I don't try to manage other people. I do manage my DH & kids to some extent, but they still need a firm, guiding hand to stop doing stupid stuff that annoys me.
I don't pay much attention to what's going on in government. I did my best by voting; now I'll leave the rest to the other elected officials who can block his nonsense. Is my exasperation with Trump's dumbass plans to acquire Gaza going to help shape the course of destiny? Obviously not. So let the chips fall where they may. They're not my chips.
I work on improving my corner of the world. I try to be nice and polite to everyone I encounter, I try to keep my house clean and put good food on the table. I try to shop carefully and not waste money. I try to purge rather than acquire. I want this to be my year of planting perennial flowers, so there's more beauty.
I'm not involving anyone else in my plans, so I don't project anything onto anyone else. I mind my business. Would that everyone else did, too.
Drat. I want to read it but don’t care to download the Slate app. (My laptop decided to implode and I just haven’t had the wherewithal to get myself to Costco and get a new one.) Based on the title, though, I think it’s probably spot on. Remember, I am in a plaintiff state (Blue)which has filed suit against many EO’s, including the impoundment of funds. (FYI, the subsequent block of the freeze from EO only applies to plaintiff states. I guess Red states have to suffer in silence.) I know our brilliant AG is working non stop to protect us here. I know some of his staff, and they are holding strong, but I also know that the point is to exhaust us. If you were to do the math and calculate their hourly rate, you would realize these people would be making easily quadruple, if not more, what they are making in the AG’s office. Yet, they fight. Eyes and ears open. Stay safe. -Meg
Of course not, Linda. Project 2025 is well underway. Watch “Bad Faith.” And then try to sleep at night. The belief is that white Christian men deserve preferential treatment and a position of authority in this country. May the guardrails hold… -Meg B.
While true Alabama is a red state, I hope you are peaking in hyperbole Linda. The current law is that the Ten Commandments are allowed in public schools if they are mixed with historical or other educational displays. There is no law mandating it to be in every school, and individual school systems can decide if they want it or not. Louisiana might be the state you are thinking of.
Anne, This is a Bill being introduced. I wondered how this passed and I was just now aware of it. "The bill would require..." "must display" There will be no choice!
Years ago we were in Oregon when Roy Moore was in the news. All I could say when asked was that I had never voted for him and didn’t know anyone who did.
I did read it. I’m steering clear of talk about the president at this time. I hope you are doing well, Linda.

I am in a red state! Now, we must have the Ten Commandments in every school. Roy Moore started all this. Will we have plaques from other religions?

As of right now the bill has not passed. Do I doubt it will? No, and do I think there will be legal challenges? Yes
ReplyDeleteAnne,
DeleteI just remember Judge Roy Moore and the fiasco back then.

ReplyDeleteAnne, I lived in Cullman and knew people who did. But, of course, I never did.
