Already?

August 11, 2014
Of course, the store had to shove the school supplies over a bit to get started. This made me sad. How many children will have gotten so much Halloween exposure, not to mention candy and trinkets by Halloween to take the thrill away?

Your turn
Have you seen Halloween items out yet?

I am sad too because this means Christmas junk is around the corner. I hope they can hold off until Halloween is over.....but doubt it.

    1. I wonder when we will just have all this holiday stuff out all year long. Well, there are Christmas stores open in malls.

  2. I'm with sluggy, Christmas junk is just around the corner. It hasn't even felt like we got a summer around here, its been so cold. So it doesn't seem right that we are skipping summer and going to fall decorations.

    1. Sonya Ann,
I love all these holidays in their own time. But, in summer? Hopefully fall and winter don't come early.

  3. We have Christmas stuff everywhere here already. It's insane!

    1. "Insane" is correct. I get all grumpy when it is so early.

  4. While I DID purchase school supplies with UP Rewards, I have left them in the car so as to not tarnish the last two weeks of my kids' summer vacation. I love autumn /Halloween decor, but not until fall! It's August, by golly. Can 't the stores wait until Labor Day? And don 't even get me started on Christmas creeping in. Yes, it kills the thrill for kids. But, in this house *I*set the calendar, not the stores.

    1. They had swim suits after Christmas. That seemed to be pushing it. Good for you for keeping things in balance.

  5. Can we not enjoy the remaining summer, people, without someone wanting to be the first to get in our wallets??

(Actually, Fall is my favorite, if I'm honest. I just hate to see Christmas stuff in August.)

I love all the holidays, but I resent having pumpkins and candy corn in my face so soon. You can go crazy having a porch and all to decorate this fall.

  7. I haven't seen Halloween stuff around yet - but I will. And I have seen some Christmas crap already.

    1. EC,
AU is not into Halloween as much as the US, I hear. Well, I won't play until I want to, either.

  8. I haven't really been out, but I did see some scary Christmas ornaments at the Dollar Store.

    1. Scary? How so? Oh, I bought some little figurines for a Victorian Christmas scene and the mouth paint was off to one side. The eyes were not painted in the right place. Yes, that was scary because I figured those were ones that five-year-olds painted.

  9. I work for a magazine distributor - I think, I put out the first of the Halloween magazines this morning. I've actually joked that one of these years they (the manufacturers and stores) will start putting out next year's Christmas items as soon as December 26th. It's getting crazy - yet I can understand why they do this - if you make decorations you need the lead time (same priniciple as the clothing designers having their fall shows in late winter or early spring - they need the lead time to get the things in the stores).

I think your joke might just actually become the truth.

Can't they design after Christmas and manufacture, and THEN put the things out just before the holiday instead of 4 months before? sigh

  10. We've had Halloween crap out around here for about a month now, and some stores have already started on Christmas. I tell my kids (loudly) not to bother even going down those aisles because we won't be buying any of it until October. It really irks me.

Okay, hoping the annoyances have gone away.
