New Shoes and New Gadget

J came over to help me and brought me a pair of SAS sandals that fit and suit me. They are a dark gold, not shiny and bright. I would not have chosen this color but it goes with what I wear. They are something I needed to go to church or a dressy event.

These shoes must have been worn once. The edge of the heel shows minimal use, not even wear. They may have only been tried on in the store because the soles and the rest of the heel is pristine or maybe they were only worn on carpet! There is not a sign of a bend mark on the top. There is no sign of a foot on the insole. Works for me.

She also gave me an E-reader. It is not backlit, so that makes me happy. My computer friend said I would still need light to read. That works for me, too. He assured me it was a very nice item. J's friend said it worked.

This woman gave J many nice and cute clothes. I have some clothing to give to J or she can donate them. J asked one day if I had clothes that did not fit anymore. She gained weight and needs clothing. Since she is 29 and has thought my tops were cute, I suppose she thinks this old lady has good tastes or youngish tastes. Really, I dress for my age.

It appears I posted twice in a few minutes, so I clawed back one and will post it in 24 hours.

Your turn
Are you ever the recipient of electronics, clothing, or good stuff? I was given an Ipad last fall, really nice and unexpected.

  1. Lucky you. I don't remember the least time I was given clothing. And am Ipadless and e-readerless.

    1. EC,
This clothing event is so rare that I posted it out of sheer joy! The shoes actually fit and felt good! Two minor miracles occurred right there.

I did not want the Ipad or ereader. My computer was not working right, so a blogger sent me the Ipad and suddenly I wanted one. It is a very nice one with a super nice cover. J just handed me the ereader and said, "Here. I figured you would like this." Well, yes I would.

Maybe something will come your way.

  2. I have an ipad but I had to buy it since no one gave it to me. I don't have many things passed on to me, but I did get Mom's meat slicer that Dad had bought and never used.

    1. Anne,
The offer of the Ipad was a complete surprise. It was when I was without a computer or having problems with the one I had. I can say I don't have many things passed on to me either. Exbf was given his sofa, recliner, kitchen table and chairs, coffeemaker, microwave and a tv. His bedroom furniture is from his parents who died when he was young. He said he never hinted or mentioned anything, just was offered things. Must be nice.

OH, I offered him an office chair I was never going to use again, nice, expensive one. Plus, he took a computer desk I was throwing out. I gave him an old coffeemaker I offered and a lamp he asked for. I had a dozen lamps to redo and it was no big deal as I will never redo lamps again.

My daybed and mattress are the only pieces of furniture ever given to me and that was lately.

  3. No, I'm usually the one giving things away! I like to go to thrift stores but never find anything but books that I read and return to be recycled. I love used things though.

    1. NAN,
I am usually the one giving things away, too. Since I have enough books to read, I don't even go for books. Well, standing and shopping aren't my thing anymore. Thrift stores are wonderful.

  4. Not recently, as I tend to be the one giving things away, but as a teen all through college, and then as young adult, when we lived fairly close to each other, my best friend used to let me go through her bags of castoff clothing, and vice versa. As we are both quite petite, it was great!
I know of a family who send bags of castoff kids' clothes to siblings on the east coast who have younger kids, and the bag then makes its way west again for the even younger kids in the family. I love the thought of that.

    1. Meg,
Trading clothes like that is great! My friends were either shorter or heavier, sometimes both. That is a long distance exchange, but it obviously works well for them.

  5. You know, I now swear by SAS shoes, even though it means only one pair a year. My feet thank me. And now I only use my tablet, no laptop. Sooo much easier. Enjoy your gifts. I am decluttering now!

    1. Barbara,
On the internet these are $125, so it will mean only one pair per year for me, too!

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
