Maybe?

 June 15

steps 2,700

We sat in line at the pharmacy drive-thru for almost an hour. It took a long time to finish both our transactions. The last thing we heard was that the Victoza would be in on January 21. I doubt it. I hope I am wrong.

We had things to do. We managed to do all but the most important--shop for a storm door. I sit here facing the door and can see daylight around the door. Of course, that needs to be fixed. Plus, a storm door that fits will help immensely to keep this place warmer and not so drafty.

When I first came here, he refused to let me put in weatherstripping. Now, I cannot reach high enough. So, we can spend lots of money. I talked to another Home Depot and got more help over the phone than I did in person at the other location.

At least, one project will be done. It is a long list. Tommy did take in about 10 items from three trips to get a refund. I suggested he not go in sooner as the refund line would be too long.

On Wednesday night, I went to bed at 8 pm. and awoke on Thursday at 2 am. I was so hot I had to get up. Now, two hours later, I am wide awake with the hiccups.

I have been so frustrated because my debit account has been frozen because of McAfee's attempt to push through a charge that was not authorized and exorbitant. Well, I called the bank today, and they have no info showing my account has been frozen. And, McAfee tried twelve times to push the charge through on Friday morning between 8 and 9 am! As I went into Publix to collect the ad, I bought one item, and the charge went through. I am so relieved that I can now use my card and money is accessible to me. Tommy was going to allow me to use his card, but Amazon will not take a cc for bill payment.

Christmas is still out and up for the most part. Today, I struggled to get into the room where the rest is stored. The room has stuff about two feet high all over the room. Christmas items that were stored on top of one box now covers the tops of items in the room. I am so furious! I managed to pull out the two boxes that two table-top reindeer and a Santa should go into for storage. I almost fell down as I came into the living room because I was carrying the boxes awkwardly and had to sneeze. Maybe Tommy can climb over his junk and hand me those three Christmas items.

I am tired of having to watch cleaners so they don't hide things from me and make my life more difficult in the long run.

Today was a beautiful day. The days are getting longer which makes me deliriously happy.

Maybe I can go five days without med for diabetes.

  1. Maybe a home organizer would be better for right now than a cleaner. They have a real knack for categorizing and storing things. One of my friends used to do it and gave me some suggestions that made things easier to access and put away

    1. Anne,
An organizer said she charged $45/hour. It would still be a hunt through everything in the house to find what I need.

  2. McAfee has been having a lot of problems with scammers, who will get your information and keep trying to suck money from your account. They don't keep trying and trying to debit a card, they'd do it once, and then if it failed, send you emails. (If you signed up for auto renew, you can go to your account and turn that off.)

I would check out the McAfee site, about scammers.

Meanwhile, it's not the best anti-virus software. There are better.

I don't understand why you aren't engaging the services of a cleaning service (one that has supervision of staff) instead of hiring whatever ragamuffin comes your way. Companies like Molly Maid, or Maid Pro. They might cost a little more -- but they've vetted their employees, and have a cleaning PLAN, that you can discuss with a supervisor. It's usual for a cleaning service to make a plan -- like a deep cleaning -- and then have regular main services, every other week, or each month, or each week (depending on what you want). Its well worth it, and they won't play games with you.

    1. Meetsy,
      So, what is better?
I tried the Molly Maid and others. They are expensive and were telling me what they did and refused to listen to what I need. I was talking to someone in Chicago. You don't understand the shape of this house. Someone needs to just keep at it and get things sorted. No, they do work one week and then move on, expecting to do a week's work in one day and then a different crew for a different chore done the next time. I was informed four guys would come, one in bathroom, one in kitchen, one to make my bed and clean my room, the other one to do hall and living room. Not have a guy take care of my bedroom. It is the way I feel, so no arguing about that. I was never to have a say.

    2. McAfee is basically "bloatware", Popular antivirus are Avast (which I still use, put the paid one, not the "free" version that is just annoying); AV Bitdefender, or Kapersky.

Aren't there any local cleaning companies? I'd probably search on craigslist, or put up a "gigs" post to see what you can come up with. Hope you find someone really good.

  3. Why don’t you call your doctor’s office and ask them to call in a generic substitute?

  4. My gas & Electric company offers a free service where they come out and weather strip doors & windows They also install water restricting parts for your sinks. They installed a whole new hand held shower in one of my bathrooms. There were no charges for these services!

My refrigerator is so old I qualified for a new one. The problem was that John built this one in and none that they offered would fit the spot without tearing out a cupboard. It is 32 years old and working just fine. I do vacuum under it quarterly. Keeping those coils clean makes a huge difference in the longevity of the fridge.

    1. I think CA is more generous than AL. It is nice to have those services. I did vacuum the coils. Tommy has not in 45 years. I just asked.

    1. Urspo, Tommy would be the one to go inside, a long walk and standing for him. In the past he has gone inside and said there were so many people inside, he would just as soon sit! They need to hire more techs. Other pharmacies can get it no faster.

  6. What would you think of contacting the local high school's guidance counselor and asking for housework help from a trustworthy junior or senior young lady that would like to make some extra cash? It seems you have in mind what you'd like to have done, and just need someone to be your legs and feet. Just one possibility.

    1. Angie,
Schools here don't know me. I doubt they would be willing to send one of their charges to me. There are other reasons, too.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
