We had a wreck! A car slammed right into front side and fender. The driver was going fast, entering the roadway from our right. He hit side front and ripped around front of the car, dug his way into median, crossed road coming from opposite direction, went off the side of the road, dug out the shoulder, turned and came back up across the median behind us!
Whew! Then, he came limping up by Tommy's window, still in the median, said something fast in Spanish, indicated knee he was holding and went back to his car. He drove up onto the road and stopped by my window. He said something and pointed to Chicago Bulls patch and said "Burro, Burro." Then, he his the gas like a bat out of Hell, sped away and ran the red light ahead and continued speeding.
We called police. Tommy said there was a policeman right around that corner watching for speeders. They got him! We only know he got a hit and run. What else? We have no idea.
The car will drive. But, wheel or something scrubs. I have to fight my way out of the car and try hard to close it. Oh, Nerves are shot.
I was warning Tommy about his encroachment into our lane, but it all happened so quickly.
Oh my word, I'm so sorry! I'm glad you were not hurt but that is a royal pain in the backside having your car damaged. I'm so glad the police caught him but I hope he was insured, for your sakes!
ReplyDeleteThanks. We are quite sure he was not insured. People who run might not be.
DeleteI HOPE you have comprehensive and uninsured motorist -- and, be careful dealing with the insurance company. They are NOT your friends. You might want to be wary of any speedy settlement offers, and maybe consult an attorney?
Deletemeetsy,
DeleteWe do. Oh, we will be careful! I told Tommy not to talk to insurance guy who will come here without me there. I was present when guy came for last car we had to have repaired. Since the tire was scrubbing against something, I said we needed a new tire that matched the other three. The guy said it probably didn't scrub too bad and we had not driven it far. Tommy agreed. I told both of them I was not riding in a car with a damaged tire. The guy said, "Okay, we will throw in a new tire." I gave him an evil look. "Throw in??" He said we would get a new tire. The attorney is a good idea. Thanks.
Glad you are both ok.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, my nerves are so frazzled. That's all.
DeleteI'm so glad you are both ok. How scary!
ReplyDeleteMs Sandie,
DeleteIt did scare me, Tommy, too. My nerves are still upset. Thanks. I never can post to your blog.
Burro, Burro? was he implying it was Tommy's fault?
ReplyDeleteI hope you can get the car fixed to be comfortable and safe again. Eventually your nerves will settle, until then be gentle with yourselves
kylie, I have no idea what he meant. Maybe? Sure, Tommy should have gotten out of his way. Let him have all the lanes. I think going to be early will help us both. I may be gentle and eat out tomorrow instead of cooking!
Deleteburro/burra is Spanish slang for "you're dumb, a dunce, dumb-ass". It's lower class, street slang, meant to be aggressive. So it wasn't a friendly comment.
DeleteOMG! I’m so glad you are both OK. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteBelinda,
DeleteI need to go to Cardiologist.
So glad you are both okay. What a scare!
ReplyDeleteYes.
Deleteoh goodness - you guys sure didn't need that to deal with! Glad you are both ok, though. Cars can be fixed.
ReplyDeleteOne,
DeleteIf he gets it fixed, yes. He will but is dragging his feet.
