Jan 2--12,000 steps
In the last few months, I lost 33 pounds with little effort. Before, I had found some of my blouses were too tight to wear. Now, my favorite red blouse is loose! I need to try on the others that were too tight.
I think I become dehydrated during the pedaling. I am woozy even 30 minutes later. I cannot walk! Well, I can walk but feel like I might fall.
Friday, the plan is to take extension cords from Christmas trees and reindeer. Because we have something else to do, the deer and trees may only make it to the front porch. The wreath can come down, too. The nurse is coming too, my least favorite of the workers.
The ot person who just checks in and records vital signs and progress came on Thursday. I learned lots about hunting birds with dogs. I thought they just took a dog out to find birds shot down. It appears the dogs are very specifically trained. If the dog did not see the bird go down in the water, they can signal the dog to get its attention and point right or left. We learned more, but you probably already know the information.
The leg therapy is helping greatly with lymphedema. But, the pressure is destroying my toes and feet. The pressure on my foot hurt the arch behind my toes so much I limped for over a day. I need to figure out how to turn down the pressure.
I still have an excess two pounds from my lowest weight before Christmas. It will come off.
It is 5:30 am. Acid reflux has me sitting up. I do have med for that but it is linked to dementia. I accidentally woke Tommy, but he was snoring in less than a minute. Good!
We collected the store ads today. Tommy went through them and said there was not much on sale we would want. I will check tomorrow. When he ran out of Diet Pepsi, he refused to drink one of my Diet Coke Caffeine Free. Now, he has been drinking them for almost a week because he ran out of Diet Pepsi. He was drinking four each day. When we find his drink b2g2, maybe he will switch to Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi. Since he was drinking four Diet Pepsis with Caffeine, that might be why he was getting so agitated. He takes bp med, so he should ditch the caffeine. Well, that is my opinion.
Maybe I can go lie down without problems.
Do you drink caffeine free drinks if you drink drinks that normally have caffeine?
t
I drink coffee in the mornings, one to three cups. Three is not the norm for me, it's usually two cups, but there are also times that one is enough, or I get sidetracked. I do not drink caffeine after around 11AM. If I have a carbonated beverage, it is Coke Zero Caffeine Free. I also like Fresca.
ReplyDeleteI actually made the mistake of drinking a regular Coke Zero last night with supper. I still have a 12 pack of them lingering since hubby's passing. It was close to midnight before I fell asleep - and that is not the norm!
Alice,
DeleteUGH! I hate to lose sleep because of caffeine. I never drink coffee, so I am free of that demon.
I'm so glad your leg therapy is working. That is wonderful! I try not to drink caffeine as it will keep me awake at night. I would drink a little it though if that was all I had, but would pay the price by not sleeping. LOL
ReplyDeleteAwesome job that you have lost 33 pounds! Woo Hoo!
Belinda,
DeleteI am thrilled! I will not give up sleep for caffeine!
I am allergic to caffeine, so I can only have very little. If I drank a whole soda my heart would be racing for hours. I can do my cup of coffee in the morning but that is it. I haven't drank soda with caffeine since I was a teenager and used to drink Sprite or 7up, but gave up any soda years ago. That's good Tommy figured out he can drink the soda with no caffeine.
ReplyDeleteOne,
DeleteMy heart races if I drink caffeine. I hope he keeps it up.
I drink 1-2 cups of caffeinated coffee a day. That is my primary and only source of caffeine. I do occasionally have a diet soda, but prefer a sprite 0 over Coke or Pepsi. I have no problem drinking caffeine free coffee or soda if that's whats available.

Tommy swears he can tell the difference until he has nothing else here.
DeleteHow did you lose that weight? Tell. Tell.
ReplyDeleteAnne,
DeleteRemember last summer when I was worried about sudden weight loss? Well, it started then. I have been eating less and less often, although you would not know it from the candy I ate at Christmas.
We drink coffee, with me be the biggest coffee drinker. We make it in a French press from whole beans ground daily. Beans are usually French roast, fully caffeinated. Nobody would like me very much in the morning without coffee. We also have a Keurig for single cups, but it gets used mainly for hot chocolate or for DH to heat water for (caffeine free) tea. The only time I make a pot of coffee other than morning is if we have a family dinner with a rich dessert. Coffee is a must then!
ReplyDeleteBeyond that, the main beverages in this house is water, and wine with dinner. I was raised to believe soda is poison, and I taught my kids the same. It’s also terrible for the teeth, even the diet sodas. Rarely did I buy soda for the kids, and when I did it was only as a treat. Eventually, they outgrew soda. As for me, other than birthday parties, where we would get grape and orange flavored sodas, I never really drank it as a kid until college. There, we had unlimited access to the soda fountains in the dining hall during meals, and I learned my parents were right…I always felt sluggish after drinking soda. Plus, soda is expensive! Recently, a kid was shopping with me and asked for a special soda for the holidays. (Cranberry Sprite). I sent him to the soft drink aisle for a case. Well, kid came back empty handed because he said he couldn’t believe the cost!
I had a relative tell me once while walking through a mall food court that “Americans eat like they have free healthcare “ and that stick with me! We think nothing of swigging 64 ounces of artificial ingredients, but God forbid we drink a glass of water!
Meg,
DeleteWater was the only thing we drank at home other than milk. Cokes, maybe once a month, and then we only had half of a 6 oz. bottle.
Caffeine makes my heart race. Cranberry Sprite was nasty! I drank a bit and put it in the refrigerator and don't know what happened to it. Nasty, tell your child.
The price left a bad enough taste in his mouth!!!
DeleteMeg,
DeleteI bought one from the case with single drinks. I saw the box with 12 cans, and I was not paying that price.
Went caffeine free on everything several years ago. Made me agitated and not sleeping well.
ReplyDeleteI gave up caffeine in 90s. Caffeine got me through 8 years of university, and I could take no more.
DeleteI drink a cup of coffee in the morning, and usually diet soda in the afternoon. I don't get caffeine-free soda because DS wants the caffeine, but I would drink it gladly because I don't detect a taste difference.
ReplyDeleteIt's harder for me to stay hydrated in winter. I can only drink so many cups of hot herbal tea. And the only time I'm thirsty for ice water is at bedtime, when I shouldn't be guzzling any liquids. I crave the flavor and mouthfeel of soda more in the winter, so... I know I should eliminate it altogether but it's too hard this time of year.
People questioned were addicted to the feel of soft drinks, the fizz in throat...lol. Me too.
DeleteI actually want water more. I allow one sip of water as I get into bed.
Buy two different kinds, caffeine and not caffeine. You will not be spending more since he won't drink yours. Maybe he will switch. When I do want a Coke, it does not matter whether it is winter or summer. Since I drink nothing hot, Coke works for me.
