Jonquil Fever and Groundhog Day

Forecast
Those are two-inch jonquils or daffodils in the picture. On the last day of January, I noticed that they were peaking through the soil, about two-inches high. No matter what Punxsutawney Phil says, spring cannot be too far away.

I believe. I believe. I believe.

Your turn
What has been the first sign of spring at your house?

  1. we're living in a snow globe today...not amounting to anything, just enough to make it pretty! hope the cold weather doesn't nip your jonquils in the bud!

  2. I wish we had enough snow for just pretty. The deep stuff just gets ugly. I think daffodils have been damaged on the tipsof the foilage, but that never seems to really hurt the flowering. Thankfully, the buds are not yet there. It is really cold here--28 degrees F. The chickens are inside the house, so I am sure they really appreciate that this cold house is warmer than a box outdoors.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
