Saturday and Saturday night did not go any better than Friday and Friday night. We got nothing done on Saturday. Leftovers were plentiful and delicious, So there were no problems to finding tasty and nutritious meals, not just eating whatever.
I had a short talk with Tommy about not getting two important calls made. He said if he could get enough sleep during the night, he could get up earlier. The problem also is that I cannot get to sleep during the night, so I need to do things early before I am punchy.
Sitting on the bed to talk does not work and there is no other sitting place I can use anywhere in the house to make a long phone call. Now that he knows what is going on, I will just use the phone even though he is asleep. He knows these calls involve money, lots of money. I never wake sleeping people, so this makes me feel like a mean, unfeeling person. I told him he could take a long nap if I caused him to get up too early. I am only talking about 10 am!
Saturday, I got up at 7 pm, too late to go to store or pharmacy. He was rattling around getting his dinner. So, we both have to work on this problem. Otherwise, nothing will ever be accomplished around here.
I need to make this. Chicken and Ducklings Will you try this?
It seems the roach treatment that works well had been discontinued. That is disappointing. It seems that happens too often--find a favorite in any category and it disappears! My favorite bra disappeared, followed by favorite shoe along with many other items. Has this ever happened to you too many times?
I feels that way: I like something and it doesn't last. Possibly a negative bias: I remember these but not the ones that stay
ReplyDeleteOf course you don't remember the ones that stay. "How can I miss you if you don't go away." You can just go to the store and get your old favorite.
ReplyDeleteI have a soap, one of the only ones I can use without a reaction, that is now hard to find. I had to order a case from Amazon. But now I am boycotting Amazon so I guess I will have to figure something else out. There is also a deodorant that one of the kids liked which has not been discontinued, just changed. Very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI have no compunction about waking sleeping people if I have to deal with the ramifications of them sleeping through something. I have a kid who would come home from school (which started at 7:40 a.m.,) immediately take a nap, sleeping through dinner, then stay up until all hours at night, making him all but impossible to wake in the morning for school, rinse and repeat. After a week or so of that bs, we banned him from sleeping in the afternoon, and were none too kind if he would nod off. He is still a night owl, but as I don’t have to get him up in the mornings anymore, I don’t care. His sleep schedule has caused him to miss a few things he knew were going on, which have been met with the “why didn’t anybody wake me” whine, but I won’t hear it. I am NOT sympathetic when people can’t manage to get to where they need to get for no good reason than they slept through it because they wouldn’t get themselves to bed at a decent hour the night before.
What kind of soap is it?
DeleteI am not talking about waking kids. I had a daughter who needed about twelve hours of sleep. I still had to wake her for school, but she woke up with a smile, so she was not actually disturbed.
Basis soap. The white, not clear bar. I haven’t found anything else that doesn’t irritate me at some point.
DeleteI have seen Basis. I use Dove original bar. My dermatologist asked me what soap I used after skin complaints. When I said Dove, he heartily approved. When I told him I did not rinse it off, he said that was fine, no need to rinse. However, I bought Dove at a cheap store. It stunk and made me itch. After a little detective work, I found it was not same formula and not manufactured in US.
DeleteMeg, the white bar Basis face soap is available at Walmart & Target in my neck of the woods. Might want to check for your location...
DeleteDove makes my skin incredibly itchy.
Bar soap is banned in my house. Gooey melting bars are the Devil. And it's hard enough to keep shower surround/pan clean without adding soap scum to the mix. No scum with liquid soap.
Sue,
DeleteI have never had that much trouble with soap goo. I think using only Dove helped. Tommy did manage to destroy a bar of Dove last week, break it and reduce it to lots of sludge. He swears he did not.
Sue, thank you. I still have about 6 bars in my bathroom closet, though. It’s a good thing, because I am not stepping foot in either of the two stores you mentioned anytime soon!
DeleteLinda, the Dove fragrance, mild as it is, triggers migraines. I am so afraid of trying anything new!
The chicken and dumplings recipe sounds delicious, but I am totally annoyed that there is no photo to specifically showcase the "ducklings". Why publish a recipe with a twist when you can't be bothered with a proper pic? Dumb and LAZY journalism, Josh Miller and Southern Living. FEH!
ReplyDeleteThat said, I may well try it. I have some buttermilk to use up, and I planned on making chicken soup anyway. If I am making dumplings, I usually use my mother's German-style recipe. But Southern-style would be a fun change. Although I am NOT making "ducklings"!
Changes I will make is to add garlic or shallots to the broth and to add seasonings to the dumpling dough. I find them too bland, so I add pepper, garlic & onion powder, and Italian seasoning to elevate the flavor.
Yes, I am forever disappointed that favorite products are discontinued (or changed for the worse!). Face lotions, hair styling, clothing lines, etc. Oh well. Change is the only constant, right? LOL.
Sue,
DeleteI have no idea why they had no pictures of duck dumplings...lol. The article made me want chicken and dumplings. I like dumplings just like Mama made them.
When I am warned things will disappear, I stock up. Dove bar soap made in Germany stinks!
