Tommy turned to a TV station to a cowboy movie. He said he was going to watch it because had never seen a Hopalong Cassidy movie before. I was shocked! I could not believe he had never seen a Hopalong Cassidy movie. Since he is 71, he is of the right age. He said he watched cowboy movies on Saturday afternoons. So, I wonder how he missed seeing this cowboy movie.
We started watching Randolph Scott movies, so I quit writing this post.
Have you seen at least one Hopalong Cassidy movie? Who has not?
I know who Hopalong Cassidy is, but I have never seen any rebroadcasts of the tv show, any movie, or read the books he is based on.
ReplyDeleteI am far more familiar with William Buchanan--his sidekick Red Connors--who played Uncle Joe (who's a movin' kinda slow!) on Petticoat Junction.
Sue,
DeleteThis was on one weekend night. That is all I know but am surprised it has never been on before.
There will be one on at 1 am on Tuesday morning on GRIT TV. So, here is your chance.
I am well familiar Buchanan.
I never have watched a single Western. They were banned in our household growing up, as was Florida orange juice. The former because of, among other things, John Wayne. The latter because of Anita Bryant.
ReplyDeleteI do love discovering old movies, though. Recently a kid and I watched “The Defiant Ones.” It was as sad now as it was when I first saw it. Last night, a kid found a circa 1930’s movie I watched with my mother as a teen. It was “The Private Life of Henry VIII.” Watching that with my mother sparked a passion which led me to some amazing experiences! Since then, I studied the Tudors extensively, including spending a mid semester break walking in the footsteps of Anne Boleyn. In any case, last night I found myself laughing at this screenplay and how they had to adapt and sanitize it for the time. I also spent a lot of the time fact checking it for the kids. I told them historical facts are not spoilers!
Meg,
DeleteThat is sad.
What is sad? “The Defiant Ones?”
DeleteI’ve not watched one. 😆
ReplyDeleteBelinda,
DeleteI think they are showing them in the early AM this week on Grit.
I have never seen a Hopalong Cassidy movie. I have seen a couple of westerns but was never a big fan of them.
ReplyDeleteAnne,
DeleteHopalong Cassidy is not my favorite cowboy.
Growing up we watched a lot of westerns. Some were movies but many were television programs.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe I have ever seen a Hoppalong Cassidy movie.
Janet,
DeleteAll this week at 1 am a Hopalong Cassidy movie is showing. We got a tv when I was eight. Daddy took it back after a couple of days because he could not read with it on.
