Sometimes, I think going to bed early is useless. I woke at 5 am and had no nap because I was busy. I will never wake Tommy before 11 am if he is sleeping late. So, I turned on TV and he woke up and ate.
I wanted to get the ads from three stores. That went off well. And, straightened out the mess of buying wrong thing by returning it and then rebuying it. Publix was a madhouse again today. Since I had been up since 5 am, I was a mess.
When we got home, Tommy ate the leftover lasagna and I ate a meal ready to cook that had a chicken breast and asparagus. It was delicious. But, before it was cooked, it was 3 pm. This was not the plan.
Pt was coming between 3:30 and 4 pm, I barely finished eating. I spent an hour exercising. When she left, it was too late to make phone calls I needed to make.
We got 6 huge bscb, potatoes and 2 lbs. carrots into a turkey cooking bag. Then, I had three bscb for the crockpot. Unfortunately, I left onions and celery out of the bag, so it went into the crockpot. I went to bed for two-hour nap.
When Tommy woke me, we then ate a tiny dinner at 8:30. I used my machine for a walk. Now, I am waiting for my lymphedema therapy.
So, that was my day whether you wanted to hear it or not,,,,lol. It seems like all day we have been listening to CA fire news or Alabama snow news.
I was going to wait until Tommy noticed the CF Diet Pepsi. He never did, so I asked him if he put any CF in the refrigerator. He assured me I had not bought CF. He will drink them since he did not object at all. Things, change, must be mentioned over and over until he thinks it was his idea.
Tonight, when I was pulling a gown over my head, he was shocked by a bruise. It is very dark right now, just below my armpit, about six inches by 2 inches. It does not have any pain at all. I have no other bruise from the fall. I pulled my nightgown up so he could check for other bruises. There are none.
The cleaner to be is still not reachable! This has been a tiring day.
I am so happy Tommy is willing to give up some of the caffeine he consumes every day.
He yelled about going to a cardiologist, but is now okay with it, so tomorrow, I will make him an appointment with my cardiologist. Next for him will be a doctor for his osteoarthritis. He says there is nothing except surgery and he is not doing that. It is getting worse, so I think he is changing his mind since he no longer yells.
Do you have anyone you have to cajole or talk about a health problem until that person sees the light?
Is everyone ready for bad weather?
We are as ready as can be for bad weather. I switched a Dr appointment from Friday to Thursday so we won’t have to go out on Friday. Hopefully we will all be OK. The fires in California are devastating. My heart goes out to them. ❤️🩹 💔
ReplyDeleteBelinda,
DeleteThe ot was asking nosy type questions about our heating and eating situation. NO, we don't have alternate heat source! But, that is only because Tommy thinks nothing will ever happen. But, we have plenty of blankets and sense enough to ask for help...not a good plan.
The fire is tragic. So much history lost, so many homes. I do hope it will all be okay for them in terms of stopping the fire and no more lives lost.
I don't think those are nosy questions. She cares that you are both going to be OK during the cold.
DeleteMy first appointment with my new primary care physician was two weeks to the day after hubby's passing. When she asked if I was married, I broke down. I've seen her three times since (we're working on blood pressure medicine levels) and each time she has asked how I am doing and whether or not I have people to talk to. That's not nosy, she wants to make sure I'm OK.
I do consider those interfering with our life. They seem like the sociologists questions with
DeleteFord. Fema people did not do one thing to improve my life after tornado damage, yet they asked questions about things like did I have two exits to my home. They walked away without any benefit to me. I was told my family could fix my house.
Your doctor is different.
While you may feel that these questions are interfering with your lives they really aren't searching for any PRIVATE things. They like to know that your home is safe and may suggest a few things. One question that we were asked was about bathroom safety bars. It happened that we had already had them installed but I believe that our insurance would have covered these items if we had not already done so.
DeleteJanet,
DeleteI was wondering if our insurance would pay for the bars.
I so hope you can get in touch with a reliable cleaner. Hubby always had someone come and clean the house once every two weeks, because he didn't want me to have to do it since I still work. Since his passing, I have kept having her come. It's a comfort right now, knowing all the things I need to do. This is at least one thing I don't have to worry about right now.
ReplyDeleteAfter his passing, I did cut cable television, though. I have not watched much, if any, news in the last eight weeks and I feel I am the better for it. I see updates in my email of certain things, and big things end up being shared on Facebook. Come to think of it, the savings in cable almost entirely covers the cost of the cleaner. I guess that's a good thing.
We're expected to get 'several inches' of snow tomorrow here in south central Kentucky. As in Alabama, we are not prepared for snow, so if that is the case, the state will essentially shut down. As long as I do not lose power, I am prepared.
Alice,
DeleteHaving a cleaner is great. If cable pays for it, that makes it a deal.
I like watching the news and so does Tommy, so it will always stay.
The electricity is what I worry about if ice brings down lines. I want a generator. If we lose electricity that will cause Tommy to buy one. We would go to a motel if one had electricity and we could get there. That is always the plan in the summer. lol
Alice, When my husband died I did a similar thing. I first asked to have my cable plan downgraded. That helped for awhile but I was still trying to reduce my monthly bills. I asked to have the cable reduced to the very basic plan. I get the local stations and ABC, CBS, NBC and some of the shopping channels. Also a house remodel station and the Food network. It reduced my original bill by over $100. I do have a smart TV and a Prime account. I pay for Netflix with commercials. I think it is around $8.
DeleteI do miss having the Turner movies, the History channel and this election year I missed having CNN & MSNBC. Between the 2 paid streaming accounts there are TONS of both new and old movies.
Somewhere in there I also quit the house phone.
Tommy has lots of channels and pays about $130. I love having Turner, History. I don't know what all he has. We always find something to watch or fall back Gunsmoke or Seinfeld or Mike and Molly. He still has the house phone.
DeleteWe got rid of the house phone maybe 7 or 8 years ago. Between cable and internet, we were paying over 200. I cut cable out entirely and only use streaming (which I was already paying for) and the bill is now 83. I need the internet anyway because I work from home one day a week.
DeleteNetflix and Amazon Prime are the two things I use the most, then Samsung TV, which is the same as Pluto, I think. Pluto is a free app with tons of channels and there are a dozen or so news channels.
I canceled the newspaper, because that was his 'thing'. He really liked the actual paper, and not getting news online. I can't think of anything else that I have canceled outright. I am going to have to get new homeowners insurance, as the bill I just received for the upcoming year was over 50% more than last year!
Those are not nosy questions, they are “standard of care” questions, so she can determine if you need referrals to other services before it becomes a crisis situation. How can she do her job if you don’t have heat or food? It’s the “ounce of prevention” model. It’s her job to identify and address risks. Now, granted you are under no obligation to answer her questions or accept services. But then that’s on you, not her.
ReplyDeleteMy girls are ready, Son 1 is ready, Son2 to is freaking out because he felt he knew better than us. Now his answer is get to parents before it gets bad LOL
ReplyDeleteChef,
DeleteI suppose there will always be one who knows better and then panics to get home. The question is will he learn?
