Pool Noodle Lollipops

I had plans. But, the heat this summer, pain in my hands, all sorts of excuses slowed me down. So, it did not happen. Maybe the next year will see if I get it accomplished.

It was a good idea. In the past I had some sort of project going all the time. I rarely failed to succeed. For outdoor decorations we have--three deer, three trees from tomato cages, wreath, mailbox wreath. Plus, mailbox is painted red.

Missed cardio appt, party will be missed. I wonder if we will have a car in time to make the other dr appointment.

We picked up accident report by creeping along in car, hoping we won't make it worse by driving it. The accident report is wrong. And, the police can no longer arrest anyone who is a hit-and-run. Since when?

I have contacted attorney.

  1. Linda,
Your hospital/provider should have some medical transport to hospitals/drs appointments covered under Medicare. Ask them if there is some kind of public transit program to your appointments. Non-emergency Medical Transport (nemt).

You can certainly set up an UBER account (Call 1-833-USE-UBER (1-833-873-8237) from a phone that can accept texts.)
And, best of all, you keep track of all these expenses, and the insurance company can pay you back -- since they are being so slow. Talk to the attorney about that.

Usually, your insurance company will help cover the costs of repairing or replacing your vehicle, including any necessary transportation expenses while your car is being repaired. (IF You keep receipts and make them, of course.)

Unless you were injured the most that a hit/runner could get is to be charged with a class A misdemeanor. ($6k fine, maybe jail time.) Since the cops didn't witness it, they'll be reluctant to do anything. And, in your state, driving without a license is a misdemeanor, which carries a fine of $10 to $100, plus a $50 traffic fund penalty.

Your attorney could sue them -- but if they aren't legal residents, they'll just move elsewhere and ignore any judgement, which is probably what they'll do anyway.

Good for getting an attorney. It is so unfortunate that insurance pay-outs are adversarial. They'll offer something really low, or ignore you, if you try and deal with them yourself. It the sad state of the world.

Make sure you file a report with the department of public safety. Most states require YOU to do it if the crash caused more than a couple hundred in damages to your car. No one tells you to do that --- and the police don't do it for you (neither does the insurance carrier) If you don't you can get a fine!!!! (More gotchas). But do it to protect yourself from any lawsuits!

All this totally sucks but you have to protect yourself so the burro-man won't try and file a claim against YOU for injuries. There are crooked lawyers, you know.

    1. Meetsy,
      Thanks. All good advice.
I don't have the energy or health to fight right now. I have used this attorney for two other insurance claims. The last time, she was in midst of suing same business over car accident claim. People are afraid of her.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
