They’re just gray and drizzly, and the days are a lot shorter due to being halfway between the Equator and the North Pole. Eastern Oregon is desert and mountains, and it gets really cold there because the Cascades block the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean on its weather. Here, I’m only 60 miles from the ocean, and the ocean keeps the winters from getting all that cold.

" It was the idea of furniture on the walls that intrigued me.”

I can understand that. In old houses like mine, the bathrooms are often 10' and 12' high because the bathrooms were added later with no storage places. My friend finally put wire shelving in her tallll bath to store hundreds of rolls of tp. After having seen her bathroom, I dodge the wire shelves that are up at least 8' up.

Since I had basement and attic for 35 years, storing was snap. We have standard 8 1/2 ft ceilings in BRs & Baths - wall hung storage pieces would make the space feel claustrophobic. We have cathedral (or as they are called here volume) ceilings in the LR/DR/Kitchen. Am not sure it would work there.

I don't remember what it's called but in Japan? they have storage units comprised of various sizes stacked in a triangle shape. Probably something like that could be built of various pieces of furniture - attached to the wall for safety - it could be as large as needed and built as pieces of furniture were accumulated.

For us, with no basement or attic, we're going for the spartan look. Less to deal with, less to clean, less for family to take care when we die and most importantly - less to remember where in heck we put it!!Bellenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17249001827113998376noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3321084510373631678.post-23819742243577746582015-01-19T20:35:17.720-06:002015-01-19T20:35:17.720-06:00tana50,
