Ten Most Toxic Items at Dollar Stores

Many people on a budget use dollar stores to buy items in an attempt to keep their budget under control. However, the toxins present in many items could lessen your child's IQ and damage body organs. The Dollar Tree is popular for cost cutting.

Here is a good news/bad news article. Here is an article that is from 2010, but I am quite sure the food facts are still true.

  2. There are many 'dollar' stores and quiet a few other stores that sell low priced items such as Save-a-lot and Big Lots. I never buy kids' toys at any of them, nor medicines, vitamins, cosmetics.

I do buy greeting cards at 2/$1, tissue paper, Sudoku books, and hubby buys name brand candy bars and soda.

Save-a-lot seems to carry many off brands of food which people I've talked to say are fine. I buy very little processed food so I can't say. I stick to name brands and store brands from stores I trust, even Walmart.

Big Lots often has name brand furniture at remarkably low prices but since every manufacturer has several lines at different price levels it's hard to say if there is a savings.

So, I guess what I'm getting at is Buyer Beware!!

I tend to think Dollar Stores are toxic in general and should be avoided.

    1. Ur-spo,
      Same here!
Dollar General does have identical items, such as milk, that seem okay. However, I have never bought any. It has been over a year since I have been in any $$$ store.
