Flowers, Dirt, Socks

Lost socks
While we are talking socks (oh, yeah, we moved on?) ...I feel lucky because I always find stray socks, sometimes a year later. Once, I got out fuzzy pajama pants for winter and found a sock up the leg. You have to be patient with socks. Socks have their own timeline.

I have never, ever thrown away a stray sock. Never ever. If the occasional lost sock never shows up, I use the sock for a dust rag, grease rag in the trunk, or something. I have been known to use a sock to pad Christmas ornaments.

Today, I spent the day throwing up the antibiotic. This torture never ends, never ends!

Your turn
How did you spend this Saturday?

    1. ND Chic,
Baby waiting is tedious. Maybe soon....

  3. Made stew and baked bread .... what should have taken an hour or two took ALL day!
I also tried to give myself a pedicure but I am barely flexible enough to do so.
Listened to a lot of NPR ...I think that is very telling of how old I am becoming! LOL
All in all I had a good day. I am so sorry that you are still unwell. Throwing up your meds is not good!
Any news on the raccoon front?

    1. Janet,
Making stew and bread would have taken ME all day. Now, you have a few days' meals. Please, pedicure? I am not flexible to anything more than occasional care to my feet. I have not listened to NPR in ages. I should be ashamed. Tomorrow will be a good day for me. No, I have not seen nor heard a raccoon. The hens did not get out of the pen all of yesterday. That has not happened in month. They were not happy today, at all.

    2. Here is what happened ..John commented on a photo in this months FOOD NETWORK magazine He said "this looks really good" ... Okay.... I can do that! Hours and hours later. Brown, wine, stew, chop, more chopping, more stewing .... you get the picture. It was good but quite honestly my mother's stew was far superior. She used ox tails which added a wonderful gelatinous aspect to the soup. I am tempted to do one of those throw down challenges between my Mother and that magazine .....I'll bet my Mom (and I) would totally win!

    3. Janet,
Yes, I get the picture--lots of work. Those labor intensive recipes are NOT for me when I have a simpler and better recipe. It sounds like it is time for a throw down challenge! Go for it. Yes, I bet you and your mother would win. Besides, something like ox tail would be sure to catch their attention. Go for it. Thanks for that story.

  4. A little weeding. Washing. Ironing. Cleaning of bathrooms. Feeding birds. Watering garden. Doing way too much, and I am paying today.
Not fair on the antibiotic front. Hiss and spit.

    1. EC,
You got a lot done, too. I pay for those days even though I cannot do that much. I read that as "watermelon garden" instead of "watering garden." I wish I had gotten anything done...lol.

"Hiss and spit" is absolutely correct. I am off the eat and take the third dose. Eating is to keep it from making me ill.

  5. I cleaned out our chicken coupe, the boys raked up the leaves out front and bagged them, started the prep work for refinishing my stairs, and went to an adult church dinner.

  6. J and M,
Wow, you got a lot done today, also. I am wondering how stairs are refinished with so many people using them--every other step, half of each step, no one uses them?

  7. I cooked and baked and just relished the warmth of my house on a cold, rainy, blustery day!

That is exactly the way I would spend a day like that. Those are baking days.

    1. Sue,
You got lots done yesterday. But, how did you get the jeans too short? I know us seamstresses can make mistakes, just wondering HOW?

And, I wonder where are my minions? Enjoy your day! Happy Birthday!

    2. Ha! It's too embarrassing for words. But I will tell you it involved a serger and a lazy seamstress.

  10. Oh, dear, Linda. Can you take probiotics? My mother (a former L.P.N.) swears by them. My grandmother is currently on antibiotics for bronchitis, too, and they're giving her the diarrhea.

You've been sick for way too long now! Your doctor(s) should be brainstorming for a better solution than antibiotics that are just coming back up!

I've been doing NaNoWriMo this month, so Saturday's are the days I try to catch up my word count. I write for as long as I can, and then I get up and stretch, refill my water cup, read blogs or play a game, and then repeat the whole process. My plan is to end up with a novel on Nov. 30. :)

    1. Jessnhalinda,
I don't know if I can take probiotics or not. The doctor is not aware of the latest problem. Tomorrow, I will call. Today, I took the antibiotic, felt rotten and hurt and just had to sleep. Then, I got up and ate and threw up in the store. The pharmacist told me to stop taking the doxycycline, that I must be allergic, that he was not aware of this being a problem with anyone. I think he checked it out. So, now I have one huge pain in my stomach. It feels like I have a sore place when the food goes into my stomach.

Wow! I have a novel started, so maybe I should do that, too. I would like to hear more but don't want to interrupt your writing. Good luck. I will be pulling for your finishing the novel.

  11. I do hope you get better soon! My husband has called me from work many a time because he's found a sock in the sleeve or up the back of a sweat shirt he's wearing. Now I make sure to check when I'm folding clothes and come up short!

    1. Alex,
Seeee? My children would be putting on pajamas and bring me a sock. Husband had a dress sock up his suit pants. YEP, check the inside when something is missing. I'm so glad you have the same experience.

I am trying to get better. The first move is to quit taking the med!

  12. You'll NEVER get better!!! At least not until summer. I spent all day saying "This is the SECOND migraine I've gotten in four days" They last three days. Cipro? At least this is better than throwing up.....in your spare socks.

If you throw up in my socks, those socks will be lost socks after that!
