Patrick Chan
I just read this to exbf. He said I should give and African sounding name and an address in Nigeria.
These emails are annoying. Yesterday, a caller rushed through his script about a private matter and said very quickly, "Now, if you will just give me your social, we can take care of this."
Your turn
Are you fed up with the emails offering to "share" millions with you. Do you get callers who think you will turn over personal information. I am on the no call list.
How kind of you to help Patrick Chan. I receive messages from many of his friends.

Janie,
DeleteResponse below.
We are also on no call list but continue to be bombarded with offers to install solar systems and others offering assistance to reduce our mortgage (we don't have one)
ReplyDeleteJanet,
DeleteI usually hang up before they can tell me what they are selling.
The callers often use stolen cell phones or else call from out of the country. I don't get these calls with the exception of years of them from "Credit Card Services." Sometimes, I won't hear for months, and then I'll hear every week or two for month or more.
ReplyDeleteAs for the emails, maybe you need better SPAM filters. I use Clearwire, and it's really good at eliminating this kind of thing. As for the phone calls, I guess you're stuck with them unless you want to change your number. You could complain to the government (I did), but I wouldn't get my hopes up about it doing any good.
Snowbrush,
DeleteIf Clearwire costs me anything, I won't be getting it.
I got a call from
Credit Card Services" or something similar sounding. I decided to play along for a bit. I was agreeable. Then, the guy asked me what bank I had a credit card with. I told him for him to tell me. He said he could not help me if I did not tell him where my account was. I told him that if he were really trying to help me with my account interest, he would know about my bank. He thought that any response meant I was receptive. I just clicked off the phone call while he was still talking.
It seems that these people are targeting the elderly. Before I turned 50, I got nothing. Now, 17 years later, it seems the number of calls has increased.
You are right about the frequency. My number must have come back up in the rotation. The calls have increased over the past few weeks. Then, as before, I am sure the numbers will subside or cease.
Janie,
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we have that much money in our accounts, mostly just money inherited? It must be nice to have money dropped in a personal account. I do try to be kind and help.
