Stevia Plant

Bought in June

I bought the last plant in June. I have excuses as to why I let it deteriorate: sinus infection for two weeks, rain forever, and Charlie took it out of the pot I had it in! Why!!!!!!

End of July

Today, I finally repotted it, severely pruning it to get rid of dead parts. I could not put it in a good spot to photograph because I would be shooting into the sunset. My back had a good three minutes and then I was in severe pain. So, this picture is it. After this picture I watered it well with tap water. Catching rain water or ac water for watering because of chlorine and fluoride in tap water is the next step.

One day, I took a leaf and chewed it. The leaf was weirdly sweet with a real bite. Exbf spit his out immediately and with great disgust.

Now, I have to figure out how to feed it and what to do next. I have read a lot on the Internet, but need anyone's personal experiences.

Your turn
Have you ever raised stevia? Successfully? Any tidbits of advice?

    1. Harry,
It is a sweetener that does not mess up metabolism and is not artificial. Truvia and Nuvia both use it and add sugar. Don't buy that. If there is any other ingredient besides stevia, you are looking at the wrong thing.

A friend brought stevia to my home before a party and allowed me to put it in lemonade. I used 1/8 tsp in a gallon of lemonade. People said it was too sweet!

    2. What I have used is a fine, white powder.

  3. I bought pure granulated stevia after my poor stevia plant died. I am not sure what I did wrong. The stevia is extremely sweet. I always use much less than everyone says is needed.

    1. I know I can revive this plant, but not sure if it will survive the winter, even indoors. The amount of Truvia needed is much more than the amount needed of pure stevia. I suppose it is like some people use more sugar in their coffee or tea than others.

It is a mystery as to where my container of stevia has gone. I thought it was just lost, pushed behind something, but it's not there...lol. So, I plan to buy more when I have enough reasons to drive 50 miles.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
