I heard Brooklyn was dark, but my daughter never lost her electricity. She lost Internet, home phone, and TV when a tree fell on the lines. She can still use her cell phone. About three months ago I got 200 minutes of texting plan each month for $5, I just texted her since she wanted to save her cell battery in case she lost electricity. She only has a car charger and did not want to have to leave the house.
She had NO flooding! I am amazed.
The fire that burned 100 homes now leaves me with a new fear--overburdened fire department that might not respond in time in her neighborhood. You know how it is to be a mother.
I hope the people you all worried about being hurt or affected by Sandy fared as well as my daughter.
The post about Lucy and Ethel has been eaten by Blogger three times! I have to start over.
Your turn
How did you, your family and friends fare during Sandy? Got snow?
So glad to hear they made it through alright! Fingers crossed that their luck continues!
ReplyDeleteSome of the snow pictures I've seen are pretty unbelievable. The rain washed our snow away, so looking at these southern folks buried seems so odd. We'll catch up soon enough though, I'm sure.
That is great news about your daughter
ReplyDeleteWendy,
ReplyDeleteI have seen my daugter in NYC with clear streets and balmy weather while I sat with snow on ground and ice on branches, and it does seem so, so wrong. I cannot believe that it is 60 right now and so much snow just north of here in Tennessee. I feel lucky.
Her electricity is on now, but I have lost electricity while electricity was being restored to other places that lost it. I just hope it all continues so lucky.
That 60 is a cold 60 here!
Janet,
Yes, great news!
So happy your family is alright! My parents are without power but have a generator so no big deal. Their basement got some water but not much damage. My sister's family is without water - something about flooding and her well pump. I am thankful that all my family is safe and still have our homes. So many have lost everything. Thanks for the update. I've been thinking about you and yours.
ReplyDeleteLorie,
DeleteI did not see this. I just now figured out there was a place on Blogger for all the comments!
I'm happy to hear that you daughter fared so well and is safe.
