Fancy Just Died

When I quit crying I will tell you.

  1. Oh Linda, I am so sorry. We have had a couple of chooks where we have had to push things back in but it kept happening and eventually the chook died anyway. Last time the Son in law despatched the chook right at the start. Better for me and her.
But ours were 1 of lots and not well loved pets like fancy was. I know you must be heartbroken.
    Take care.

    Barb.

  4. Oh no, I'm very sorry to read this. She was obviously very loved; you should take some comfort in knowing you tried everything you could.

  8. Barb,
I might be sad if one of the other three died, but this is heartbreaking.

    LindaM,
    I need a hug.

    Rae,
I hope Affie girl stays well for a long time.

    Hops,
Yes, I tried my best. I hated myself for not having the money or even being willing to spend it if I were wealthy.

    Patty,
    "Heartsick" I am.

There is another post for morning, I will write about her last few hours and moments tomorrow and post on Friday. It rips my heart out and I cry when I try to write about her today. As you can see in the other post today where exbf is holding her, she died hearing a song, a story, and being cuddled. Tommy, Mark, and Sean were here and talked to her today as she sat in her cage.Tony, my neighbor who took Arabella was sorry to her she died.

  9. I just caught up with your little butterballs ailments. It's difficult to lose the ones we love, and especially when we try so hard to turn the tide back.

I had a chicken die with something which sounded similar. The smell was the trigger to let me know something was up, otherwise she did very well to hide any sickness from me.

As LindaM said, you tried your best and that's all we can do with our animal husbandry skills. We always buried the ones we were closest to, under a fruit tree. So that every year when they flowered, we remember that life still goes on. It's a little sadness mixed with a little happiness. :)

I feel sorry for your loss. I know with us, we ran it past our heads so many times, if only we tried something else, if only we discovered it sooner, if only...then you realise, you did everything you were capable of doing and you can only say goodbye.

Hugs and cuddles from one chicken mama to another.
