Flowers!

I answered the knock at the door and was surprised. A friend handed me a huge bouquet of roses and said, "Happy Mother's Day!" They are shades of light pink, pale yellow, and white. Now, they are in water and in sight so I can enjoy them..

Going out to eat on a crowded day seemed like a bad idea, so that is deferred. "Like a raisin in the Sun?" Noooo!

Today, is the first day I have felt absolutely back to normal. However, I do tire a bit more easily.

Happy Mother's Day! How was yours?

  2. Nice! Sorry about your ant problem. Any updates? I'm allergic to fire ants UGH! I never heard of them until I moved to the South.

    1. Nan,
I have known of them for over 60 years, but I also lived in Jackson, MS, much farther south than I am now.

  3. I had a great Mother's Day. Stayed at home but did some special things on Saturday. One son sent me a box of 6 very large chocolate covered strawberries. They arrived on Thursday. Instructions said 'best if consumed with 48 hours' so I made sure I did!!

    1. Bellen,
I read the results of a survey that said that in an interview, the majority of women wanted to just stay home and have nothing to do, nowhere to go. I would have eaten all those strawberries very soon, not wasting away around here. Lucky you.

  4. Happy Mother's Day to you. A day late. I had a lovely day with one son and his family coming by for lunch. The kids are such fun. My granddaughter made me a card. So pretty and I will have it out for a long time.

  5. When we moved from Texas, I left behind my old fashioned petunias. They had been on the family homestead for well over 70 years. I cannot find them where we live and miss them so much. The heirloom petunia had a wonderful fragrance.

The day before Mother's Day, my DH found a plant growing out of the dry sand. It had one white bloom. It was a petunia! Did a bird drop it from heaven? I think of it as a flower from God. I'm not sure it is the "old fashioned" petunia, but it sure made my Mother's day!

    1. I do hope you did find your old-fashioned petunia no matter how it got there. This should be a lesson on taking some of your flowers when a move is made. Fantastic! One little flower matters.

    2. We moved in the middle of October, but they were blooming. I took a couple of starts, but couldn't keep them alive through the winter. Couldn't find any seeds at the time either.

    3. Janet,
So, they had a double whammy, winter and being dug up. Too bad.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
