I'm pretty sure that I mentioned earlier that I had had both procedures the same day and compared to your experience mine was a walk in the park.

Kristine gave you good advice about the liquid. I received the gallon bottle and a strip of four powdered flavorings.) Pineapple, cherry, orange or lemon-lime) It never dawned on me to mix a little flavor in a portion of the liquid.Instead I opened them all and gave them a sniff to see if one smelled better than the others. I chose cherry .....that was a mistake. I hear that the lemon lime is the most palatable. One nurse told me that you could flavor the mix with crystal light if you choose. The best hint came from my best friend. She suggested LOTS and LOTS OF ICE. Then hold your nose and chug as much as you can. If you try sipping it will take an eternity. Using a straw to place the liquid way back away from your taste buds is a good hint too.

Be sure to have baby wipes, and a good book or several magazines near by!

I had to laugh at the "seizures" That is a great story!

Janethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01024512934812657769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3321084510373631678.post-60632684105971060412013-08-16T13:26:03.971-05:002013-08-16T13:26:03.971-05:00Alex,

So, not knowing is what everyone wants? lol Having different flavors ready is a good tip. I have Vaseline at the ready. I use wash cloths for poop. I can break out the tp I keep stored for others. Or, I can cut up soft cloth so I won't use tp and hurt myself. I feel better knowing these things up front instead of afterwards when tips usually roll in. When I had my colon removed, I remember thinking: "No more colonoscopies every 6 months"!

Your post took me to the dark side of extreme low blood sugar. Joe sometimes gets frantic, trying to wake me up after 14+ hours of sleeping.

I have literally grabbed an entire pie I was making, taking it to the floor with me, when I started sweating, getting disoriented, and knowing I was going to hit the floor. While on the floor, I shoved my face into the pie and made animal noises as I gulped the filling.

It is HORRIBLE, and people always assume I'm drunk.

You have the right, and the responsibility to INSIST on being the FIRST patient. If you have to wait an extra few days, or a week, so be it.

YOU'RE paying for it.lotta joyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12742978845913126675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3321084510373631678.post-87305142535715884762013-08-16T08:55:36.720-05:002013-08-16T08:55:36.720-05:00Yes I've had an endoscopy --several times. It...Yes I've had an endoscopy --several times. It was as you said, and I don't remember after too much also. In addition, I have worked in endoscopy suites for over 30 years. I wish I had a nickel for every time I have been told " I want to be out-- I don't want to remember anything". Your colonoscopy will be similar-- same drugs but perhaps a bit more as a colonoscopy takes longer than an endoscopy. Here are a few tips for a good clean out. The instructions say take one glass of the liquid every 10 minute. Most people can't do that after the first few glasses. So slow it down wait till you feel as if you can do it. Since it isn't the most pleasant taste, drink it with a straw. Keep the liquid away from the edges of your tongue-- where the taste buds are. If you get several flavor packets, don't flavor the whole gallon with one flavor, put a little powder in each glass, and test which flavor you like. Then you can flavor the rest of the gallon or not. The other thing is to drink PLENTY of other liquids in addition to the clean out liquid. The reason for this is to push out any remaining poop. The colon has to be very clean in order to get a good exam. Since you have hypoglycemia be sure to use sugar containing clear liquids. Examples-- Sprite, apple juice ( no red liquids). I chewed gum to get the taste out of my mouth too-- but that is not an official recommendation. Oh yea, wipe gently--and use vaseline if you need to.kristine barrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16478432437077665125noreply@blogger.com
