9,999 steps
Tommy said he thought it was 20 miles one way. Then, when he checked the odometer, it was a 32-mile one way trip. So, 64 miles trip to get Victoza. You would think that starting 4 weeks ago to get this refill would be long enough.
My scales had 'low' message instead of weight when I stepped on the platform. I changed the batteries and still got nothing, no message at all. I was set to buy another. Finally, three days later, Tommy did something and saved us having to buy another. I could not find the same one on Amazon, where I got the first. My weight is at the same low as before--32 lb. loss.
Tommy saw our neighbor going into The Pig as he was coming out. Tommy said, "What's happening?" Neighbor said, "To Hell with the milk. I came for beer!"
I slept poorly last night, although it was more than eight hours. I took a Melatonin on Friday night, and I have noticed it causes disturbed sleep. I didn't take any for a year. I think I will quit again. I don't have nightmares like some people report. My response has to it has changed.
Now, I have to go hang up wet laundry.
I can only take 1mg of Melatonin. Any more, and it disturbs my sleep. I take it with L-Theanine, and a cup of Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea (with honey). I can sleep pretty well -- although, it's never solid sleep (I always wake up for some period of time in the night).
ReplyDeleteI will see about this L-Theanine. I hate waking up in the middle of the night and having to sit up. I am not sure I can drink hot tea, never have.
DeleteMy husband was took melatonin ONCE and swore never again. I have never taken it. I used to be able to sleep anytime, anywhere. I tended towards hypersomnia, never insomnia. Now. I don’t seem to need as much sleep. I do find that if I have a rough night with poor sleep, it’s better for me to stay awake the next day, stick to my schedule, and possibly do a bit more (take a jog, a hike or stack wood) so by the next bedtime I am very tired. I only take a planned nap in bed when I have a headache or am fighting a bug. That doesn’t mean I don’t nod off in a chair with a book in my lap, of course.
ReplyDeleteMeg,
DeleteGoodness, what did melatonin do to him?
When I took it years ago, it worked with no problems. Now, it is awful.
I have to adjust my sleep by how and where I slept before. I have awakened still with laptop on my lap and hands of keyboard.
He said he slept well but for two days after he was “off his feed” and unsure of what day/time it was. He took it because he flew an overnight to Europe and had only the minimum mandatory stay before turnaround, so he really needed the sleep. His copilot suggested it.
DeleteI have known parents here who give their small children melatonin nightly to get them to sleep, and all I can think is how that is teaching them to be drug dependent.
Meg,
DeleteThat sounds dangerous for a lot of other people. I am quite sure many parents upped the dose. I think it ought to be illegal to give melatonin to children, even a minimal dose.
That’s my issue with supplements. They are largely unregulated so you get situations like what I mentioned.
DeleteThat said, Valerian root is supposedly a mild sedative. A college friend of mine used to take it for mild anxiety. (Think test anxiety.) She would take it about 46 minutes before she planned to go to bed, and would then fall asleep easily.
Meg,
DeleteI had an owner of a herbal shop tell me that valerian was the same as valium. But, the valerian was less processed. I never went into his shop again. I heard him repeat other lies to other customers.
One more step, just one step short of 10,000! That alone would have kept me awake!
ReplyDeleteTreaders,
DeleteI know. The machine quits, just stops. Yes, one more step.
I harshly judge parents that dose their children with melatonin.
ReplyDeleteI haven't taken melatonin for a long time, but when I needed it, it helped just fine. No weird side effects. DS says it messes with his head the next day, so I do believe some folks are very sensitive to it.
Yay for your steps, Linda! You really seem to be doing great on your device--congrats on a great purchase that is really panning out.
It's Sunday here, and Snowmageddon has begun. Only about an inch so far, but it's wet snow and will make tomorrow's commute a headache and a hazard.
Meanwhile, we are all cozy and warm and waiting for my homemade chicken pot pie to come out of the oven. YUM.
Take care, everyone, and have a good week!
Sue,
DeleteI, too, am against dosing children with melatonin. It worked when I went through menopause. Not so much now.
The Ellipse is worth every penny I paid.
This afternoon I decided I did not have enough milk. As we went out, tiny flakes of snow were falling and got harder. Thirty minutes later, nothing was happening. Nothing has happened since. It is 24F degrees and dry as a bone!
The house is cozy and warm, and there is plenty of cooked food. I need to cook another cabbage!
As I type this wet bed linens are hanging from the bed post, will to dry in no time.
ReplyDeleteUrspo,
DeleteI wish I had a place to hang sheets to dry!
Until I read this post I did not realize that people were having issues with melatonin. I remember that many people had problems with Ambien. They were sleep cooking and driving!
ReplyDeleteJanet,
DeleteI took Melatonin for many years with only good effects. Then, I had problems. Now, I can take 1 mg and sleep all night and feel hungover until after dinner.
