I have a new Amaryllis, not this one.
Today, we both spent over two hours on the phone, trying to rent a car. No such luck. At midnight, I asked him when he was going to get a car. What car? He said if I wanted to rent one, get it. So, no doctor trips this week and no Christmas party.
PT person was an hour late because she forgot the time to come. That meant she and cleaner were both here, and Tommy was paying cleaner. So, I tended to Tommy, cleaner and pt person. It was a wild, to me, occasion. Tommy and cleaner hooked up lights to deer and electricity.
There are four candles on a gold deer antler, but I only had two batteries, just enough for one candle. Oh well. We will buy more.
Four people with two lift chairs and one chair not available (stacked too high) made this room so crowded.
PT hurt lots, but they were easy exercises...like raising leg 20 times. She did not tell me to do them every day, but I will.
I lost another 4 pounds today. That makes 32 lbs in last three months or so. I don't think I have noted the four pound loss yet
PT person was trying to hold onto me. I had a time making her stop touching me! It makes me feel off balance! I do not want to fall. She was about five feet tall, not enough to keep me from falling. She put together my Ellipse. I tried it a bit. It seems very fast even though it is slow. And, I had it on the slowest speed.
I did have cleaner dust in living room, shake bathroom rugs, and vacuum hall, my bedroom, and kitchen. I told her to vacuum, not move things, so this was a middle of floor vacuum. She did little, but it was not her fault there was someone here. I told her to leave rugs outside for Tommy to wash, but she did not, and he did not. I was too distracted by PT.
It was 67F degrees today. I finally had to turn on AC. It has been so hot at night I may turn it on tonight.
The coughing and sneezing are somewhat less. I find it hard to believe I will be well by Christmas. However, I am making progress. Since I cannot find all decorations since last cleaner moved them somewhere, the three tomato cage trees will be te last of decorations.
News of lollipops is upcoming.
Are your Christmas plans coming along?
I have not gotten any cards mailed. How about you?
I didn’t do any cards this year. Just one week until Christmas!
ReplyDeleteBelinda,
DeleteI may mail a half dozen today. Time is flying.
Like you, I prefer using “Amaryllis ” as the plural of “Amaryllis” instead of “Amaryllises.” I mention this because it was the topic of a spirited conversation in my house some time ago! We used to get DH an Amararyllis every year at the Rite Aid 75% off post Christmas sale. We haven’t had luck getting them to bloom since living in the farmhouse due to the sun exposure in the kitchen window. This year, we bought him a Hyacinth bulb which can be grown in the glass vase in which it came. Then, we can plant it outside. Native Northeasterners that we are, we say the fragrance is the scent of spring! You can’t replant an Amaryllis bulb outside here and expect it to bloom. We did, however, get one to bloom annually in the flower bed by our pool when we lived in the southwest. The others we tried there only produced foliage.
ReplyDeleteThe PT forgetting your PT time is inexcusable. I would mention it to the care team lead. (RN? Ours was the OT.) Unfortunately, sometimes laying hands on you is the only way to get your body positioned correctly for the exercises. They are well educated on fall prevention. She wants to avoid you falling as much as you do…as we were told, falls during a session are A LOT of paperwork!
YES! Do your exercises daily. As I used to tell my students, practice makes progress!
Hell NO! She was not positioning me. She is grabbing at me or touching me to keep me from falling when I am having no problem. The day I fall from aggressiveness on their part, there will be a lot of paperwork and lawyers involved. She could not stop a fall no matter how confident she is. Even if someone managed to stop a fall, it would still hurt me worse to have someone grabbing at me.
DeleteLinda, Perhaps you could request the therapist use a gait belt. That way they wouldn't have to use their hands on you.
DeleteYou must be safe. At our age, a fall that causes a broken hip can be the beginning of the end. Many people do not heal after such an event.
Janet,
DeleteI have seen those. I doubt I could stand that. It is touch that causes me to lose balance. If she put the least pressure on me, I fear I would topple.
I will not fall...you know, like I never do. /s I am being more careful.
Don't you still have your car, Linda? Can't that be used? Is Tommy's car getting fixed? Bodywork usually doesn't take very long.
ReplyDeleteGood that you will do your exercises --- the more you move, the more you CAN move. I'd really start looking at some Tai Chi videos, and some chair yoga. They would be good for Tommy, too.
For Tai Chi I am very fond of the teaching style (youtube) of Don Fiore. He has some seated exercises that are very good.

The thing is, you don't have to just do them once a day (start that way) but you can work up... to every hour. It will make a huge difference, along with the PT stuff, in a very short time.
meetsy,
DeleteIt is so difficult for Tommy to get into it. Neither of us can get out.
The insurance company is not moving forward. We have to wait for them to get a body shop of their choosing. Why? I contacted an attorney today.
There is more. I contacted an attorney today.
I love tai chi, so I am sure I would like seated tai chi. I will look those up.
I think I remember the exercises. I would have thought she would have left a sheet of exercises.
good for you about the PT, and the weight loss!
ReplyDeletebrava !
Urspo,
DeleteThanks. I am trying.
