Weather and Blogger

Weather

The weather has been absolutely balmy, a cost-saving condition. Well, when I had to turn of the AC for three days, there went the electric bill....up.

On January 10, Thursday, the temperature was 65 F, 65 F at 2:30 am it was still 65 F and stayed within a degree of that through Friday and Friday night, the temperature rose to the mid 70s F on Saturday, dropped to about 65F last night and rose to 70s F again today. However, it all ends tonight when it drops all the way to 49F. All this is Fahrenheit but Celsius is impressive, too.

65 F = 13 C
75 F = 24 C

It might seem that this is a great turn of fortune for us in the South. It is, but it makes us in the South nervous and wary. I live in Dixie Alley, a more dangerous area than Tornado Alley. We have two tornado seasons. Warm, unseasonable weather in the winter means the great possibility of tornadoes.

The weatherman has not mentioned tornadoes, but we know there is always that possibility, the threat. I just heard that Kentucky had an F1 tornado. So, there.... I do stay close to weather forecasts, maps, and the news.

Before I started keeping track, the weather preceding this extremely warm weather barely called for a jacket and I had to throw off blankets at night. I am quite sure these four days of balmy weather and using the AC only on Saturday and today, Sunday, has saved a tiny bit on the electric bill. Any little bit helps. Right?

Blogger

I have not been able to post a picture since January 4, 2012. Even after I reported the problem, I have seen no improvement.  Plus, my followers (Fabulous Friends) and the followers of many Blogger blogs are missing. See the upper right of my blog for missing followers.

HELP!

Does anyone have an answer as to how to get through to Blogger?

Your turn
How has your weather been the last week? Are you in the South? How is your Blogger experience been for the last 9 days? Solutions?

  1. If you download firefox or google chrome and use one of them when blogging you can post pics, find your missing items and it seems to run faster for me. I got this hint from other bloggers.

  2. Blogger has been cranky. If you go thru Google chrome, you should be able to upload your pictures without issue. HTH

    1. CTMOM,
Thanks, but I don't want to install Chrome. It will mess up everything. I accidentally downloaded it once, and it took lots to get my computer back to normal.

  3. It might not mean anything but I've had chrome since it came out. It has been practically perfect. My computer used to freeze up. That never happens now. Recently I downloaded the iTunes update. I am totally lost. Change is hard for me so I do understand what you are saying.

    1. My friends who can help me around here are not using Chrome. So, I could not get any help except to delete it. If I had someone who could just step and tell me what is going on, I might just chance chrome...lol...yes, that change will be hard for me.

  4. I wanted to add that in southern California we are really feeling the cold. It has been 28 F the last couple of nights with a high of around 50 F. For those of us who are accustomed to 75 F practically year round it feels positively Arctic. Burrrr!

    1. I once remarked to my AF friend that I wanted to live in a place that was 75 degrees in the daytime year round. He immediately told me to move to Riverside, CA. I had to switch to sandals, take covers off bed, and ditched all coats and sweaters, even at night. I must say, 28 at night when it gets no higher than 50 in the daytime is chilly.

I may have to leave the South for S CA.

  5. We had a beautiful week here too, and hit a balmy +6°C on Saturday! In January! Unbelievable. I was out shovelling snow in a sweater. Sunday the temperature started dropping again, and it looks like we're headed back to more seasonal temps for the coming week.

I haven't been posting much, but haven't noticed any issues either. Knock on wood...

    1. Wendy,
Thanks for telling me what you see. I cannot see my followers (Fabulous Friends.) I cannot see anyone's followers.

No snow here, but I could bail out the yard.

At least we had a bit of a break on the heat bill

  7. Wendy,
It is headed down to freezing tonight. I have had to put socks and shoes on and wear pants to bed.

I cannot see your list of followers.

    1. Sorry- I really don't know what to say. I can see everything that's supposed to be there on my page. I can see your blog list, followers, archives, labels... It all seems to be there. A few other people have mentioned issues with their blogs for the past week or so, so it's not just you. Maybe it's regional? Blogger doing updates and it's not my turn yet? Who knows. As the saying goes, to err is human. To really mess things up requires a computer...

    2. That's so funny... You have to wear shoes!?! It's January! Shoes are well buried at the bottom of the closet, not to be found til spring!

      Keep warm!

    3. Wnedy,
Yes, shoes. Sooo, what do you wear?

    4. I have three pairs of winter boots. I also have 3 types of socks- summer, normal and winter. And long underwear. And three layers for tops- tshirt, long sleeve and sweater. :)

    5. Wendy,
I see. That's lots of boots. I only own a pair of black rubber rain boots that I got only to walk in the muddy chicken pen. If I wear a sweatshirt, I don't wear a sweater. I only have a few cardigans for outerwear and they are not for everday around the house. Also, they are thin.

None of my coats are warm and have to be layered to keep warm. I ony have one type of socks--cotton that are only worn in winter with shoes.

The sheer volume of winter clothes in too much in my house for me. I can only imagine the volume of clothes around the house for the six of you.

Until this year, I mostly wore sandals all winter.

  8. When my blogged got hijacked right out from under me, I kept filling out the forms and sending them every few hours for DAYS. They NEVER contact YOU. They're too important for that. And it took them about a month to shut down my blog so the hackers couldn't use it to write trash IN MY NAME.

    1. lotta joy,
Thanks. I really don't know how someone could hijack your blog. ?? That sounds like a nightmare. I am not sure what is going on here since everyone else can see my followers and I cannot. I am losing my patience here.

  9. Thank you for the temperature translation! I needed that to see what kind of weather you've been having. Wow! You've had some really mild days.

I've been uploading to Picasa Albums and then adding photos to mym blog from there. It's working really well, but it is an extra step :-(

    1. Sue,
I get so frustrated when have to calculate weather noted in Centigrade. So, I thought I would help others a bit.

The mild days are over. It is right at freezing right now.

It won't work with Picasa, the way I usually do it. I have to go see Charlie!

  10. If you don't want to load Google Chrome just switch to HTML mode when you are ready to add your pics. Select "center" before you upload and it makes positioning easier. After loading pics hit the Compose button and you are back in business.
