Stocking Up because of Tariffs?

april 6

steps 3000

My legs were in pain, so I walked 3000 steps to relieve the pain. Hope it works. I used a slow pace. Hopefully, I have not damaged healing to wound or vein.

Tommy only bought a 9-pound pork butt, not 19 lb. Sorry. He froze 3 bags of 2 meals in each one. So, six meals frozen. He will freeze some of the meat cooked in cooking bag. When I eat chicken breasts, he will have pork.

I slept longer last night and sounder. I believe the lack of sleep lately helped me to sleep last night. The 1 mg of melatonin and half a Percocet helped, too.

Reading about people stocking up before the price increases has gotten me to thinking about that more. We will not stop eating some things. Other things would be foods we would leave off. However, I don't want to stop eating pecans or prunes. So, I have overstocked on prunes and pecans and popcorn. The popcorn is Orville Redenbacher's air popcorn in a jar. We use nothing on it, no salt or butter. We eat it two or three times a week. I eat prunes and pecans every night. I fear we would eat other fattening things if we don't have our regular snacks.

Oh, we won't give up fruit as a snack. I wonder- how high bananas will go?

We will see. Are you stocking up on anything because of tariffs? Any thoughts? I made a mistake in that my pecans and prunes are from USA. Probably, there will be some increase in cost for some reason that tariffs affect.

  1. I stocked up on a few things that I found on clearance. I also stocked up on green chilies and pimentos.

    1. I will check on my pimiento supply! Thanks for that. I do stock up on clearance, too.

  2. the main producer of prunes is California -- so I doubt you'll have any tariff issues with them. Georgia is where most of the worlds pecan's are grown (Georgia USA not Georgia part of Russia). So you're safe there.

    1. meetsy,
That is what I thought but mine say other parts of the world, also. So, I don't feel quite safe.

    2. Meetsy,
Sorry, but my Sunsweet prunes do come from CA. However, I am sure a reduced labor force or something will make them cost more. Ooops, Tommy said the pecans were from USA, too. My mistake. What was I reading? Sorry.

  3. Orville Redenbacher is an Indiana company. Not stocking up on anything here. I will not do any extra. I am always stocked up well, no panic here.

    1. Companies always seem to find a reason to raise prices and blame someone. I am definitely not in a panic!

  4. I guess we got lucky that my dh did his project requiring some lumber before these tariffs. We won't be buying any large purchases.

    1. One,
I would say he definitely avoided higher prices.

  5. I am not so much responding to tariffs as a reason to restock my pantry. It's just that it needs an inventory and a restock. Tariffs are gonna screw us either coming or going.

    1. Sue,
Maybe I can make the pain a tiny bit less.

  6. Right now no, not stocking up on anything. My pantry and kitchen ingredients is something that I like to keep low-stocked. There's always alternatives when things get wonky out there in the world.

I say this now but we'll see how things go.

Hope your legs are feeling better. Does heat or cold help?

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
