Sardines and Mobility Scooter Search

Sunday was about the same as the last week. No sleep on Saturday, just Sunday. I got none of my calls done.

I wanted to see the special with Tom Hanks narrating, but I needed to sleep as my eyes were closing. I slept. I wanted to see the Grosse Point Garden Club or something like that. I could not keep my eyes open once again. I actually did watch part of the special. I wanted to watch the news and slept through it.

Tommy woke me and told me it was almost six just like I told him. I just lay there. Finally, he came back and I asked him why he wanted me to get up so early. He told me the special that I wanted to watch at 6pm was coming on. Once again, I got the time wrong.

This is driving me crazy.

Finally, I made a call to Amazon about issues with orders. I got a woman in the Philippines who seemed incapable of speaking slowly except when she said, "I'm sorry" when I stopped her to slow down. It was torture! I need to get someone in the US to help me straighten out the problems she caused. I was too exhausted to try to get her to slow down.

I had tackled the easiest issue! Have you found that Amazon service is less efficient and more confusing lately?

How about this scooter? Anyone ever used this or knows anything about it? discovermymobility.com

Today, I did not have my banana! I just ate more apple. I have been craving sardines! Do you like sardines? My favorite brand is POSSUM. What is your favorite?

  1. I have never used Amazon's phone service. Just their message/email to fix issues and have never had any problems. Right now I have some outlet covers to return. I messaged the seller and they just emailed back that they will send out a different set. Hopefully you can get it straightened out.

  2. Walmart had sardines on clearance for 74 cents when I was there the other day, which was a pretty good deal. The scooters are nice. I've tried twice to get one before my knee surgery and it just never worked out. No worries though as my knee replacement is helping me to fix my mobility.

    1. Belinda,
The same scooters in that ad? If I had back surgery, I would still need one.

    2. Not the same ones in that ad, but others. It's a lot of work and red tape, unfortunately. I wish you better luck with yours.

    3. Belinda,
A lot of red tape to get a scooter? How so? I thought just pay for it and get it and use it. I am confused.

  3. I brought three tins of sardines to Palm Springs; I love them so! I eat them on holiday - usually by myself and far apart from the others.

    1. Urspo,
Three whole tins! My child had a teacher who brought a tin of sardines for lunch every day and ate them in the cafeteria with her class and other teachers. It didn't bother me, but I wondered why people did not complain. I eat them at home to avoid problems.

  4. I've never used a mobility scooter, nor have I ever obtained one for someone else, so can't comment on a specific kind. However, to comment on what Belinda said, she may be referring to getting insurance to pay for it. That would complicate things since you would probably have to have a doctor certify a medical need and the insurance may require you to use a specific company. Anyway, just my thoughts.

    1. Meg,
I NEED Amazon. You are fully mobile.

    2. Yeah, I get that. So do this: After you click place order, fill your cart again with similarly priced items, and leave it until the next time you shop. Then, delete all you put in your cart, and shop again, rinse and repeat.
Does your local grocery store do delivery? Even fully mobile people LOVE that service here. Or, there’s pickup. You park in a designated spot, text the number and your stuff gets put in your car for you.
(Personally, I don’t imagine I would like this as it doesn’t let me, say, pick out my produce, or take advantage of in store specials.)
I have a group of about women, myself included, who will shop for the housebound in our community at no charge. We figure we are making the drive to town anyway.

    3. Meg,
That is foolish to fill the cart and empty it. So, you think I just like shopping?
I understand how all these work, but I want to pick out produce, milk, bread and bananas.

    4. Meg, how does filling your Amazon cart and then abandoning it create a hardship for the company?

    5. It upsets their algorithm, among other things.

    6. Meg, you're not "upsetting their algorithm" as much as you think. In 2023, they processed over 16 million orders PER DAY. Your cart antics have zero impact.

    7. All acts of resistance start out small! Anyway , they aren’t getting a penny from me this year. If anyone in our community needs someone to run to Kroger for them, my fiends and I have them covered, gratis.

  6. Frances,
Okay, I understand. I would have no trouble getting a doctor to say I need one. However, the house has to be inspected first.

  7. My husband has a Pride Go Go sport mobility scooter that can be taken apart and put in out car. It works great. I am in Canada. You can buy it outright or have a PT assess your need and the government pays 75%. They also regulate the prices of the scooters.

    1. Ruth,
Thanks for the review. Here, someone must come to your home and make sure you can get it in the bathroom and bedroom, so the doors are what they assess more than the person, it seems. They don't care, it seem, if the person would like to get outside the house, in the yard, in a store. I will check that out. Thanks, again.

    2. My husband uses one because of breathing issues when mobile , but he uses a walker in the house. It fits through our doors but wouldn't have enough room to maneuver in our bathroom.

    3. Ruth,
My father could have used one because he had to stop halfway to bathroom and catch his breath. He loved the electric carts in Kroger's. He told me about finding them. Then, he said he could 'shop the Hell' out of the store.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
