The Percocet is not very strong. I cannot sleep well when I take it. I remain awake just barely and restless. Thursday night I decided to take the Percocet and melatonin. It worked. I slept over eight hours.
I also slept on my back so shoulder would not be in a strain and pain. I had to lie with feet pointed out so toes would not be mashed by blankets.
We planned to go to Cullman to get the forms and instructions for filing our taxes. We could not find them down here. Of course, I have been encouraging Tommy to pick them up from a library nearby. But, it is done. Tommy needed to go in PO to pay for my PO box. We got a burger and headed home after we ate.
I slept for three hours and we went grocery shopping. Four bags of salad fixings were the top of my list--blueberries, 2 cottage cheese, 2cabbages, two jars of Orville Redenbacher's air pop popcorn, 4 bananas, cookie dough, Special K, bread, maybe something else.
Something strange has happened to my right hip, the one I fell onto that never hurt for four days. I thought someone in icu had hit my hip point and asked them what they did. Well, nothing. After they left the room. i had a huge pain again. Now, there is a huge knot and lots of pain. Tommy says there is a big bruise.
My lymphedema leg pumps are sitting idle since I am afraid to use the pressure on the wound. I am not suppose to use upper legs and pelvis to exercise or do anything strenuous. Pedaling is out, too.
Keep your fingers crossed I can sleep.
You must feel a bit better to be out and about.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got good sleep.
Cheryl,
DeleteAbsolutely not. I felt so miserable.Thanks.
You can also get all the IRS forms online and print them out. They are also set up so you can type into the forms online and them print out. I just google the form number/name and usually that is the first link that pops up in a search, no need to navigate the irs website to look for them.
ReplyDeleteFirst, we need a working printer!
DeleteSam mentioned that she was using Melatonin to sleep better, so I bought some at Trader Joe's and used it the last two nights and it seems to be working for me. I also bought some sleepy time tea. I don't know if it is my knee surgery or not, but I've been having trouble sleeping, and I remember the same on my last knee surgery. I'll keep my fingers crossed so you can get some good and restful sleep.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get it sorted out. I have not. I need lots of fingers crossed, it appears.
DeleteI used to chew my Vicodin (tastes terrible) to get it to work really quickly. On the worst days, I would also alternate ibuprofen with acetaminophen. I would take 500 mg of one, then two hours later 500 mg of another. It’s not something you should long term, but it worked great for temporary, post operative pain.
ReplyDeleteWere you written orders for any in home care? Seems like your condition would qualify.
That does sound extreme, but for short run...
DeleteNo
Yes, that "Alternate & Overlap" pain med regimen has been recommended to me as well. I take ibuprofen (200 mg) and acetaminophen (500 mg). It does prevent breakthrough pain.
DeleteI can't take hydro-/oxycodone because they make me sick.
never heard of it.
Deletepain pills are notorious for mucking up sleep. No fun that.
