleeping in line all night.
Thank you! I am! I think I need luck in 2016.
I looked at the sales and didn't think there was anything amazing. Most stores started their black Friday sales earlier in the week. I never go out shopping but will shop online on black Friday. I Did reserve the girls birthday party for next fall. I already know where they want to have it and the place was offering free pizza and drinks for 25 kids if I put $50 down when reserving a party on black Friday. I've been watching for one last toy to go on sale that my daughter asked Santa for and was disappointed that it wasn't on sale this weekend.
ReplyDeleteM Ripples,
DeleteI really did want a $2000 refrigerator and a new upright freezer. But, that won't be happening! It took me long enough to get a washing machine!
Just think, they are using your money for a year and earning interest. But, you got it nailed down and a freebie, so that's something.
Don't wait until the toy is gone. Good for your looking for a bargain instead of rushing out to buy.
