I tried Coca Cola Orange Cream

steps 10,300

IT'S GROSS!

I tasted it once and made a horrible face. Tommy  tried it and did not like it, either. I decided to give it a second chance. It was still horrible. Tommy wondered how it would taste with vanilla ice cream in it. I don't care. The problem is--I like to mix orange juice and Coke!!

We had no slush yesterday, not even a flake. The temperature is in the mid 20s and going lower. This Wednesday night will be frigid.

We collected the ads, even though I had not slept a second on Tuesday night or all day on Wednesday.

We bought Romaine, blueberries, sweet potatoes, garlic. I was feeling so horrible that we got Whopper, jr for each of us. At home, Tommy scrubbed the sweet potatoes, and I trimmed and oiled them for the oven. Then, I went to bed for a nap. I was willing to sleep for the rest of the night. But, I had no such luck.

I did manage to do my steps, the only thing besides shopping in Publix.

Dinner for Tommy: sweet potato, turnip greens from can, leftover ground beef. I had a cup of sweet potato from jacket.

My Whopper, Jr. had no lettuce, so they handed me two huge slices. I considered that part of my vegetable consumption.

I am grateful for a warm bed tonight. How about you?

Have you tried the orange cream Coke? Do you like it?

  1. I’m grateful for my warm bed tonight too. Did you know that Wednesday is Whopper Day at Burger King and they are only $3.99? I really wondered about the orange Coke. Is it orange only or does it have coke mixed in? Lots of wondering. I’m so glad you told us what you thought of it, so now I don’t have to wonder. 😂

  2. Always grateful for a warm bed and home.
I won't be trying the drink - I can't imagine orange and coke together. Blech!

    1. Cheryl,
Cold nights make me especially grateful for warm bed.
Orange juice and coke work. Orange cream and Coke does not work.

  3. I bought one yesterday to try. I figured the grands and I could split the one, so it would be OK if none of us liked it. At least I wouldn't be out four drinks.

I do appreciate a warm bed and house! It's currently 11 with a 'feels like' temperature of 2 here in south central KY.

    1. Alice,
Splitting is always a good idea for a new flavor. This one was something like $2.89! So, have you tried it? Did anyone like it? Let me know in a reply when you do. Tommy and I are always willing to split things to see if it works for us.
That is cold. It is 22 and feels 3 here in Birmingham.

  4. I don't drink soda - but that sounds awful, LOL.

  5. I can’t bear most soda, with the rare exception of the odd fountain Diet Coke. And while I enjoy drinking it at the time, I always feel poorly afterwards. I can’t imagine putting Coke in orange juice, but I am sure teetotalers wouldn’t understand putting Champagne in orange juice, yet we can’t have Christmas without mimosas!
I have yet to understand the American love affair with soda. Even as a kid we didn’t drink it much except as the odd treat, as we were taught it was poison. As for your drink, I am shuddering thinking of it! I also picture the look in the face of one of my kids when he tried a Yoo Hoo!
In any case, we won’t be buying any Coke products anytime soon!

    1. Tommy made a similar face to mine. We rarely had a Coke growing up. Parents bought a six pack of 6 oz cokes in a bottle and gave us each a half Coke, three whole ounces!

It is the burn in the throat!

  6. Linda, I thought you Southerners drank Co'Cola all the time! And Meg, YooHoo is absolutely disgusting.

I have not been drinking Diet Coke for the last 9 days. I love it but it really doesn't slake my thirst. I am trying to go off it.

I switched to lightly flavored seltzer--Black Cherry-- with no fake sugar additives. I still get the needles-and-razor-blades thrill of drinking it (you know what I'm talking about, Linda!). But yeah, diet drinks are bad. They really mess with your intestinal flora.

I have tried diet sodas with Stevia, and they are not too bad. But honestly? Not too great, either. And they're just too expensive in the long run. I guess if I get a serious craving for DC I will buy some of the stevia stuff.

    1. Sue,
What did I say that made you think we do not drink Coke? I am puzzled.
I don't drink Coke for thirst. I drink water for that, too. I drink it because I love or because I just crave a blast in my throat.
Coke has nothing with stevia, so I don't drink it. I only like cola, so no fruity things.

    2. Sorry for the confusion. I was talking about the teeny bit of coke you were allowed as a child.

    3. Sue,
I was not allowed. There were six ounces in a bottle, kids and parents had to share the six-pack.

  7. PS: Oh! Coke with Orange. Sounds gross. I love trying new things, but not that.

In other forgotten news, the Tepache is done! It does not have great carbonation (my house is too cold). But the flavor is very good! Mild pineapple with a vaguely citrusy essence. It's just delicious over ice. Not too sweet, not terribly tart. I will have to get some plain seltzer and try mixing it up. Oh, and it would be SO good with blanco tequila!

I consider the experiement a success, and will certainly be making more.

    1. I thought I replied to this once.
It's great the Tepache turned out okay. Let me know how it does in warmer weather. I thought it should taste like pineapple with the core fermenting.

  8. it looks bad but I shouldn't judge until I try it

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
